Hotel berhampiran La Place Concept, Porto

Lovely location in Foz for people who prefer to stay somewhere calmer than the centre of Porto. You can catch a 500 bus nearby or the tram (about 500m from hotel). The hotel is near the beachfront and overlooks a castle. The best points are the panoramic roof view out to sea, bar and pool area. There is some underground parking available. The staff were extremely helpful and even helped us get our car out of the garage. We had a large vehicle (Toyota Hilux double cab) and managed to park it in the underground car park. If you are a confident driver you can get it in. The hotel was extremely clean. Breakfast was busy but still managed to appear calm. This is a good hotel for the price in a good location. The rooms were a little hot but you can open the windows. Would we come back? Yes.

Habituée à voyager à travers le monde entier dans des hôtels comme dans des auberges de jeunesse, chez l’habitant ou même en camping, je n’avais encore jamais eu d’expérience de la sorte. Certes, la nourriture du self est mangeable et il ne faut pas être exigeant. J’étais avec 3 amies dans une chambre qui donnait sur des tours et nous empruntions les douches communes et WC. Sur les 3 WC, aucun ne fermait à clef. Aussi, quand nous sommes arrivées nous avons eu la bonne surprise d’avoir des poils et cheveux sur nos draps. Bien sûr, le personnel est accueillant mais lorsque nous avons vu une punaise de lit (VOIR PHOTO) sur un de nos matelas, il n’a pas fait le nécessaire. En effet, il s’est contenté de venir dans la chambre afin d’asperger la punaise de lit avec une bombe spéciale puis il l’a retirée avec un mouchoir et a seulement changé le drap du dessous. Il nous restait encore l’autre moitié de la semaine dans cette auberge et nous n’avons pas changé de lit ni de chambre alors que les punaises se trouvent dans les matelas et nécessitent donc une intervention spéciale. Étonnamment, je suis allée voir les avis sur l’auberge et j’étais loin d’être la seule à avoir trouvé des punaises de lit. En bref, je vous déconseille cette auberge si vous voulez passer un bon séjour à Porto.

The facilities are great and very modern. The breakfast was amazing and had, in fact, a big variety of choices.

Accueil chaleureux,chambre spacieuse mais malheureusement pas celle prévu d'origine, nous d'evions avoir un lit Queen ou king size nous avons eu au finale 2 lit simple. Les recouches sont bien faites par les femmes de ménages. Un peu chère pour le prix mais très beau hôtel . L'eau est payante faites attention

Reservei este hotel em 2021, a reserva foi confirmada e enviada para o meu email, contudo, quando chegamos no dias 15/07/2022, qual o nosso espanto quando dizem que não tem nenhuma reserva registada no meu nome, obviamete que mostrei email à rececionista que tal como nós estava incrédula, o pior é que o hotel estava cheio. Lá conseguiram resolver e espetaram connosco num quarto de reserva atrás da receção. Bom o que dizer! O quarto era super antiquado, o a/c nem funcionava, tentamos abrir uma janela mas foi uma missão quase impossivel, quando conseguimos tivemos de voltar a fechar por causa do barulho das máquinas. o chão era alcatifado e todo sujo e em péssimo estado, para não falar que era local de passagem para o restaurante. Uma experiência tão má! Ponto positivo o wc tinha sido renovado. Na noite seguinte lá conseguiram colocar-nos num quarto no 1º andar, honestamente em infraestruturas era quase igual, contudo, o wc era péssimo o chuveiro esguichava por todo o lado. Honestamente acho que foi o pior 4 estrelas em que já estive. Ao menos o pequeno-almoço era razoável. O atendimento ao cliente por email também é muito mau aliás desvalorizam mesmo o cliente, acho que nunca tive uma experiência tão má.

