Coron Soleil Garden Resort

I feel a little bit disappointed by the experience at this facility, especially given the premium price. Let’s start with the price, we were supposed to pay less than £400 for four nights, it ended up costing more than £500. We were on our honeymoon, so we didn’t mind too much about it, but we wouldn’t recommend paying by card as there are fees associated with this payment type, like a 5% surcharge and terrible exchange rate. The facilities are great, breakfast is satisfactory and most of the staff is competent, but I cannot stop comparing this experience to the one I had in Puerto Princesa at the Aziza hotel, where the staff was extremely attentive and overall awesome, for a fraction of the price (we paid 87£ for two nights there). On the first night, our room was swarming with flying ants, not ideal for such a premium establishment. Fortunately, we have been moved to another room, 209, which is probably clustered as a poolside premier. Unfortunately, the room has an internal door that connects to the other room, 210, so we had to listen to crappy music from some kids next door at 2AM. Not ideal. The electricity went out twice during our four nights stay, and in both occasions, the room’s electricity didn’t come back on when the generators where switched on, which resulted in the staff having to disable the RFID and leave the electricity on without the use of a card. During our stay, the staff has been doing repairs on the premises, which resulted in noises starting really early during the day. The supervisor apologies weren’t really convincing, I worked in hotels most of my life and I think it’s unacceptable to do works in the premises whilst the guests are about, even if it’s low occupancy season. Overall, the response to our issues was satisfactory, but I cannot help thinking that this establishment is not delivering the services and facilities they are selling. There are some positives though, like the pool and breakfast, which has improved since some of the oldest reviews have been written. I am sure the managers will learn from our experience and deliver a better service, but I also believe that given the location and overall experience, you should be able to find a better accommodation closer to the town centre (some reviewers mentioned the resort is 5 minutes to town, which is true if you have a scooter or get a tricycle but not if you are walking). This place might be perfect for a family with kids though, so if you’re like me and don’t really fancy having kids around, you might want to looks elsewhere.

The one flaw in this hotel was the location. Not that far from the airport or the malls, but you absolutly need a trike or a taxi to go anywhere. The trike was cheap, only a dollor or two but a bit of a pain waiting for it. 10 or 15 minutes. not a big dea\ Pool was awesome\ Food was good Staff was excellant Sunsets were really good. Hotel backs right on to the beach. Swimming is tuff in the sea cuz at low tide, the water recedes to 100 or so meters away. but the pool is good. The only real site that I found to go to was the Underground River, so Puerto Princess is good for a 3 day vist.

Kokosnuss Garden Resort

Prior to starting this review, i read some previous reviews, and i have to say, most of the negative ones are either without foundation completely, or were written by overly pretentious people. It's island accommodation, it's cheap by western standards, yet some people seem to expect 5 star luxury for $40 -$50 a night ? Please, be serious people ! In any case, we booked a 3 week stay at KokosNuss, and our positive opinion of the place started before we even checked in ! Applied for the S-Pass twice before leaving Australia, the 2nd time being immediately before boarding our flight to Manila. Was rejected both times, reason unknown. On arrival in Manila, it was supposed to be a few hours in a hotel then a morning flight to Coron, but we still didn't have an S-Pass, and i was at a loss as to what to do. As a last resort, and out of desperation, i messaged KokosNuss to tell them of the issue. Keep in mind that by this time, it was around 11.30pm. Luckily for us, Alma was the one who responded, and assured us that she would get it sorted on our behalf, and she said to check our S-Pass account by 6.30am. Sure enough, when i checked at around 6.30, the S-Pass was approved. Alma was an absolute angel and our saving grace. Staying up to nearly midnight to help us out ! I/We can't speak highly enough of Alma, and she is the epitome of true customer service. After a stressful night with the S-Pass situation, we finally arrived at KokosNuss the next morning, and were greeted by really friendly staff. We were shown to our room, with staff taking our suitcases and backpacks for us which was nice of them. The room itself was quite nice, with a big bed, and the bathroom was a tastefully decorated room, separate to the bedroom. One of the first things we needed was a good shower, and while the water wasn't hot, and the pressure wasn't great, it did the job for sure. We sat down for dinner that first night, and when our ordered meals arrived, i was gobsmacked by the serving sizes. I've travelled extensively around Asia (and the rest of the world) and nowhere have i been, particularly in Asia, where the serving sizes are a huge as at kokosNuss. Eateries/Cafes/Restaurants around Asia typically have serving sizes akin to what the locals would eat themselves, and as we know, Westerners/Europeans tend to eat bigger meals than Asian people, so you tend to order more to compensate. No need at KokosNuss, the meals are massive ! (and the range is good) Not only are they massive in serving size, they are all freshly prepared and cooked, hence why some reviews mention having to wait a while for your order. To have a freshly prepared and cooked meal, I’m quite happy to wait that little bit longer. In terms of value, the meals are really well priced, especially considering that you won’t finish any of the meals still feeling hungry. The next morning (our first full morning at KokosNuss) we ventured downstairs to the Al Fresco meals area for breakfast, and I mentioned to Alma

1. Cleanliness-4/5- our room was clean. 2. Toilet 3/5- there are times the water supply is low (shower) esp around 6-7pm. Shower does not work because of low water supply. They should work on it. 3.staff- the staff were friendly but when i asked if i could extend my stay for 1-2 hours and i lll just pay them because of tour delays, they rejected my request as the hotel is fully booked. Which i find it odd.4. Food- I won’t recommend their breakfast its dry and some of them are hard to eat 2/5. 5. Tours- there is no consistency when it comes to communication with their staff when you book for tours. I booked a day before for the safari tour with my friend. They said they will contact the travel agency so i waited the whole day and come to find out that it was as already packed and i should book a day before which i just did. I could have just find a different agency but it was too late for me because they told me at 5pm. It’s horrible. Overall, i will recommend this place because the room was presentable/clean despite the water supply issues. I felt my valuables is secured.. The hotel is 15 mins to the town which is easy to go to bars and restaurants. But in coron, have some diarrhea which is a common problem for tourist in coron due to their water contamination; so i recommend you bring bottled water with you at all times even for brushing your teeth. Avoid any drinks with ice. Thanks coron! Will surely be back.

Beach front hotel but this isn’t a beach to layout on. It’s where the boats dock but farther down the shore. Very pretty views so I can’t complain. Location was perfect. It was a quick walk to the madness but far enough to be able to sleep at night. Staff helped us with tuk tuks and let us use their phone as we didn’t have calling available. We stayed 4 nights? We didn’t ask for room service during our stay. One thing not unique to this hotel that I personally am not fond of is the lack of bedding. All the small hotels just have a sheet. For me, I don’t care if it’s 100 degrees, I need a blanket on top of me! I knew this before traveling so I brought my travel airplane blanket but still not big/thick enough. Anyway, nice hotel and great location. Breakfast included was typical pancake, toast, fruit, egg, and a few Asian dishes. Can’t complain about being fed.
