Hotel berhampiran Museum Rambolitrain, Rambouillet

Un hôtel très bien placé et joliment décoré. Équipe aimable et serviable. La chambre « vu château » du deuxième n’a pas vraiment de visibilité sur le château, du fait des arbres du parc (cf photo).

We stayed only one night here to visit the Palace de Versailles. This hotel was no shortcoming for us in terms of location, service, facilities, amenities, etc. If I have to say one thing then the over-night parking fee was a bit expensive. There’s no doubt that this hotel would be the best choice in the area and of course I’d like to stay here when we visit Versailles again.

We, 2 adults, 2 kids, booked one night just for an overnight stay on our way back. The location is conveniently located off the highways (appr 15 min) in a green lush area of the university of Saclay. Check in was quick and the receptionist very welcoming in French or English. Our appt room had a separate living room with a double bed and in the living/kitchen room another large couch/double/bed. The appt was clean and pretty spacious. The surroundings are nice, clean and safe like in the country side but very close to Paris (45 min by RER). Places for dinner are in close proximity albeit you would need a car.

We visited just for the weekend and what an amazing time it was. The staff on reception were professional and welcoming, speaking a number of different languages, including English, as did all the staff we encountered during our stay. I was so thankful for this as I saw one of the reviews which stated an expectation to speak French, this was simply not the case for us. We had a fabulous spacious 4th floor room on the park side with a small balcony. The bed was by far the most comfortable hotel bed I have slept in so far and the slippers provided, a much better quality that those in other hotels and we have been to a fair few. The bathroom was great, but just a word of caution if having a soak in the tub as it’s very prone to slipping due to the shape. A rubber mat for inside the bath is provided for you to use. Breakfast was a buffet only (no menu) and was very limited, although you can order a number of different egg dishes. There was just one chef and a bit of a queue. I don’t think this was unusual as there was a polite notice asking guests to come back once they have placed their order, which I did and maybe I shouldn’t have as it seemed that my order was then put on the back burner. I know this as I saw countless others guest getting their orders in and receiving their dishes before me. It’s only when I approached the station that the chef then went to get my order. The eggs Benedict received was ok but very close to being hard boiled and I prefer a runny yolk. The breakfast experience overall was ok, with staff being very polite when you asked them something, but this could have been better by them checking in to see if we had everything we needed, e.g. more coffee. I always think when it comes to hotels and indeed in life that ‘you don’t know what you don’t know’ and so far this year we’ve had exceptional service at breakfast from the Westin Palace Madrid and a truly amazing buffet with options to order extra dishes at the Ritz Carlton in Vienna, both of which renewed my faith in the hotel breakfast experience, so I know more can be done here at this hotel. We didn’t swim in the pool but it was a good size. The gym was amazing if you like like to keep your exercise up whilst away and the staff were very friendly. A tip for guests wanting to visit Versailles Palace & gardens, get you tickets from the concierge if you haven’t booked in advance. Indeed we hadn’t booked in advance and there were no tickets on the website when looked, so we were so relieved when we asked the concierge about this. One of the highlights of our stay has to be the view from our balcony at night of the Bastille fireworks, this was simply outstanding and totally unexpected, an experience which we aim to replicate next year and will return. We are delighted to soon be staying at the Abbaye in early December to celebrate an anniversary! In fact, we made the decision to sacrifice a few days of our short Paris visit to make the most of this beautiful property. We had a few outstanding questions regarding logistics and in calling the hotel, I was provided with immediate answers, helpful insight, and absolutely superb customer service from the front desk and the reservation team. If this is any indication of what’s in store, I am thrilled! I’d like to especially acknowledge Rafael and Adele for their kindness, professionalism, and patience. We are truly looking forward to enjoying all the offerings of the Abbaye, especially exploring the grounds by foot and boat, wellness services, petting some farm animals, as well as indulging in the on-site activities and restaurants. This will be my partner’s first time to France and I know he is in for a memorable experience! I will happily update this review upon completion of our stay.

Accueil remarquable. On est à l’hôtel mais on se sent chez soi. Mention particulière pour le personnel, gentil et efficace-j'y étais avec mes deux chiens quand même. Ils ont toujours eu une gamelle d'eau sans que je le demande. Très bonne literie, service de restauration excellent mais un peu cher, piscine chauffée vraiment agréable. Les chambres sont très confortables mais un peu petites. J'y ai séjourné à trois reprises, J'y retournerai volontiers. Situation géographique vraiment pratique: c'est près de tout en voiture mais suffisamment au calme: piscine sans vis à vie, possibilité de déjeuner ou dîner à l'extérieur de sa chambre- soit côté jardin soit côté piscine en fonction de l'emplacement de votre chambre. Il y a aussi que salle de sport que je n'ai pas testée.