Booked for a week long stay in this hotel, & was disappointed on arrival. Receptionist was rude, the room was completely visible from the street with no privacy curtains, so we could either keep the blackout curtains completely closed or have absolutely no privacy from a very busy intersection. Also, the toilet seat, bathroom door & air conditioning were all broken or faulty. We didn’t make a fuss because we were planning to spend our days out & at the beach, which is 10 min walk away. But we then had a family emergency back home & had to cut our trip short, & rearrange our flights urgently. We asked about getting a partial refund for the days we couldn’t stay, offering to pay a cancellation fee, as we were trying to pay for last minute flights home. The receptionist was INCREDIBLY rude & dismissive. He not only refused to help, but told us to “go away” for a few hours, saying he would call management but refused to do so on the spot, for no reason. We told him we were in a hurry trying to arrange flights home & he simply shrugged, annoyed. He didn’t try to call anyone or suggest he couldn’t at that time, he was simply refusing to & told us to go away for a few hours, when we were trying to make urgent arrangements. I called Urban Hotel offices seven times with no response, emailed about the situation & got no assistance, no refund, no credit, no basic help. An utterly subpar hotel, but the lack of politeness, basic respect & compassion was appalling. Would advise against staying here.

The rooms are clean and relatively spacious. Interesting enough, they give a complimentary bottle of wine to elite members which is something I have not seen before in other Marriotts. The staff are some of the friendliest I’ve seen, each taking their time to ensure you have a comfortable stay. One of the members, Miguel, if I remember his name correctly, gave us a lot of tips on what to explore in Porto. There honestly isn’t too much to elaborate on, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stay in Porto. The only slight problem is the elevators don‘t always seem to function properly, but it’s a minimal issue as they take care of it rapidly.

I arrived at the hotel on 20 November 2022 for a 5 night stay. The stay was business related and with so many hotels to choose from, I decided to go with the Porto Palacio. What an excellent choice! The hotel is absolutely brilliant - I cannot find a fault. Check-in was very smooth and on arrival to the room - wow - very modern, crisp clean sheets on the bed and a spacious room. In terms of food, the Breakfast experience was the best part of the stay for me. I have stayed in many hotels around the world - both on a personal basis and a business basis - I can honestly say that the breakfast staff at the Porto Palacio are the best I've ever come across. On arrival, I was seated quickly. On Day 1, the staff members memorised what I had that cannot be chosen by the buffet - for example, a tea and two plates (as I like two plates) - on Days 2 and for the rest of the trip, I didn't even need to ask. I was called by my Title and Surname on arrival. The whole experience was brilliant. I would like to mention a lady called Rosa and another lady (they both greet staff members at the door) - their hospitality skills are great and they are always smiling - nothing is too much for them. I didn't eat at the restaurant in the evening but had room service as personally, I like to relax after a day at the office. The food was of good quality and was tasty and piping hot. I used the gym during my stay - the gym is open to members of the public, therefore is not your usual hotel gym. It's huge - there are loads of machines and I was never waiting for someone to finish using something. Staff members are friendly. All in all - a brilliant stay and is a genuine 5 star hotel! I will return to the Porto Palacio both on a business basis and also on a personal basis - Porto looks like a great city! It's a shame that I didn't have time to look around as I had a busy schedule but I will certainly be back! Thank you!!

Room was very clean but very small

Stayed four night as a base for Porto centre. Would give it 3.5 if possible to use halfs. Rooms were clean although showing signs of wear. Bed made up daily and fresh towels. Lack of shelf space in cupboard. Used for breakfast once but also tried the Mitica Inspiracao out of the back door twice for a more relaxed setting and no temptation to overfill v the buffet. Shower has good temperature and flow. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Nearby supermarket for anything you need. The bus from the airport took 50 mins during the morning midweek, and initially goes away from the hotel before heading back towards it. If I was doing it again I would take the Metro to Ramalde the nearest stop and then get an Uber to the hotel. The airport Metro is just behind the road at arrivals. Bus 304 seemed the quicker bus than the 300 or 301 into town. Had issues with bus reliability getting back from town after 8pm using information from route planner on Google maps .. chasing round various bus stops near the Town Hall Square to no avail. Ended up prefering to get the Metro back to Ramalde and then €3 for an Uber. Opted to use luggage lockers at Trindade Metro, €6 small for upto 12 hours rather than detour back to the hotel on the last day. Other sizes available but limited availability.
