KKatKKGAfter we encountered a bad experience with a desert glamping resort in Dunhuang, we were a bit cautious with Dune when we booked it. However, after I communicated with the manager in Dune via WeChat, I was more confident as he was very polite and helpful. He helped us to booked a transfer from Turpan Airport to Dune resort. As our flight arrived Turpan in the evening, it was late when we arrived at Dune. The manager and another staff came to the entrance of the driveway to welcome us and helped us with our luggage. They took us straight to our tent, and they upgraded us to a bigger tent, too.
We woke up to this beautiful Kumtag Desert Sand dunes, right in front of our tent! It was so beautiful. As the off peak season started, we were the only guests there but the staff were serving us with delicious breakfast and dinner. The food was delicious and plentiful! The manager and staff were very attentive to our requests. One of the staff has helped us to arrange a local guide/driver to take us to the Kumtag desert for an exciting ATV ride and sand sliding. We had a great time. We ended up hiring the same guide, a pleasant and calm Uygur young guy to take us for some sightseeing and dropped us back to Turpan.
I would say to anyone who is looking for a real desert glamping, please come to Dune in Shahshan near Turpan instead of Dunhuang.

PPengguna TetamuTruly amazing hotel! We had a wonderfully bright room with a view of the sand dunes in front of us. Very tasteful and clean interior, with everything one could need. There is a laundry area (even with a drier) that can be used for free and the staff was very kind. We would love to stay there again one day!
Ps: they do accept foreigners!

Then arriving at the lobby, full of warmth north Wellington smiles, of staff, then the welcome water melon n the melon, helped us release the tensions of train ride,..
Then the comfortable, lodges, ( 2 lodges A frame , very comforting, the breeze n singing birds n 2 big pots of herbal tea with fragrant flowers, n rose,..lots of dried fruits, resin, figs n more,, later on, in evening the refreshing, melon n watermelon, , later in evening free coffee n chocolate cakes,,..
Breakfast, simple n enough for a day of activity, all the items for dinner raglan, n fried vegetables, n kebabs, , one of the best as long as I remember in recent years..
Thanks to the English speaking staff for organizing our trip route n selecting transportation..
Staff thanks for helping me find the best barber for my haircut,, which busy schedules , back home in Japan
Warmth n professionalism of staff are much more than our payment ..
We had to extend our stay twice,..we already missing the place..

惠惠youngI had a wonderful time staying at this hotel on my first trip to Turpan, Xinjiang. I had a very comfortable three-night stay. The room was warm and clean. The interior design was beautiful throughout the hotel. The restaurant staff, room service staff, and even the security guard at the entrance were all very friendly. However, I wish the young women at the front desk had been more welcoming.😊

SStuart McD.Lee was a great host, speaks excellent English, and was very helpful with suggestions on both things to do around Turpan and also border crossing how to info. The dorm was clean, and supplied with clean linen (make your own bed), and with an attached hot water bathroom. The lodgings are simple, but there’s plenty of space, and upon arrival I was invited to eat dinner (pictured) with Lee and some other guests—delicious! After dinner they screened a movie on an exterior wall.
The location is midway between the station and Turpan proper, neither of which are comfortable walking distance, but taxis are cheap and easy to get. The hostel is within easy walking distance of one of the very interesting water irrigation museums, and there’s a good Uighur restaurant about ten minutes away on foot.
If you’re on a budget, looking for a “traveller vibe” style place, and don’t mind the slightly out of the way location, this is a great option. Would stay here again.

AAniela13Really liked the place. They have a museum section and a walking area where they show the work of the Karez. That’s interesting. Great value for money since its included in the room price. The room itself could be more clean. The cleaning was only superficial and you can see prints on the floor and on the tables. The bedsheets were fresh and that is the most important part. The room are also very big.

PPengguna TetamuThe hotel was on a back street in old Turpan so it was quiet and in a pleasant area. The hotel room was good and we were upgraded for free. There is a lovely and extensive garden/patio which unfortunately we could only make minimal use because it was cold. The hotel was extremely clean and our room was cleaned every day without request and we were supplied with clean towels every day. The manager was very helpful, advising us on a number of matters, ordering a taxi for us, and permitting us to stay until 2:00 PM when we left because of a 4:00 PM train departure. The hotel provided a basic but very reasonably priced breakfast. And as all reviewers have noted, the hotel has a unique toilet.

22morrowsworldThis 4 star hotel has a goid rating on Trip.com and I can understand why. However, I liken this hotel to a 20 year old luxury car such as an E36 7 series BMW or Lexus LS 430. Exceptional and glorious when new, but getting old and tired fast.
On a superficial level the rooms look grand and sumptuous, but on greater scrutiny there are issues. One if these are the carpets, which are either in dire need of steam cleaning on a forensic level of thoroughness, or outright replacement. Some sections are worn and faded, while many odd bits and pieces can be found (and felt with bare feet), that seem to have escaped the attention of the room staff, e.g toothpicks, other miscellaneous refuse deposited by previous guests.
I booked a continental double room, for $68 AUD per night and there was a misalignment of the door with its frame. Large enough to see through to the outside! The room contained a sofa Comfortable enough but with fabric badly worn away. The white veneer paint on tables has seen better days.
Having said all this, overall, the hotel offers rooms of a relatively high standard. Ornate furnishings, large, extremely comfortable beds and pillows, a huge bathroom with sufficient water pressure and responsive hot water on demand (bathroom has a smart lighting arrangement which switches on via a sensor).
There are a dozen individual controls for room lighting. Lots of cupboards and drawers and powerpoints where needed. There is a gym but for some undisclosed reason is currently closed, of February 2024. Is a buffet style restaurant with several guests dining in it which looked very well staffed. Reception will go out of their way to give assistance with arranging tours, ordering taxis etc, and try to ensure guests are satisfied. In summary, the hotel looks good and to some extent is good, but may not be worth paying $50 US a night to stay in and was a little disappointing.

Iian_smashExcellent location. Right outside the main square. Staff was helpful and friendly. My room was upgraded to a window room. Thankfully as the aircon for some reason stopped working but I’m sure it’s just a glitch which can be fixed. I would stay there again and would recommend to others.
