My husband and I have visited Cringletie House Hotel before as ordinary travellers but this is our first time with a wheelchair and we are both disabled ( my husband with major disabilities) Rest assured, I use the word ‘ ordinary ‘ but no guests at Cringletie are treated as ordinary. The staff are amazing and all guests receive red carpet treatment. However, the hotel’s website lays claim to being completely wheelchair friendly and I was interested to see if that were the case. In such a historic building it is rare to find lift access to all rooms and public areas, and, with the exception of the conservatory, which could be accessed from the outside, we were able to use all public rooms. Traqair, the wheelchair suite on the ground floor, was superb, with rising chairs, beds and all bathroom facilities geared up to wheelchair use. It even had a fob on the key which opened and closed the door automatically. As anyone with a wheelchair knows, getting through doors is a perennial challenge. The only tricky part( two steps up from reception) is managed with a ramp, which the hotel puts up specially and ensures there are always staff to take the wheelchair up and down. So our stay was a luxurious treat with everything we could have wished for as disabled guests. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff . As for the hotel generally, I cannot praise too highly the attention to detail and superb service in every respect. Reception Always obliging, they will facilitate anything . In our own case, bookings had to be altered on more than one occasion and Harriet and Jodie were patience exemplified. Housekeeping Our stay presented many challenges and the housekeeping staff were superb. The hotel still offers a turn down service in the evening with chocolate gifts! It goes without saying that cleaning standards are 5 star Restaurant We are used to eating out at excellent, nationally renowned restaurants/hotels and Cringletie House is right up there.Excellent freshly cooked breakfasts and beautifully presented, perfectly balanced taster menu. Ingredients were of the highest quality. Front of house service was not overbearing but friendly and attentive. Unlike other establishments, we always felt comfortable Garden The gardener takes pride in the lovely walled garden and all grounds are really professionally kept. He must have to work very hard to maintain such standards, but the result is a superb setting for the hotel. The Owner Bill Cross exemplifies hotel ownership at its best. Every guest receives a handwritten note of welcome, and he is present, at different times of the day to chat to guests about their stay, one gets the impression that he misses nothing and makes sure that standards are maintained and guests are completely satisfied with Cringletie. He clearly takes pride in the hotel and this is reflected in all areas. So, if this review appears to be a glowing one, I can only say that in my experience, having travelled round the
