I've stayed in this hotel before, and I keep returning since it's affordable, safe, and has decent rooms and a spacious parking lot—features that other hotels in Palawan lack.I've recently noticed that they no longer offer airport service, although they have contacts for taxi drivers in case you need one. However, it would be great if they could add the airport pickup and drop-off once more for a hassle-free trip, especially for those visiting Palawan for the first time .Being somewhat honest, some taxis, vans, and tricycles take advantage of tourists by charging them more than the normal.

Trip started with Kuya Darwin, one of their very friendly and competent drivers. Super near and accessible to nearby tours that you can book at the front desk. Our room was quite modern with a spacious and comfortable bed, with just the right amount of pillows! Food and drinks were a highlight being very affordable with great serving sizes! Overall great stay with all the amenities you need.

This place is obviously still struggling from the effects of the Covid lockdowns. The staff is the best part of this place. The air conditioner is undersized & has a daylight gap all around it. The room refrigerator is worthless because its electric circuit shuts down when you leave the room. Who wants to come back from a trip & grab a warm drink from the ref? Breakfast buffet is pretty slim. They post signage asking you to conserve water, but they don't even include water saving faucets or shower heads. And then there were the bugs. If I had known that they are offering 'Hourly Rates' I would have avoided this place.

Has friendly, approachable and professional hotel staffs, rooms are opened using a key card - spacious with minimalist designs, beds and comforters are nice, with free water bottles, water heater and coffee. Also comes with clean toilet with free toiletries (towel, toothbrush & toothpaste, comb, razor, soap, shower cap & vanity kit [cotton buds] also includes free rubber slippers for all around and comfy use) as well as hair dryer/blower attached at the side of bathroom mirror, the room also has a vault safety box, flatscreen TV and mini refrigerator. The buildings have elegant structures. They also have really great swimming pool area! We got a room that is pool access and it made our stay more wonderful. Foods are delicious. Great buffet set up. Sunset can be watched at the rooftop of the gazebo near the seashore. You can borrow and ride a bicycle inside the hotel premises and do kayaking if the sea is high tide. Very nice and instagrammable place! Will definitely come back here for sure.

Had the best time at The Funny Lion! They provided complimentary airport transfers and bikes, which made getting around so convenient. The staff helped us book tours and rentals, making our trip hassle-free. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with free tote bags, drinks, coffee and fruits. The variety of complimentary fruity drinks was a delightful touch. They're SUPER accommodating. Shout-out to Desiree and their general manager, Mike. And especially, Livia that's been in contact with me via WhatsApp. She on top of everything.
While the food is a bit pricey, the 999 Saturday dinner buffet was super worth it. Our room was impeccably clean with the most comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom was spacious, very clean, and had excellent water pressure. We appreciated the bidet and the abundance of towels. The peaceful atmosphere made our stay even more enjoyable.
They also gave us complimentary cookies and friendship bracelets when we checked out and even brought us to the airport. As first-time visitors to Palawan, The Funny Lion gave us the best vacation ever. Highly recommend!

I recently attended the October Fest at Canvas Hotel with my friends, and it was a fantastic experience. The hotel had a wide variety of cocktails and delicious food options, including some mouthwatering pizzas. It's an awesome place for bonding and having a great time. One highlight was the ”Chill Night” they host every Friday, which added to the fun and made the evening even more enjoyable. The hotel itself was in great condition, clean, and well-maintained, which definitely enhanced our experience. I must give a special shoutout to the waiters at Canvas. They were all incredibly accommodating and made our visit even more enjoyable. Also, a big thanks to Ms. HR for arranging this wonderful bonding. She's always so accommodating, and it's greatly appreciated. Overall, our time at Canvas Hotel was a blast. We had a lot of fun and genuinely enjoyed ourselves. I'm now looking forward to planning a staycation with my family there and will definitely recommend it to my relatives and friends. It's a place where good times are guaranteed!

This is supposedly the only 5 star resort in the area which is sad as I think competition might actually inspire them to do better. The place itself is very nice and initial impressions are quite excellent. But the longer we stayed the more we noticed the lack of upkeep in the rooms. The size of the bathroom is big but there is not a single electrical outlet inside so you cannot plug in anything not even the hairdryer. The shower glass door does not close shut and with the very strong water pressure you can be assured of a very wet overflowing floor outside of the shower enclosure. We paid for 2 extra persons in the room which they informed us meant sharing the beds and breakfast inclusive but they don’t automatically provide the extra towels. Even after calling them to request for more towels they still took more than 2 days to give us our extra towels. The water in the pool is quite warm and not refreshing as the heat of the sun kept it quite warm but some of our friends actually liked it that way so it’s more of a personal preference. The drying rack in the balcony is a nice touch as we can dry our swim clothes there. There are also water dispensers in the hallway which is great for refilling the complimentary glass bottles of water provided. Buffet breakfast is included in the room rates but don’t expect anything extraordinary. The Italian restaurant in the resort does not seem to be ready for the tourist influx as food came out ever so slowly and we felt bad for the foreign tourists who don’t complain as much as the locals so we did get our food faster than they did. The resort is expanding so there is construction ongoing which is a positive sign of tourist revival in PP which I’m happy about for them but I wish they would also pay closer attention to the upkeep of the existing rooms.

PPengguna TetamuFirst of all, let me start by saying how much we LOVED our stay. The location is absolutely stunning, and we had an amazing stay. First and foremost, I want to thank to all the staffs esp to Aj ( who made our stay extra special. The food for me was exceptional, they had a wide variety of cuisines, and I was there for 2 nights and didn't have a bad meal while I was there. I felt the food price was very reasonable given the location, service and quality Astoria set the bar incredibly high and for someone who considers themselves to have a vacation I would highly recommend this place.

