Niramaya Villas and Spa

We had an incredible 5 nights at Niramaya villas in mid October. We have traveled to many luxury hotels across the world, Niramaya really stood out for us particularly in terms of value for money. We stayed in Villa 41 (2 Bedroom) 2 adults & toddler & a baby. we requested an infinity pool & received just that. The villa was stunning, gardens were immaculate, pool a nice temperature. The villa was spacious with beautiful bathrooms, double garage with a stunning view across the little lake. It felt very private and was quiet. We booked direct through the hotel which included a $100 food voucher per day. One thing to note is when travelling with young children the second bedroom is quite far from the Master bedroom. Our baby monitor range did not reach, as a result one of us had to sleep in the same room as our toddler which was fine. Also there are rainforest noises throughout the night, so if you are a light sleeper I suggest ear plugs. We want to thank Ranaul, he was a wonderful staff member who went over and above to make our stay memorable. We will definitely be returning!

This a harsher review than I would normally write. But I see others think similarly to me. The publicity and photos portray luxury. This is not luxurious and is unnervingly spartan in what it offers. Perhaps 3 star. It’s not altogether managements fault. There are practically no balconies and the rooms have no outlook. Such a shame when in the middle of the place, there is lush and pretty plant life. I am a Wyndham owner and have been for many years. But I have never encountered such meanness. Appliances in our room- virtually none. Not even a toaster on offer. As others have said, no thought given to how to dry beach or pool clothes. Charging owners for use of laundry is pusilanimous. My message to readers and management. The greatest asset here is the staff- helpful and courteous. But for Wyndham, this is a bad look and the facility needs a splash of generosity in approach and acceptable service.

I had a terrible experience at Peppers Beach Club Port Douglas. Upon entering our room, it had a musty smell that suggested it hadn’t been aired out in years. To make matters worse, the sheets were stained, looking disturbingly like blood. The room phone didn’t work, and when I tried calling the front desk from my mobile, no one answered after three attempts. We eventually had to walk down to the front desk to get the stained sheets replaced. I was staying for work for two nights, but our reservation was split into two separate bookings without any explanation. The staff didn’t mention this at check-in, and after our first night, we were abruptly told to vacate the room immediately. When I spoke with the front desk supervisor, she confirmed we were booked for two nights, but insisted we’d have to move to a different room because of the split reservation. When I asked if they could adjust the bookings so we could stay in our room, I was denied. They said incoming guests were expecting the room right away. Feeling shocked and upset, I quickly packed up our belongings and stored them in our car before returning to the front desk. The supervisor showed very little concern for our situation, and when I pointed out that this was their mistake, she didn’t seem to take responsibility. I explained that we were there for work and I needed to leave to see a client in 15 minutes, as we were using the room as a base. She told us we’d have to wait until 2 PM to check back in, but they could hold our luggage for us. Disgusted, I decided to cancel the second night instead of being ejected from our room and then forced to wait to check back in. We quickly found another place to stay for the rest of the day and night. Additionally, I’d like to mention our experience ordering drinks and snacks by the pool on our first day. The staff tossed the food onto our table without a word, and the plate hit the table with enough force to draw attention from other guests. I noticed at least three other tables received the same careless treatment. We paid good money for a hotel that should take care of its guests, and this is not the kind of service you expect. My company used to regularly book stays at Peppers Beach Club for work trips, but after this experience, that will no longer be the case. I’m still shocked by the lack of accountability from the staff and management. This has easily been one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had, and I’ve stayed in some pretty bad places. If you’re considering a stay at Peppers Beach Club Port Douglas, I recommend looking elsewhere.

We must be honest our expectations weren't high for our stay at this property. With so many mixed reviews and the lagoons currently going through a rolling renovation program. However, we were only staying for a night to celebrate a close friends 50th birthday so we thought why not give the place a try. Of course, we now wish that our stay had been much, much longer. From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed every single team member went out of their way to ensure that we had the best possible experience. Friendly, down to earth, professional and completely guest centric. As for our room we had the privilege of being upgraded to a King Large Lagoon Pool Access room. Spacious and beautifully appointed to say the least but the direct access to a private and large lagoon pool was simply sublime. We also had the opportunity to enjoy Feast restaurant twice for breakfast which was perfect for us. It also has a view over many lagoons and numerous palm trees so a very serene way to start each day. Not to mention the massive atrium space that it sits within. Before we headed out to dinner we decided to have drinks at Harrisons restaurant. With a superb atmosphere, wine menu and yes a very experienced and professional team. It was hard to leave for dinner. With a special mention for the amazing Emma. Suffice to say that we will be returning again and for a week next time. Thank you so very much - Steve, Tom, Matt, Joe, Caysea, Kathy, Neel, Emma, Luciano, Nachos and Leo. What a wonderful team of delightful humans.
