Don't even think about staying here. Our flight touched down and we made our way to the Portsmouth Motel 6 on London Blvd, arriving June 11, 2022 at nearly midnight, ready to enjoy a good night's sleep in a no-frills motel. We planned to wake up and drive two hours to our destination. We paid $160 per room, so $320 for the pair we got (maybe the price was inflated due to Harborfest, which was occurring that weekend). The rooms were, bar none, the worst rooms we had ever seen, at any price. There seemed to be a significant amount of tattooed foot-traffic milling about the parking lot, but we made our way up the dirty steps to the second floor. On the way to our room, one room we passed had the curtain open, and names and numbers had been hastily painted in large white letters over the orange wall next to the bed. We soldiered on. When we got to our room, we were disgusted by the exceptionally poor maintenance, and the age and condition of the bedding and towels. Caulk was globbed on, as if applied by an orangutan with an AR-15. The bathroom had areas that looked clean higher up, but the floor and lower walls had been caulked within an inch of their lives, and those big wads of caulk harbored all kinds of dirt that could not be adequately cleaned. The doorstop looked like it had been chewed by rats and then painted. The doorknob and lock panel appeared to have been kicked out and reinstalled with caulk to hold it in place. The towels were thin and a dingy grey; towels in this shape donated to Goodwill would not be considered salable. The pillowcase had a black stain that might have been mold, the sheet looked to have a dirty footprint. Both were threadbare. After checking the place out, we decided we would rather drive two hours and sleep in the car. Our daughter's room had a hole knocked in one wall and dead bugs. We went down to the front office to get our money back and return the key cards. We were refused. The clerk was pleasant, but was only authorized to receive payment, not to make refunds. She texted someone who was authorized, but got no response. We left, with instructions to call back and speak with a manager. We called daily, sometimes multiple times a day, for four days; the manager was never available. We were referred to one person after another, none of whom ever called us back. Every human we ever were in contact with had no authority to refund our money and passed the buck to someone else. This has been turned over to our credit card company. The rooms were not worth the $160 each we were charged, weren't worth $60, and I wouldn't have stayed in such squalor if they had been $6. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY! Should be renamed Motel 666.
