Namaka Resort Kamala

Namaka was a nice resort situated on the side of the mountain at Kamala beach. It sits above the tsunami danger line so the place feels safe. It is very private and quiet, the staff are friendly and also very helpful especially getting up and down the steep hill to get to your room. Breakfast in the morning was always such a treat, as they have a variety of foods offered ranging from light to heavy. There is also a very convenient Starbucks by the reception area that overlooks the ocean. They have two pools that can be used, a pool table in the lounge area, and a fitness center which is easily accessible. I would say the only downside is the parking- because of its location, there is limited space to park cars in the actual hotel grounds. Most guests who bring their own cars will have to parallel park on the side of the road outside the hotel.

This hotel is great ! Really nothing to say, the rooms are clean and modern, the view is incredible, the pools are magical, the food is super good, the staff is very very nice, you can go by foot to the beach, and if you want to go further, you can rent motorbike, can go by foot (20 minutes), or they have a shuttle bus to go to Kamala.

We stayed in early Dec 2024. Friendly staff. Service was generally good. Food was acceptable. But... 1) We were assigned the end room (2207) and half the view at the balcony was blocked by a big tree. Time for some serious pruning. 2) You could tell the room itself was alright but starting to get worn. You see rusts at the bottom of the tall mirror by the bed. 3) Wifi was difficult to connect. I had to call the service desk and enter the address 10.10.9.1 to connect on my iphone. Very difficult for the technologically-challenged. Generally wifi in the room was spotty and we got cut off from time to time (although the devices were connected). It was difficult to regain data so I had to resort back to my data plan. Very bad impression. 4) The TV was a big challenge. The TV said "no signal" with a black screen. So I dialled "0" and spoke with the front desk. A technical came to try to fix it by replacing the cable (the hotel was still using the old coax cable, not HDMI - a surprise to me). The best he could get us was a snowflake screen with some images. Both the technician and the front desk said that was "normal". It redefined what was "normal" to me. 5) The wall thermostat for the air-con was not working. Regardless of how I set it (I am literate enough to operate the dial and controls so I thanked the staff's reminder), it was still pumping out the same amount of freezing air. Very uncomfortable. 6) We almost got locked out in the balcony. After several times of going in and out, the dead bolt of the balcony lockset slowly came out, locking the door altogether. We had to fiddle with the handle to unlock it. So we were offered another room (2201). The mirror looked acceptable. Wifi still ******. TV was clear (reaffirmed my belief of what was "normal"). Thermostat control OK. Patio door lock working. Basic expectations. But... 6) There was not enough towels. We just had 2 big ones for shower, and an anti-slip one for the floor. No small ones. 7) There was not enough (actually no) shaving supplies. Also, it got too hot in the dining room by the pool where we had breakfast. (There was no air-con!) It was only early in the morning. I chose this hotel based on its location and orientation. Just a word of caution: You could not see sunset as the entire hotel property is under the shadow of the hill after 4PM. The location is remote. We had to call taxi (Grab) every time. Overall, the bad offsets the good. I wouldn't recommend it.

It is absolutely gorgeous! I was so surprised to see this beautiful resort when we got to it’s reception. Stunning views and well kept buildings. Service is great. Very clean room. They have shuttle to Kamala beach which is also a very beautiful beach (not to Patong anymore). Breakfast is great, with many choices. They also decorate our bed for our anniversary. This is the place for you!

Great hotel, location a bit too far, but the shuttle bus works, so that's a good thing. Also, this hotel has a Starbucks, so that's fun

First time to Thailand and choosed Phuket. No regrets! Hotel is superb. Free baby cot avail too. View is perfect. Just that, heading to our room needs to walk uphill but no worries as they hv buggy service to your room that takes only about 30 secs. Has a starbucks at the lobby! Halal breakfast avail as claimed by receptionist. About 15 to 20 mins drive from patong beach.
