Right from the time I booked over the ph to the time I left Nicci the on-site owner was supper helpful and friendly, I arrived early because of my flight so she stored my bag and the cleaners got my room ready asap While they were doing that Nicci told me to help myself to the complementary breakfast that she puts on every morning of cereal peaches toast and spreads. I had a double room with a onsuite that shared with the neighboring room you just locked their door when you used it and unlocked when you left it was a huge shower room. My room had a king size bed T.V mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Piwaka is in a great location at the top of the main st so you are surrounded by cafes shops and there is a great 4 square 2 min walk away...the waterfront is only a 5 min stroll.....I was off to outward bound and Nicci has offered to drop me off with my huge bag she was so helpful,Nicci also booked a day trip for me on the mail boat...a catamaran that delivers the mail through out the Queen Charlotte Sounds ....value for money...4hr boat cruise with amazing info on the sounds we delivered mail and goods to all the resorts and home owners I abslouty loved it!! Pikawa backpackers had every thing to make there guests feel at home games books a comunial lounge and TV comunial kitchen and fridges I even found wine glasses....all in all the price is amazing for what you get and it was great to know as a solo female traveler that Nicci lives here on site..... Thanks so much Nicci and Piwaka I wish you all the best x
Tombstone Motel, Lodge & Backpackers

I booked for 1 night and ended up staying 3 night. Top notch accommodation in one of their queen ensuite rooms - comfy bed with beautiful linen, an ever changing view of the harbour from my deck and everything was spotlessly clean. Hosts Barry and Nikki were very knowledgeable about Picton, transport and events; and very friendly too. Clean shared kitchen with huge fridges to store food. Free delicious home-made scones with butter and jam to boot. I liked the cats and a small dog that hung around - it all made Tombstone a very homely stay.
Escape to Picton Boutique Hotel

Escape to Picton is a luxury hotel somewhat oddly located in the little town of Picton. We stayed in the Formal Suite and what you might want to know is that there is no fridge or A/C. We needed to leave the windows open for cool air and it was somewhat noisy for a bit. The other thing is that to eat in the restaurant, which has a really intriguing menu, you need to give 24 hours' notice so they can prepare all meals to order. We didn't know this and were unable to eat there. On the positive side the suite was very roomy and comfortable and the staff (which seemed to consist of one extremely energetic person) was first-rate.
The Villa

The hostel location is excellent being close to ferry check-in and railway station. It is only 100m away and on the main road. There are 5 and 6 bed dorms with usual squeaky bunks. Nice kitchen, dining and quiet rooms and access to front verandah and garden. Hot tub in garde Said there was ”free breakfast” but never saw any. Tea and coffee available all the time. Friendly staff and a busy place.
Jasmine Court Motel

Great place to stay - very clean and well presented, with very friendly staff. Walking distance to London Quay, the main street, supermarket and the RSA is right next door- great evening meal. Our room was a good size with a separate bedroom and small kitchen. The bathroom has a spa bath with shower over it. A rubber mat is provided for safety which was most appreciated. The heated towel rail held 2 towels easily. Bed and linen all very good We could look out over the harbour and into Queen Charlotte Sound. Off street parking, free wifi.
The Gables B&B
4.2/530 Ulasan
We are travelling throughout New Zealand and have pre-booked accommodation every couple of days. On Thursday 7th March we took the ferry from North Island to South Island and booked into The Gables B&B for 2 nights. Things didn’t get off to a great start when the lady who met us stated we couldn’t park our car on site, only to later retract this and ‘allow’ us to park for one night only. We were shown to our room, a largish room with a double bed covered in 11 pillows and cushions and a single bed also covered in cushions and pillows. Much fuss was made of the offer of a small glass of wine from the Marlborough area. Our bathroom was across the landing, which we were unable to lock. Our room had no water or water glasses, no tea tray, no TV (we understand this is considered a historic B&B) and no bin. However, the whole room and house smelt really strongly of lilies, the smell was overpowering. We were tired so went to bed reasonably early, so were awake at 6.00am the following morning. My husband went to the communal lounge and dining room to get some tea at about 7.00am as we were gasping for a drink and there was nothing in the room! He was promptly told off by the host/proprietor who stated there was no access to this communal facility until 8.00am. He was then accused of waking up other guests. At breakfast the host then accused a Danish couple of breaking a window in a very aggressive manner, however, they had shown us a picture of the window hanging off on one hinge with a gale blowing through. It clearly needed maintenance. We had seen enough and decided to leave immediately, so packed up and left. We did not request a refund for the night we didn’t stay, but our accommodation provider did raise this only to be refused. The host stated we should have told him of the issues we had before leaving. We disagree, the whole experience, coupled with the stench from the lilies, meant we just wanted to get away.
