Unfortunately, staying at this hotel was not one of my better experiences with Choice Hotels.
I called to ask if I could check in early, as my travel plans had me getting there dinner than I expected. The man answering the phone said “sure, no problem”
When I got there they checked me into a3rd floor room (rather than 1st floor, as I had requested) because they said they had been full the night before and were still cleaning, but no worries-there’s an elevator.
Getting the luggage trolley through the narrow door and down the (outdoor) narrow hallway to the elevator was quite the feat, and then to the back of the hotel to the farthest corner to a room facing the parking lot.
I am a Platinum member and I had really hoped for better, so I went back downstairs to ask for a different room (possibly with a view of the pool - that was on my original reservation request) and was given a room closer to the elevator with much easier access to stairs and also the part of the parking lot - where I should have been directed to park for either room!
Got settled in, only to realize that on one of the shelves was a half smoked joint, with other drug paraphernalia.
Annoyed considering it was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but that also housekeeping didn’t remove it.
The rest of the stay was fine, although I was a bit disappointed in the water pressure. The shower was little more than a drizzle, and I had to work pretty hard at juggling the handle so the toilet would flush.