PPengguna TetamuRoom was spacious but poorly lit. The outlets were so loose that it was hard to charge my phone or keep anything plugged in. Breakfast included was not great. The wifi was so weak my poorly-connected American phone worked better most times without it. The gym they claim to have his one exercise bike and some weights so no they don’t have a gym. That’s a gross misrepresentation. I used the front desk to book a van to el Nido and was told it included drop off at my hotel in El Nido. It did not. Not only that but their van guy demanded payment for both taking me there and for the round trip back even though I wanted to pay once they fulfilled their obligation and actually picked me up and of course they did not and I had to get a different van service. Hard no on this hotel.

KKenDucsWe recently had the pleasure of staying here, and I must say it was one of the cleanest hotels I've experienced in Palawan. The location is incredibly convenient, making it easy to access local attractions. However, there was some noise from a nearby bar late at night. It wasn't too distracting for me, especially on the higher floors, so I recommend requesting one of those if you’re sensitive to sound.
The hotel itself is well-maintained, likely due to its recent renovations. The elevator, though small, was smooth and always clean, which added to the overall pleasant experience. The bathroom was a highlight—very clean and comfortable, although I did find the water heater a bit challenging to adjust.
Each room features a smart lock and a smart TV with Netflix and other apps, which is a nice touch. The Wi-Fi was reliable, even on the highest floor, allowing for seamless browsing.
One area for improvement would be the bedding. While the mattress and pillows were decent, a thicker comforter would enhance the sleeping experience, as the provided blanket was quite thin.
The staff were friendly and accommodating, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. While this may not be a luxury hotel, it offers excellent cleanliness and customer service, making it a great choice for travelers. I would certainly consider staying here again!

DDaniel DavidCitadel (the name of one of the owners) is probably the ”best for the money” mini-resort in Puerto Princesa! My room had a king bed, was comfortable and included satellite TV, a fridge and sink area. The grounds a pool are clean, neat and look great. The pool is amazing for a property size. Even though the Citadel is located 1.5km away from one of the main roads and the Robinson's Mall there are small food stores nearby for basic needs. It's easy to get a tricycle from the road near the property to just about anywhere in the Puerto area. Do ask one of the locals what the fare should be to the placey you want to go.
Francois and Citadel, the owners are very nice and helpful. You will enjoy your at the Citadel!
BONUS TIP: Just up the road (north) to the left is a food store and cafe on the right side of the road. Inside is a dental office run by Dr Joy Zapanta. She offers a full range of dental services. I got my teeth cleaned for about US$20. I could see dental tourism as a future business for Dr Joy. Enjoy your stay at the Citaldel and get all your dental work done!

PPengguna TetamuThis hotel is in a great location of Puerto Princesa. It's on a quiet street and within walking distance to everything you need. And if you need a trike to go somewhere further it will cost you no more than 50 pesos. The hotel can also arrange all trips for you. For a great price. Like El Nido or anywhere else on the island. I stayed here for quite sometime since I had no time limit to my time in Palawan. And everything was great. The cleaning lady Chona is really cool and has very good english skills. I've watched her clean and she doesn't cut corners. She gets in there and scrubs everytime. I will come back to Palawan and I will stay at this hotel again. You can go wrong with the location and amenities. WiFi worked great as well and that is a huge deal for most of us foreigners these days. Book your stay here, you won't regret it!

PPeter KunzlerBasic hotel at reasonable cost on Gabinete road. The Rovia hotel is quiet, has no restaurant, however, you will find plenty of local eateries in the Baran*** Bancao-bancao. About 600 metres from the fishing port. You can swim in the sea there.
Nobody told us:- Rovia hotel swimming facilities are best in the area, partially shaded by overhead screens. Adult pool great for practising technique and stamina. Kiddies pool bigger than most local hotel adult pools. Lots of local children pay to swim in the pools on weekends.
Air conditioning works fine, bathroom sink has no drain plug, shower is quite nice. Kettle in the hallway for coffee. Wi-Fi disappears during the night, though. No fridge in our room, but great balcony facing the morning sunrise. TV is average. Ideal for small families with many excursions. We booked a second stay of 11 days in February 2024.

Otherwise I was disappointed for the following reasons (some are illustrated by pictures) There was a fridge in the room which had rust that didn’t work, there was what looks like mould in the bathroom. There was a electrical plug socket hanging half of the wall ( do not think safe to use). There was an extra guest on the floor- not sure if it was there for decoration or if it was alive ( picture will show you what I mean).The accommodation is right at the back of the main road. Which means you have a long path to walk down to get to it. Not ideal at night to be honest Not an accommodation I would stay at again to be honest.

BBlade.around.the.worldUniversity /University dorm partially turned into a hotel with minimal investment. The result is mostly positive. The hotel is very photogenic so it's easy to get the impression that it's much more swanky than it actually is.. I enjoyed my stay, the staff is friendly, it's clean, surrounded by greenery and nice views. Don't let the name Hotel Palacio fool you, don't expect a palace, the hotel is modest but comfortable. Location wise, it's out of town which was no problem for me as I had prearranged a motorbike during my 7 days stay. For those pending on jeepney public transport or tricycle taxis, places like the baywalk are far away. The van I had organised to the airport early morning with the receptionist was punctually waiting for me. Everything was good. Expect a 3 star property and you won't be disappointed.
