We will have to return in spring. If the garden is this good in winter, it must be awesome in springtime. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was so delicious and is a definite reason to visit. The hotel is old but comfortable and would not be my reason for not returning, I read reviews about the age of the hotel,but we enjoyed our stay and will return.

Hotel is lovely and some of the staff are well trained , however the staff at the bar?? My wife and I sat at the table reading the menu and that’s all we did , the gentleman at the bar served another couple and totally ignored us, not even to ask if we wanted anything.. then he happily trotted away while my wife had to go fetch someone.then when we finally got the gentleman asked us to go to the bar . This guy was rude . let’s face it, if you are offering a menu at the table at least have the decency to ask if we were looked after.. but I guess it’s in the too hard basket.. think I’ll rethink our next stay

Hard to know where to begin. The hotel is tired and run down, and the service haphazard. In my childhood this was where visitors to our place in Moss Vale would stay, and I’d always wanted to try it myself, as the grounds are so beautiful. So I decided to be a tourist in my own neighbourhood. Sadly, the hotel is way past its prime and the approach to customer service is very inconsistent. Some issues with security- my room was left open by the cleaners but luckily nothing was stolen. And like another person reviewing - just a few days before my visit it seems- I was also charged twice to stay here. It has gone from being a really upmarket place to stay to quite dreary. But here’s the icing on the cake: After staying at the hotel, I completed their online survey and was as honest as I could be, listing out the areas where I had been disappointed. Hopefully they use it to improve, right? About 2 minutes after hitting send, I received an anonymous phone call - no caller ID- from a woman saying that she just wanted to give me some feedback that I was rude and obnoxious and then just hung up on me. And you know what? I recognised her voice as the hotel receptionist ! Brilliant. You couldn’t make it up. How to top off a very average stay- with an anonymous hate call. Wow.

Completely run down and tired. The whole place is covered in cobwebs, inside and out. Art work is terrible. Some staff are very rude. I had prepaid but they charged my card a second time without consulting me, taking my card over balance and leaving me with no funds for my last day as the refund didn’t come through immediately. Nothing is being maintained well, even down to the billiard cue tips! Over promised and under delivered on a library and games room. The whole place is overheated, we turned off the radiator but still had to sleep with window open with broken fly screen. My feeling is that whoever owns this place gives mangers a shoestring budget so everything is gradually going to rubbish. I bought international guests with me as I wanted to show them my home town but this place was a real embarrassment. So sad that a heritage property is being let go like this.

Tired and run down Faulty Towers in Bowral in need of renovation. Black mould in the bathroom, dirty and torn carpets. Dowdy stale atmosphere. Needs to be shut down for renovation. Nice old gardens but also needing maintenance. We left early.

Went for birthday weekend to Bowral. Bought off luxury escapes as a deal Place looked absolutely charming and amazing gardens. Loved the fact it was old and had a lot of history. Rooms and bathrooms need a big renovation but was and clean and comfy bed. Gardens are amazing and so beautiful to walk around. Was extremely impressed with the restaurant absolutely amazing chef and food was Devine worth every cent. High tea was wonderful but just too much food even had to get a doggy bag to take home. Staff were extremely pleasant and extremely helpful especially Karen she was full of knowledge of hotel and she worked in different parts of hotel from bar - breaky- dinner obviously due to lack of staff.

What a bitter disapointment. ! Apart from the beautiful gardens it's not the place I remember when living in Sth Highlands for twenty years. Returned to visit my old business places and great friends. Now elderly, my daughter booked for two nights to revisit. Am slightly now disabled and found easy access to reception very difficult.One only disabled parking place around the back for 40 plus room accommodation is ludicrous if not illegal. Our suite was very dark, mouldy, cold and noisy. Well worn upholstered furniture and a hard bed. The breakfast staff were very friendly and hospitable. Average inclusive breakfast. The suite amenities bathroom etc average toiletries. The indoor pool was slightly heated still too cold to enter.Not a very accommodating for the prices charged. Would not recommend !!

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely old hotel. To be honest the furniture in our room was a little worn, ripped chair fabric etc and the communal areas have seen better days but the place is due for a complete overhaul soon which bring back it’s original appeal. The food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented . A very relaxing couple of days

The rooms were a bit tired, we were upset not to be able to dine anywhere on site (I know we whould've booked)
But the room service menu was awful, limited and impossible to order. Not everyone likes raw food, my wife is allergic to seafood amd that left nothing for us. Whats wrong with a nice (well cooked) burger for instance? Especially as we'd left home not having eaten as we thought we'd at least get a seat somewhere or get room service. Instead we had a pkt of chips and some snakes!
