I managed to live in a hostel and it was normal, and clean enough, the service is excellent.

The hotel is amazing. It's very clean and chic. The bar abd rooftop lounge are an added bonus! There's a very cute drag bar right across the street. The only downside is that parking around here is tricky. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING, AND I MEAN ANYTHING, IN YOUR CAR.

If you want a low budget but high cost-effectiveness, this is a good choice, but one disadvantage is that there are many homeless people around, but they are not very aggressive.

It has a superior location, warm service, simple and fashionable style, and combines the characteristics of an international youth hostel and a check-in B&B.

Today I encountered the most friendliest professional front desk agent that found it possible for me and my father to stay for the night. I want to thank Piper, Luna and Raven for a pleasant stay at The Society. Me and my father are extremely grateful for the hospitality.

I saw rats and roaches in the room. Sheets weren’t changed, and pretty sure I saw blood on the walls. DO NOT STAY HEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. You are likely to get attacked by bed bugs, which I’m sure was on the unchanged sheets. Travelers BEWAREEEEE!

Incredible customer service. Such a rare thing in this day and age. We had to cancel our booking unexpectedly and response from the front desk was swift and their staff super friendly. Thank you 😊 We will definitely book here each time we visit Portland.

I love historical architecture and one of my favorite things about the Society Hotel, is that there was clearly a lot of love and care put into the renovations. I come to the hotel regularly because I love the cafe on the ground floor! All of the pastries, which are made by the owner's mom, are the best in town. And in the spring and summer, I love to grab a glass of wine and sit on the rooftop garden. The view is amazing. It's such a treasure in Oldtown!

My boyfriend and I went on a month long road trip along the West Coast highway and along the way spent 3 nights at the Society Hotel. Of all the places we stayed during our travels this may have been our favorite. The staff was unbelievably accommodating, helpful and caring. Not to mention the actual hotel was unbelievably charming yet well-maintained with a gorgeous rooftop patio overlooking the city. I cannot express enough how happy we were with our stay!!!

The staffs are friendly but it reminded me of the Amtrak train I just got off… no coffee maker, no microwave but at least the Amtrak got utensils and condiments. This place get nothing but a fridge. You have to buy food and drinks from their cafe or walk out to eat. Location is good right at old town Chinatown but I can’t call it a bargain.

Lovely, quirky hotel. Staff were exceptionally friendly and the hotel bar was a pleasant place to eat or drink. The area has plenty of character! Rooftop garden was nice. Room itself wasn’t huge but was big enough and was well equipped, comfortable and nicely decorated. Shower was big and powerful.

I read the reviews and had a pretty good idea of what I was getting into. It's a hostel, not a luxury resort. It's not in the nicest part of town, but I kept my head up and was fine. I thought the complimentary ear plugs were a nice touch, as were the robes. Although there were shared bathrooms, at least there were in-room sinks. What I didn't appreciate, however, was the big wad of (seemingly clean?) tissues balled up underneath the covers when I pulled 'em back - whether it was a test for the cleaning staff or a practical joke, I'm not sure, but either way I think they should review their cleaning standards.
