Great location, great staff, excellent food. Garden is exceptional. Rooms were comfortable, clean and well kept. Staff in the restaurant and the bars were friendly and very attentive. The only slight criticism that you could make is that the reception is a little small with only being manned by at most 2 people.

We just returned from our trip to Lake Maggiore where we stayed at the Grand Hotel Majestic at the end of our Viking Cruise. The hotel was wonderful as were the amazing staff. A big shout out to Marianna who was so helpful in arranging a private boat with Pierre and making dinner reservations for our group of 5. We all absolutely loved the hotel and the whole area which was non touristy, quiet and peaceful. The veranda was so nice at the end of the day . We cannot wait to return.

Hotel Villa & Palazzo provided a most pleasant experience alongside Lago Maggiore. It is an exquisite venue with lovely gardens and well appointed rooms as well as elegant public areas and dinning restaurants. The staff is most pleasant and handled every detail of our stay with expertise and the very best practice of warm hospitality. Even when we experienced an issue, the staff fully collaborated with us and made the appropriate arrangements to resolve the issue in a most expedient manner. I wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Villa & Palazzo for a lovely weekend or an extended and relaxing vacation contemplating the beauty of Lago Maggiore as well as that of the entire area of Stresa and beyond.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise and a highlight of our trip in the northern lake regions of Italy. We had to leave the Lake Como region as we were only able to find one night for an acceptable hotel there (i.e. clean and not run down), so we drove on to Lago Maggiore hoping our newly booked hotel would be as wonderful as the pictures showed. We ended up staying two nights and we were very sad to leave onto the next portion of our trip! To put it into perspective we came from a Hilton to this hotel and while the Hilton was impressive, there was something more pleasing and charming here. It is a completely new hotel along Lago Maggiore. Having finished construction in late August/early September, they had almost no wear and tear in the hotel. It is also ideal as it is located close to a ferry location, no more than 10 minute walk. This made it ideal for visiting the other islands around the lake. Their downstairs dinning room for breakfast and dinner were absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough about the chef or the professionalism of the staff. The knowledge of their maître d' taught us so much not only about the different food and wines, but the history and culture of this beautiful Italian city. They have a roof top area for lunch and I do recommend you use it as the view is spectacular. It is a relaxing way to spend the evening. Also, as it is located right along the lake, there is a long access of walkway just on the other side of the street to stroll and enjoy the views of not only the lake but some of the islands you may visit. A good consideration when having to walk off the excess meals you are sure to delight in! If you are in the norther lake region, do make Stresa a planned stop. I believe you will enjoy it much more than Lake Como as it is far enough from Milan so that it does not suffer as much from traffic congestion as Lake Como. And if you are staying in Stresa, look no further than here.

The hotel property is located on the lake side just outside Stresa in Baveno. This is a big plus for the hotel since it has a decent size flat manmade beach with loungers and a private dock to swim off. Also there is no road noise since the hotel blocks it and the balconies have stupendous unobstructed views. The hotel wasn’t busy so we enjoyed our balcony without any neighbors on adjacent balconies (so no outdoor smokers phew). The room and bath were comfortably sized. However, the decor is Tony Sopranos over the top. The food we ordered from room service was acceptable, like a solid B-. Air conditioning is controlled by the main desk and our room didn’t get cool enough so neither of us had a good night’s sleep. The pool area is set aside with loungers on the lawn separated by a hedge. And we were told at our room rate, we’d have to pay 12 euros each to use the gym.
