Hotel berhampiran Burgkirche Raron, Raron

An excellent hotel for a budget price well located in Brig. Excellent staff. Close to restaurants, attractions and transport. The included breakfast was awesome and the staff were very helpful. There are supermarkets very close as well that offer meals and microwave services as well as wine and beer. For those that don't speak French or German, there are several BBC channels. An easy walk to the station. We loved visiting here.

Erst kürzlich renoviertes Hotel. Eingangsbereich sehr schön gestaltet. Zimmer klein, alles nötige vorhanden und sauber. Badezimmer nur mit einer Schiebetür abgetrennt, Dusche mit Milchglas offen Richtung Zimmer, leider suboptimal. Dusche sauber, Tür sehr schmal. Zimmer war extrem warm (gute 27 Grad), auf Nachfragen wurde uns erklärt, dass die Heizung ebenfalls neu sei und schwierig einzustellen sei (Zimmer nebeneinander, gleiches Heizungssytem entweder sehr warm oder sehr kalt). Fenster konnte zum Lüften leider nicht ganz geöffnet werden. Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Frühstück mit begrenzter Auswahl, aber gutes Essen. Butterautomat top.

When I checked in at 7 pm, I face the self-check in machine. They were asking for a confirmation number. I happily entered my ******* confirmation number because I thought it would suffice. Turns out it didn't. I got stuck outside, and since I was running on data-only e-sim, I couldn't call the number. Thankfully, there was a couple of guys hanging out and one of them gladly lent his phone to me and I was able to call the desk. Turns out they would send a separate email with the booking reference number, but they did not email me that one. I thought that booking via a third party would cause that, but the guy who lent my phone said that they would send a separate email even if booked by a third party provider. But once I got my number, everything else went like a breeze. For my room, I got a solo room and so everything was in that room, including the shower. That was interesting. When I had my showers, the water leaked throughout the room! I did not do anything wrong! The water just sipped through the corners! Thankfully, only one towel was able to absorb the spill from the shower. When I first entered my solo room, I was shocked that I had no toilet! I was desperate to pee back then and I thought my toilet would be a communal one. So i went downstairs and used the restroom by the front desk. Coming back, I was about to put my valuables on the table, and I saw this interesting object with an old-fashioned key with a heavy paperweight on it serving as its keychain. Below that is a laminated paper that says that that key was the key to my toilet. Turns out, the door to the toilet that I thought was communal that I was desperately trying to open turned out to be the private toilet for my room. So that was interesting! What a sigh of relief. But yeah, that part was interesting. But, bonus points for the scenic location in front of the Brig Castle!

Sad to share that what used to be a proud, classic 5-star Swiss hotel experience now is reduced to an overpriced mediocre experience, at best. Through my stays during the past 15 years, I have witnessed a hotel fading to become a worn-down average 3-star hotel without proper staffing or attentive service, but fighting to stay in the five star range – at least when it comes to pricing. How about a 40$ simple gin & tonic in the bar? After you had to walk over to the front desk so they could try to locate a grumpy bartender. Twice! Breakfast was slow, even we were the two only guests. Ordered fried eggs and it took at least 15 mins for them to produce it. Coffee was semi-cold all three mornings. In general, the staff has severe problems communicating in English, so expect confusion and misunderstandings. If you are sensitive to mold, well, you should definitely choose another hotel. The pictures speaks for itself, this is next to the bed. In general, the lack of maintenance of the hotel is very visible. If you try the outdoor pool, look out for screws in the deck which have popped out everywhere. The so-called Turkish sauna barely broke out a sweat, and the ceiling was black of mold. Leukerbad is quite hilly, so dragging your luggage around is not ideal. We therefore ordered transport by the hotel minivan at 8:30 to the bus station the day before departure, to make our connection for journey back home. The transport was confirmed twice by the front desk. Checked out at 8:15 and sat down waiting for the transport, nobody came at agreed time (come on, this is Switzerland, right?), minutes went by, our bus was departing soon, went to ask the front desk, she was sorry, but the portier had took off with the van filled with luggage for a group that was departing later. No one could not drive us. She had no other suggestion, so instead of calling a taxi or try to help us in another way, she just continued doing nothing and yelled it was not her fault. We ended up running through the town with our bags and made our connection in less than a minute. A good advice; pick another hotel in otherwise amazing Leukerbad. Les Sources Des Alpes can no longer defend their stars – neither price. A 3-star at best.

Wir waren für 3 Nächte im Hotel. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, speziell der Kellner und die Rezeptionistin, ihnen beiden gilt ein grosser Dank. Uns kam es vor wie das Personal 14h arbeiten würde, da wir immer die gleichen Gesichter sahen. Das Restaurant können wir sehr empfehlen, die Preis/ Leistung hat sehr gepasst. Die Zimmer sahen nicht so aus wie auf den Bildern. Einiges hat nicht funktioniert, wie Bsp. der Toilettenlüfter oder die fehlende Lampe. Der Wellnessbereich hat eine kleine Sauna, das Römische Bad sah aus wie eine Baustelle und das Solebad war für mich zwenig beheizt. Zudem stand im Ruheraum nur eine Massageliege, was mit einem Roboter/ KI gesteuert wurde. Wenn man die Maschine mehr mag wie den Menschen.... Das Frühstück war etwas enttäuschend, die Früchte wurde nicht geschnitten, es gab kein Gemüse, die Pfandkuchen wurden einfach hingestellt, bis sie kalt waren. Wer auf ein goldiges Frühstück WERT legt, wird dort nicht glücklich.
