This was my second visit to this property and first time for the rest of my family. It was a total of four of us.
Pro's:
-If you are looking for value on your $ this is a great option.
-Depending what side of the resort you are at you can be part of the party/activities or enjoy a more calm vibe
-Great theme parties (We attended the Jungle Pool party & the neon party)
-The staff at the bars and restaurants go above and beyond to ensure that you are having a great time and are very personable
-If you go to the Mangu restaurant for breakfast or dinner, ask for Ramon's section. You won't be disappointed. His energy and joy is contagious.
Con's-
-Disconnect between front desk and maintenance. Communication is not a strong suit, and they take their time to resolve the issues.
-Steakhouse-Skip it, go to the buffet. Service was slow and they forgot to bring our salad. When we advise the staff they advised they "ran out". Once we left the restaurant we realized the salad was just right outside the restaurant being prepped since they share the same area as one of the buffet.
-Italian Restaurant-DO NOT GO HERE. The stations are not kept up and they are extremely understaffed.
-Beach is far depending what side of the resort you are in
-No beach umbrellas
Overall you pay for what you get. If you are looking for value and a nice getaway. This is a resort that you can disconnect, recharge and create new memories. Great job Riu Republica with creating a safe, fun environment.

I did not enjoy my stay at the RIU. Let’s start with the food. The food was a poor quality and was not good at all. Moving onto my room. The majority of the electrical outlets as well as the charging outlets did not work. The hot water at the resort would not get hot. the water was; it was very uncomfortable to shower. There there was a broken metal chair in the room which cut my leg as I walked by. the heat did not work in our room so we were freezing cold the entire time. I did bring these issues to the staff. They attempted to change my room but the rooms that they showed me were far worse, one of the rooms had a king size bed, which would not have worked because it was two of us and we wanted two queens. The last they showed us was not clean properly. When I went into the bathroom, there was an open dirty razor with shaving cream left in the shower, which was a clear indication that the room was not clean properly so this forced us to stay in the room that we originally had. Moving onto the pool the main pool was not inviting because the water was very cloudy, which was an indication that it needed to be clean. To say the lease I did not enjoy my stay at the Riu

Outlets in rooms didn’t work. Otherwise, loved the multiple dining options and beautiful scenery! Lots of pool and beach options with lots of chairs

The key for the door wasn’t working multiple times.

Do not let the negative reviews stop you from booking this hotel . The hotel staff were great made it very memorable. The food was good . The Italian restaurant was ehhhh but everything else was good especially the steak house . However, for the steakhouse, I really wish that you would be able to book at the front desk instead of having to wait online to book the same day. But besides that the food was really good, the parties were amazing the fact that they’re all part of it and they pick you up and drop you off is amazing. I would definitely be coming back pretty soon.

Loud and drunken mess. Seemed very trashy. Food was ok and the staff really did try. The hotel would be fine if you just want to drink all day. The beach was horribly overcrowded:( will not return.

The people were either not friendly or they couldn’t communicate.
This was my third trip to a RIU and it totally makes me not want to try another one.

We had a great time! The food was delicious, the property was beautiful, room was clean. My only complaint is that it’s so big and I didn’t realize when I booked that my room was so far from the beach. That was my fault for not paying attention.

Good was bland. Advertised like it was easy to get into restaurants but many of the ala cart restaurants were buffet style some nights. Unable to get into steakhouse unless you arrive well before opening. Fun friend. Beautiful beaches.
