My wife and I stayed at this luxurious hotel for two weeks in late-September/early-October. We had booked the hotel/flights/transfers via Voyage Privé (who I would highly recommend) at a very reasonable price, which included British Airways Business Class flights and half-board accommodation. I have travelled on BA Business Class flights for the best part of thirty years. And I am now of the opinion that it’s not worth paying the extra money on short-haul flights, as the level of benefits and feel-good factor one expects when travelling in this class, has drastically declined. The transfer from the airport to the hotel (operated by Cretan Holidays) was pretty straightforward, and when the driver pulled up outside the gates of the hotel, there was already one of the staff waiting to greet us. She introduced herself as Sarah (one of the receptionists), and was always a great help throughout the holiday. The hotel itself is hidden behind a high wall, but once inside it is like an oasis. The process of checking-in was done promptly and efficiently, and Sarah proceeded to give us a very comprehensive amount of information about the hotel. Whilst Sarah was dealing with the administrative matters, another member of the hotel staff (Ioannis) appeared with a tray bearing cold glasses of water, glasses of sparkling wine, cold face towels, and small pieces of oranges dipped in syrup. Everything on the tray was most welcome after our journey. Ioannis proceeded to take our cases and escorted us to our room, which was an Upper Floor Suite (No.325), and he took the time to inform us of all the aspects of the room, including the room safe. In my opinion, the suite we had been allocated was ideal, and probably was the best positioned. As well as being pool facing, its’ position allowed it to benefit from the sun for much of the day. Whereas, many of the suites on the opposite side of the pool to ours, failed to see any of the sun the whole time we were. I have no complaints about the food, as there was always a good selection for breakfast, as well as for the evening meal. I suppose my wife and I have been spoilt for many of the Greek Islands’ holidays we have had in recent years, in that we have enjoyed table service for the evening meal, whilst here it was a buffet restaurant. I’m not sure if everyone staying at the hotel the same time as us was all half-board, but for those that stay bed and breakfast then there are plenty of restaurants nearby to cater for all tastes. We did try The Halfway House one night, it’s only a stone’s throw from the hotel, and I can certainly recommend it. Most evenings there was always entertainment with singers and musicians performing by the pool? Those entertainers that appeared whilst we were there were all of the highest calibre, and we thoroughly enjoyed their performances.
