Hotel berhampiran Museo Civico L'Italia in Africa 1885-1960, Ragusa

Very impressive hotel with some very large rooms. Ours had a fantastic balcony looking over the street and featured some beautiful original architectural details. The choice of furniture felt a little 2000's and slightly out of place so that felt a little disappointing. The hotel features a spa with a mini pool which is very nice and can be booked privately with a bottle of wine, a nice extra. Breakfast was standard buffet style and very average given the upscale feel of the hotel. Location wise it is on a very quiet street but is in walking distance of most things, not that there is too much going on in Ragusa, it is very pretty though. Overall it was pretty expensive but worth it for the night.

The hotel is located in the center between the older part of the city (Ragusa Ibla) and the newer higher part of the city (Ragusa Superiore) not quite at the bottom of the steps… a perfect location. The hotel is small and very stylishly decorated. We loved it. The staff (Vincenzo) is super nice and very helpful and attentive. He prepared an excellent breakfast of local meats and cheeses and breads and spreads. Delicious. Our room had a wonderful view and a little terrace. The public spaces and terraces on top have amazing views as well. It’s a great place. We wanted to stay!

Sabbinirica earns high marks on the Cherry Wonderdog lodging scale. It’s an exceptionally pretty property on a steep hill in Ragusa Iba overlooking the town, with wonderful vistas and sounds of church bells in the distance yet total silence at night. We had an economy room, #2, a cave-like structure, fully renovated, modernized, and equipped for comfort. It was beautiful, and we slept well in the comfortable bed for two. The guest house manager, Marzia, was a superwoman. She took care of the property and its guests, including registration, check-outs, special requests, and everything in between. She gave us ideas about sights to see, where to eat, and places to visit. Every morning she arrived to prepare breakfast, which, with the exception of the wonderful cappuccinos she made for us without limitation, was served buffet style. Normally it started at 8:30, but on the last day, she accommodated our need to eat early and invited us down at 8. We had been in communication with Marzia prior to arrival, because she manages other projects and properties simultaneously, and she wanted to make sure she was around for us. Fortunately she was still in the guesthouse when we, like many other travelers, fell prey to Ragusa Iba’s challenging road system. GPS certainly met its match when it recorded Sabbinirica! To our delight, Marzia ran down from the guest house and greeted us in the parking lot, then she accompanied us back (while carrying half the luggage) up the multiple flights of stairs to the property. Did I mention she was physically fit? As amazing as Marzia was, sometimes the work seemed too much for one person. At our previous B&B in Ortigia, there was an entire family and assistants catering to the needs of guests all day long. It felt odd that Sabbinirica relied on only Marzia. It would have been nice for to have an extra hand at breakfast and front desk coverage more than a few hours per day. Other suggestions include shifting the breakfast offerings to less sugary items, opening the breakfast area gate after hours for communal gathering, adding a Wi-Fi amplifier to boost the signal upstairs, and increasing the water temperature by several degrees. There was a towel warmer in the bathroom, but it wasn’t functional. Lastly, for safety, there could be more light on the second level beyond those projecting from floor to ceiling into people’s eyes. As a final note, we were fortunate to meet the owner Marco, a warm gentleman who cares earnestly about his guests and keeping Sabbinirica in good standing. His restaurant, Osteria Imperfetta, is worth visiting for fine dining in Ragusa Iba. In sum, we enjoyed our stay like so many others and wish Sabbinirica and future guests all the best.

Anche se a distanza di tempo da quando recensisco, per una sosta lavorativa nella zona di Ragusa ho soggiornato in questo hotel nella periferia di Ragusa. Camere pulite e dotate di ogni comfort. Ottima colazione a buffet servita in sala comune con caffetteria.

Used this place as a base for touring the hill towns of South East Sicily. We found it well located to get to Scicli, Modica and of course Ragusa. All within 20 minutes drive. We arrived late on a Sunday and helpful lady on reception gave us great recommendation. Lovely big room, spacious parking area and big plot to roam. Inviting swimming pool with lots of loungers - bit too cold to use in May though. Poppies and wildflowers abound the grounds. Environmentally conscious theme. Local products well in evidence at breakfast. Good choice of food and great fresh blood orange juice! Overall incredible value. Would come back!

What can I say about Modica Boutique Hotel? I LOVED IT! LOCATION: GREAT! Easy to find, surrounded by many shops and restaurants. PARKING: Free Parking in a lock-up garage; private and very safe, with lift connected straight to Hotel. ROOM (Superior): Spacious, Modern, Very clean, Very comfy bed, Cozy linen, State of the art Shower, Relaxation at it's best! BREAKFAST: Spoiled for choice, everything fresh and delicious. Buffet Breakfast 'a la grande'! WATER MACHINE ON EACH FLOOR: Empty bottles provided for free cold or room temperature Natural and Sparkling Water HOTEL RESTAURANT: We had one dinner. Limited choice, however the food was cooked to perfect, presented well and we loved it. Very reasonably priced. STAFF: Polite, courteous, professional, and always with a smile. I highly recommend Modica Boutique Hotel, especially for those travelling with their car by ferry to Pozzallo, as it is only 20min drive. You will not regret it. We first visited Modica Palace Hotel last summer and loved it so much we decided to return. We soon found that things had dramatically changed. We were old the hotel had changed hands. Skeleton staff, dinner that used to be amazing but now on a set menu that never changes so for us with the half board would have meant eating the same things for a week. The staff tried to help but we were not enjoying our meals at all. There were only 4 people dining in the restaurant each night whereas last year it was always full and despite this we had to wait for hours to be served. On more than one occasion our food did not arrive as ordered and we sent it back. On our last night I ordered a steak well done and I received it rare at which point we just got up and left. It is obvious that there are issues at management level, cost cuts is the one standing out but what was unacceptable was the Manager's behaviour. When we asked for a refund on our meal he got angry and his behaviour was quite aggressive, he told us there were no problems with the hotel and the reviews were good. He was not interested in listening to our feedback and he just left while we were talking and slammed the door on us. If I was the owner of this business I would be worried. A good manager always tries to accommodate customers and listen to their issues even act out on them so that customers do actually go back. I have recommended this hotel to so many people but will no longer do that and definitely will not return. It's such a shame.

To visit the valley di Noto cities this is an interesting place to stay if you don’t want to be in a busy city center. Modica is just 10 min away. Reception is very helpful and the rooms are ok, just make sure you can cope with a totally white room. It was a bit warm and for the evening we wanted to use the airconditioner but it was not yet working. The breakfast was pleasant if you like lots of cake . My big disappointment was that this is sold as room with noise cancellation. However you could follow the next door conversation ( potentially through the ventilation system?) and other things couples do. And they were not yelling at all.

La struttura si trova in aperta campagna fuori dai centri abitati. Accoglienza e servizio di buon livello. Gentili e premurosi per tutte le richieste. La nostra camera era una Junior suite. Onestamente mi aspettavo di meglio. Soggiorno e bagno al piano terreno e camera da letto sopra. Di notte è un problema andare in bagno o prendere qualcosa dal frigo perchè bisogna scendere le scale. Arredamento in arte povera, anche lì mi aspettavo di meglio. Per il resto tutto molto bene, piscina, bar, servizio e atmosfera. Sicuramente ritorneremo ma chiederemo una camera in un unico piano con tutti i servizi vicini.
