Friendly staff at counter and restaurant; comfy room with a review (as shown in the photo) ; I successfully booked a room near the airport but later I was refunded as I was told it was fully booked by a. Trip.con staff - which was not a very good experience. Luckily I found this hotel as I was totally satisfied.

Thon Hotel Opera is located very conveniently across the road from the railway station, connecting you with the airport and other parts of Norway. It is about a block from the waterfront and the Opera House and very easily located within walking distances of the CBD, restaurants and shopping. It has large rooms, good shower and good wifi. The breakfasts are also very good. Dinner was one of a set menu and was OK

Good beds and pleasant service, with a varied and super breakfast. The hotel as a whole is to be recommended for guests who want an affordable and simple stay with the facilities and opportunities available in and around the hotel. The location is in the middle of Oslo near Aker brygge, the town hall etc.

Estuvimos 6 días, la localización inmejorable, el tranvía y los autobuses en la puerta , a lado de la estación de bus y de tren... y de la calle comercial, un montón de tiendas y restaurantes cerca.. a 15min del puerto y del Ayuntamiento, el hotel estaba en plena renovación, nos dieron una habitación renovada muy amplia...el desayuno incluido era muy bueno

Having visited this hotel some weeks ago when the room was freezing cold despite trying to get the heating to work, I fully expected things to have improved but unfortunately not. It seems unbelievable that a major chain hotel has had no working heating system for several weeks during Norwegian winter and waits for its guests to complain before providing them with the tiniest oil heater which has no effect. The weather was sub zero during my stay and the hotel acknowledged the heating system in the rooms was not working, apparently all the bedrooms are affected. A rather uncomfortable stay.

Hotel is good quality, good location, staff are nice. But the most important thing of this hotel is that they feed you a GOOD breakfast and dinner, with tea and cakes in the afternoon as well. This is important because food in Oslo is EXPENSIVE and difficult to find. You might look at the cost for a night, whatever it is, and think ”Ah, too high, I'll pick a cheaper place”. But eating in Oslo either means 7/11 hot dogs, or meals that will set you back 20-30 euro per person. For every person who stays at the hotel, you say up to 50 euros in the cost of feeding that person, unless you want to exist off of sandwiches and hot dogs. Consier that when buying. Breakfast was a traditional Norwegian meal with all types of good breads, jams, cheeses, fish, plus yoghurt, cereal, eggs, bacon, croissants, and more. Lots of it was quite uniquely Norwegian. Dinner had delicious meat, potato, soup, bread and veggies. Seemed fairly Norwegian. Warning, it was the same each night though. My friend and I found both very delicious, I could not imagine somebody complaining about either, unless they stayed for a full week, by which I could imagine getting tired of the food by the end. Eat well at these two meals, and all you'll need to spend money on food during the day is perhaps a sandwich. Norwegian food is ”meh”, you're not missing out on anything by not eating out. Other reviews can tell you about the hotel itself, it's a nice hotel, same as nice hotels anywhere, including many others in Oslo. But not having to worry about food was by far the biggest relief, and made this unique. Consider that when picking hotels, because picking a hotel thats 30 euro cheaper a night won't be worth it if they don't offer breakfast or dinner.

This hotel is well located to explore Oslo. The breakfast buffet is large, varied and excellent. The staff are friendly, but could be better informed to help guests with their questions. Rooms are relatively spacious with a. funky modern decor but aren’t cleaned unless guests request it. The included dinner can be hit or miss in terms of quality, quantity and service. Overall, a good, not a great, choice.
