Abbey House B & B

We really enjoyed our stay at Abbey House. The B&B was lovely and clean and our room was very quiet. The owner also gave us some great recommendations for places to visit for dinner. Our full English Breakfast (included in the price) was excellent too. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone who is thinking of staying in Penrith and it's an excellent choice for anyone wishing to travel to the nearby Lake District.

This is our 2nd stay with Vicki and Gary and we will definitely be back! They are both so welcoming and friendly! Their rooms are beautiful, comfortable and immaculate! The breakfast is beautiful quality and perfectly cooked! We can't wait for our next visit already!

Absolutely super guest house and so much nicer than one of the chain hotel and much better value. They have obviously spent quite a bit to bring it up to this standard. Everything was immaculately clean and fresh. Most importantly the bed was really comfortable and the room, thought not large had everything you need and was nicely done. My en-suite looked like it had been finished yesterday. It’s the thoughtful touches that make the difference like the bathroom towels is a full bath sheet, there some ladies hairspray in the bathroom drawer along with toothpaste. The full English, on top of the cereals and yogurt and juices, was good quality sausage and bacon and is beautifully presented at your table freshly cooked, not having been left on a hot plate for however long. It all shows they have thought about things and care. I arrived quite late and they recommended a nice Italian (Sicilian actually) place to eat which was great food at a very reasonable price just a short walk away. All in all a lovely stay and I heartily recommend it.

Fantastic B&B. Good location. The room was very spacious, immaculate . Very comfortable bed with quality bedding. Well stocked tea tray. Unfortunately I did not get to sample the breakfast.....but it smelt delicious ! The host was charming and very helpful. Highly recommend it , great value for money.

One night stop on the way to Scotland. Very friendly and good breakfast. Room comfortable. Good location for town and parking outside. All good really. Coffee and tea in rooms and water. Bathroom nice. Would use again for sure if we are up this way again.

This felt like a home from home. Vickie was extremely friendly. The room was lovely and cooked breakfast was delicious. Only a few minutes from lots of lovely shops and 20 minutes from the train station. I would heartily recommend this place.

This is now the second time we have stayed at Abbey House and our second visit was just as fantastic as the first. The bedrooms are spotlessly clean and newly decorated. There is great attention to detail, a chocolate on your dressing gown and homemade shortbread biscuits in a jar in the room. Vicky and Gary are lovely and friendly and can’t do enough for you. You can choose your delicious hot breakfast and time you’d like it the night before and there is also cereal, yoghurt, toast and fruit to choose from and endless amounts of freshly brewed coffee and all the flavours of tea you could want. The B&B is right in the centre of Penrith and only a 15 minute drive into the heart of the Lake District. There are lots of things to do within walking distance…a leisure centre, Lowther Castle, Brougham Castle, lovely walks along the river and some very nice shops, bars and restaurants in Penrith itself. I would nightly recommend staying here and we will definitely be back. Thanks Vicky and Gary for a wonderful stay!

Just spent a couple of days in Penrith celebrating our anniversary and stayed at Abbey House. Vicki, the owner, is so welcoming and gave us lots of tips about the area. I'm a clean freak and I can honestly say, Abbey House is spotless. We stayed in room 4 which is very spacious with a fabulously comfy bed and immaculate ensuite. There is a very varied breakfast choice from fruit and cereals to a number of cooked options. Abbey House is positioned right in the town so you can park up and easily walk everywhere. Thank you for a lovely stay Vicki, we will definitely be back.
