Casa Maria Hotel Apts

Nice location and okay place overall but had an inexcusable encounter with the reception. A guy in the reception broke GDPR laws and gave out the name of my girlfriend when some guys asked which girl lives in that room, so they could hit on her.

Wish I was back there and I hope Juliette the cat is OK. We arrived late and were given a cold bottle of water and shown to our room. All the staff were lovely and friendly especially the cleaning ladies. The girl on the bar (Olga?) Was also very nice and kept us going on snacks and drinks through the day which were pretty reasonably priced. Our room was by the pool bar so we stayed there during the day rather than using the front pool. Neither have a lot of beds but we never had an issue getting the beds we wanted and people moved about a lot so there were usually spare beds. There is also a garden area and a roof terrace with beds. We had a ground floor room and felt there was an issue with drain flies and we also had a few bites so would probably request a room off the ground next time. The apar**ents are just a 5 min walk to bars and restaurants but in a very peaceful area spoiled only by the occasional craw from the farmyard birds next door. I made a friend with the wee cat that the hotel staff have taken under their wing. It was nice to see them all look out for her and give her a wee scratch when passing. I liked that the locals in the area do seem to be nice to all the animals. There wasn't a lot of people from the UK that we came across in Platanias but we definitely didn't find this an issue in being understood or welcomed anywhere. Will hopefully be back again soon!

Stayed here for a week. Platanias is a rather run-down and dreary village and the hotel is just like that too. Located in a dull street environment, but close to the beach. The rooms are run down and boring. Extremely poorly equipped in the kitchen for self-catering; two glasses, one spoon, onefork, etc. It would absolutely not have worked if you had to cook yourself during the week. The best thing you can say about this place is that it is clean. The cleaning staff does a great job.

Nice staff, but hopeless location of the single rooms and pools. Most rooms with no actual balcony - only an extension of the staircase. Pool bar closed. More shadow than sun in both pools. My advice, stay away. Risk of getting disappointed is bigger than the opposite.

The staff could not have been nicer, nothing was ever a problem! The beach and restaurants are walking distance from the hotel. Rooms are cleaned every other day. Clientele are respectful on the noise levels.

Just back from a great week at Casa Maria. From the moment we arrived we were met with a warm welcome and shown to our room. The hotel is 1 street back from the main street with bars and restaurants and 2 from the beach but is pretty quiet most if the time (when next doors farmyard birds aren't shouting their heads off, but they are easy to tune out). We were in a room next to the pool bar so stayed there rather than the other pool. There are not a lot of loungers but we never had an issue getting beds and there always seemed to be a few available on the deck above the bar. Already looking to book to come back next year when it's not quite so warm so we can get out and about more and see the sites. I fell in love with the wee hotel cat Juliette and was sad to go but all the staff seemed to look out for her, which I think I says a lot about how nice they are - I think you can always judge people by how they treat animals and the staff here are second to none!

One block away from the main road’s supermarkets, restaurants and shops, and 2+ blocks away from beachfront facilities, Casa Maria was a family friendly spot. Room 106 was near to one pool and the poolside snack bar. Room 208 had a good view of the sea and was above the second, larger pool.

Our room was very nice and clean, kitchen and bathroom were good size. Our balcony was big. It was wonderful to sit there and have some wine. The location is good because its near the main road, but the surrounding area is quiet during night time. Great taverns near by. The hotel staff was absolutely fantastic and very helpful. I would gladly come back to Casa Maria :)

Elena and her staff were excellent and made us so welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The room we had was extremely clean and well equipped and we had lovely views from our balconies. Elena arranged a private taxi for us which made for a very easy transfer to and from the airport. The location was great just a bit back from the main town so was quiet but in easy reach of supermarkets and tavernas'. We ate in several local tavernas and always had excellent meals. Visited Chania town by bus which was very easy as the bus stop was just a short walk from Casa Maria. Would definitely recommend and we hope to be back in the near future.
