Worst stay ever. This was a reminder that I should ALWAYS check TripAdvisor reviews. We cut our stay short because we just could not stomach staying for our entire reservation--and only stayed as long as we did because we had medicine being shipped to our destination. When that package arrived, we left. On our arrival, we had a heck of a time getting the door open. Each entry required a swipe, pull & rattle the door handle, swipe again, pull handle toward you, push back will pushing handle down. Yes, every. Single. Time. we had to do those steps. When we first entered the room, there was an empty vodka bottle in the cupboard, the kitchen trash was full of empty beer bottles & garbage, and the dishwasher had undissolved soap and the most DISGUSTING funk and gunk inside. The surfaces did not appear wiped down in living room or kitchen. {We used Clorox wipes to clean surfaces and every wipe came away with something on it.} Thank goodness the sheets & towels smelled fresh. The hallway smelled musty -- and, each night, we could always smell another resident cooking their fish dinner. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and worn out to the point of any movement by other person in the bed resulted in the other person also moving around. On day three (remember, we were waiting for medicine delivery. Never would have stayed this long otherwise), I went to exchange the towels. Desk staff was on phone but tried to help me while staying on the phone. I was told to put the dirty towels in the wash bin and then I was told that there were not any clean towels to give me. I should have been told this BEFORE returning old towels. I had not showered yet and I was glad I brought a towel to use by the pool so I could at least shower before going out for lunch meeting. I was told new towels would be brought to our room. When I returned three hours later, the replacement towels were not there . I went back to the desk and was told ”They took all the clean towels” then the desk clerk vanished for a few minutes and did return with the towels. On day four, the fan & light in the shower/toilet room went out. When we went to the lobby to report this to the front desk: (a) Staff was so congested & ill that he should not have been working; (b) Staff said he'd tell maintenance but offered nothing in the way of a solution (change rooms, flashlight, credit). On day five, after five of our planned nine-night stay, our package arrived and we checked out early. That day's desk staff was the first staff person who made us feel HEARD and tended to; she was WONDERFUL. She apologized profusely for the problems, adjusted our stay-rate so we were not punished for checking out early, and said she'd look at getting us an additional credit for the poor condition of the room. Shame on me for not checking TripAdvisor and for assuming this Extended Stay America was at a level of quality as others we'd seen.
