We arrived yesterday for a two night stay. After early breakfast this morning, we went for snorkelling tour at 8.00. Since we were going to be in water, we left all our belongings including wallet, phone, portable speaker etc. in the room, locked it and carried the key with us. After returning at 9.15 am we entered our room and found it cleaned and made up, although we had not asked for it or left our key. This Seems to be a custom in Indonesia for the staff to enter the room for cleaning even if you have not asked for it. After freshening up when we were ready to step out again, I checked my wallet and found 2 out of the 11 100k idr currency notes missing. Alarmed, I asked my wife to check as well and there were 2 20USD currency notes and 4 100k Idr currency notes missing from her wallet. We had tallied our cash just the previous night so we knew exactly how much we had. We immediately contacted the acting manager, Yuni at the reception. She was initially very casual. Only when I asked that I wanted to speak to the owner is when she became serious. She denied passing to us the owner’s contact. In the meanwhile her colleague hardy grabbed our key and said that he was going to check our room. The housekeeping supervisor on the other side was looking for the master key set. Yuni asked hardy to leave our key which he did but he went towards our room anyways. For the next 10-15 mins Yuni kept us engaged in the lobby saying they would try and search our room and solve the issue by noon or else after that they will call the police. She continued to be reluctant to connect us to the owner. Yuni, then led us towards the room outside which hardy was already sitting. When we unlocked our room hardy straight away wanted to check the inner pocket of my wife’s handbag kept in the room. He recovered three 100k IDR notes and two 20USD notes folded together from that pocket. Since we were both carrying our wallets to the lobby while complaining, they could not put the money back in their original position. Very clearly it is the joint effort of the staff at this hotel to steal parts of your cash which u may not discover unless well counted. However, 300k Idr was still missing. Yuni said she will check the cctv which she foolishly said could also be in the room. This made me really mad that they were breaching our privacy in the room. And Yuni admitted that there were no CCTVs anywhere in the property. She then quickly brought 300k IDR and handed them over to us. I still insisted I wanted to speak to the owner. Yuni remained defiant. Idit, the operations manager, who we were seeing for the first time came after sometime to apologise. And requested we did not talk to the owner or some staff may lose their jobs. As off writing this review we are still staying at this property. We are very afraid of leaving our bags back in the room now. And this has spoilt our holiday. The owner’s details have still not ben shared with us.
