location is just 5 minutes from the TRINDADE station where very good from the airport and the coach station on public transport ,all walking distance in Porto with all the public transport plus shops and bars restaurants .

Lovely hotel in Porto. What made it for me was the rooftop area and the bar service on the 8th floor, it was so calming and peaceful. Little things let this stay down for me however, in particular house keeping. I was there for a total of 5 nights and twice I had to go ask for more water and towels. They didn't replenish coffee, or even change the dirty coffee mugs for clean ones. As I say just the things you would expect. Location was good, but not fantastic for being right in the life of things without hilly climbs.

I arrived at the hotel on 20 November 2022 for a 5 night stay. The stay was business related and with so many hotels to choose from, I decided to go with the Porto Palacio. What an excellent choice! The hotel is absolutely brilliant - I cannot find a fault. Check-in was very smooth and on arrival to the room - wow - very modern, crisp clean sheets on the bed and a spacious room. In terms of food, the Breakfast experience was the best part of the stay for me. I have stayed in many hotels around the world - both on a personal basis and a business basis - I can honestly say that the breakfast staff at the Porto Palacio are the best I've ever come across. On arrival, I was seated quickly. On Day 1, the staff members memorised what I had that cannot be chosen by the buffet - for example, a tea and two plates (as I like two plates) - on Days 2 and for the rest of the trip, I didn't even need to ask. I was called by my Title and Surname on arrival. The whole experience was brilliant. I would like to mention a lady called Rosa and another lady (they both greet staff members at the door) - their hospitality skills are great and they are always smiling - nothing is too much for them. I didn't eat at the restaurant in the evening but had room service as personally, I like to relax after a day at the office. The food was of good quality and was tasty and piping hot. I used the gym during my stay - the gym is open to members of the public, therefore is not your usual hotel gym. It's huge - there are loads of machines and I was never waiting for someone to finish using something. Staff members are friendly. All in all - a brilliant stay and is a genuine 5 star hotel! I will return to the Porto Palacio both on a business basis and also on a personal basis - Porto looks like a great city! It's a shame that I didn't have time to look around as I had a busy schedule but I will certainly be back! Thank you!!

Decent hotel, very clean not too far from the tourist places. All the staffs are very nice. Especially Ms. Sophia (Breakfast Buffet Area) who’s always present whenever we need anything. The room is clean, they clean everyday but they forgot to refill the liquid body soap container. Needed to ask the reception for a refill and they’re action was prompt. It’s just that it’s a bit hot (AC not so good) Overall, we had a lovely stay.

The hotel is really nice situated in a central location. It matches new design, embedded into old walls in a stylish yard. The vibe is really special. It has a classy groundfloor restaurant and a rooftop bar with a beautiful view of the river. Rooms are spacious, cosy and very clean. Some small details could be improved, like a shower door scratching against the floor, or a funny smell coming out of the overhead unit. But generally, very well designed and maintained. We also got a stunning balcony! Fire doors need some attention in the staircase as without door stoppers, they slam incredibly strong. Could be a health and safety issue, but certainly a very loud noise. The restaurant serves really good food and has a nice selection of wines. My only complaint was no ironing board in the room :) as a result we requested for my shirts to be ironed for ”tonight” on the same day, specifically stating they do not need to be washed. When our anniversary dinner came, we were told the shirts would be ready at the end of the day, obviously too late as we had to leave. When raising this, the lady who I believe managed the staff (so sorry I forgot the name!!), went above and beyond and made sure we get it on time. She saved the night, which we are very grateful for! I can really recommend the hotel, a great place to stay in Porto. Could be a bit cheaper I guess :)!

Location good with free transfer to the city center, room very quiet , restaurant very good , we taste fransesinha is one of the best dish in Oporto . We been recevi with a free welcome drink Oporto wine .

Hotel was probably about 0.5ml from Marques metro stop. No issues on arrival slightly earlier than official check-in and allocated room on third floor. Room was reasonable size, clean, but with limited storage facilities and no safe. Twin beds were basic and not overly comfy but acceptable. Shower was like turning on a tap (no spray) and bathroom became very hot as internal and contained hot water cylinder. Towels were not changed but left to dry for re-use so trying to reduce energy use. Breakfast was reasonable, had to ask for cold milk for cereal as only hot provided. Rest was rolls, ham, cheese and jams. Coffee was a bit stewed and strong with fruit juice available. Check out straightforward with bill as expected, and able to leave luggage for later collection. No close by restaurants found for evening meal but several cafe's for snacks in the area.

The Portus Cale Hotel exceeded our expectations. It was spotlessly clean everywhere. Our room was quiet snd spacious, the bed was very comfortable with nice bed linen and good pillows. The bathroom was huge, the water was always hot and there was Dove hand-wash and shower gel. provided. The air con was very quiet and efficient. There was a small fridge and a kettle (take your own tea bags and coffee). The double glazing was very effective and blocked out the street noise below. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We were room only so can't comment on the breakfast. There are 2 large supermarkets 5 minutes walk away. There's a lovely tea room next door, open to 11 pm, selling cakes and light meals. It's very popular with the locals. So is the little grill restaurant next door, and there's a nice Italian restaurant 5 minutes walk away. Although it's a 45 minute walk to the historic centre of Porto, there are many regular buses from virtually outside the door, and the Casa Musica metro station is just 10 minutes walk away. The bus fare is 5 euros for 2 people no matter how far you go on the buses. The buses are cash only unless you've bought a travel pass. The nearest beach (Praia Inglesias) is a short bus ride away. We would highly recommend The Portus Cale Hotel and we preferred its location away from the noise and crowds of central Porto.

Old school hotel with modern amenities. Great location with plenty of restaurants nearby. Especially if you turn left when you walk out the door and walk straight ahead for a few minutes. Apparently there’s supposed to be a market, Porto Belo, close by on Saturdays, but it wasn’t on when I was there, which led to confusion for a number of tourists - including me 😊

Stayed four night as a base for Porto centre. Would give it 3.5 if possible to use halfs. Rooms were clean although showing signs of wear. Bed made up daily and fresh towels. Lack of shelf space in cupboard. Used for breakfast once but also tried the Mitica Inspiracao out of the back door twice for a more relaxed setting and no temptation to overfill v the buffet. Shower has good temperature and flow. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Nearby supermarket for anything you need. The bus from the airport took 50 mins during the morning midweek, and initially goes away from the hotel before heading back towards it. If I was doing it again I would take the Metro to Ramalde the nearest stop and then get an Uber to the hotel. The airport Metro is just behind the road at arrivals. Bus 304 seemed the quicker bus than the 300 or 301 into town. Had issues with bus reliability getting back from town after 8pm using information from route planner on Google maps .. chasing round various bus stops near the Town Hall Square to no avail. Ended up prefering to get the Metro back to Ramalde and then €3 for an Uber. Opted to use luggage lockers at Trindade Metro, €6 small for upto 12 hours rather than detour back to the hotel on the last day. Other sizes available but limited availability.
