This was our first holiday with our 4 year old son. We looked at the reviews and noticed a few people mentioning that it was mostly Spanish holiday makers, that the staff seemed to focus on them and the English were left out. Well yes that statement is true it is, but it’s Spain what do you expect, we actually found the staff very friendly and spoke very good English, they included our son in most things, and where it was an activity that was complicated it didn’t seem to bother him that he couldn’t understand a word they said, as a matter of fact it was quite amusing watching three children of different nationality playing and talking to each other even though they didn’t have a scooby what the other was saying. The hotel itself was smart, and very clean, all staff went the extra mile to help. The food was delicious with a great variety for all tastes, even our son on his beige diet ate quite well. There were meat and fish options along with veg and salad, rice and pasta, and a selection of desserts including little tubs of ice cream. The pool area was really good and perfect for what we wanted, with different areas for different age groups, and conveniently if you have mixed ages it’s easy to position yourself to see both. The beach is nice but the water gets very deep very quickly, but little ones can still enjoy the water without getting out of their depth. It’s not really sand it’s more very tiny gravel, so depending on how you cope in bare feet, take something with you. Finally to the hotel manager, thank you for making our holiday such a special occasion, and thanks to the bar staff for putting up with my attempt at Spanish, they were very nice and friendly. Well deserved 5stars

Il n'y a que des éloges à dire comme avis sur cet hôtel qui est situé en bord de l'autovia.Les chambres sont neuves,le lit est immense aussi bon qu'à la maison,certe la décoration est innexistante,le personel est souriant,le petit déjeuner est dans la moyenne pour la catégorie d'hôtel.Notre GPS ,WAZE,GOOGLE ITINERAIRE ne nous ont pas indiqués le chemin à suivre alors pour les futurs clients l'hôtel se trouve à la sortie 800 de l'autovia dans un sens ou dans l'autre.C'est un bon hôtel pour séjourner deux ou trois nuits. Merci de m'avoir lu.

We have stayed here before - not by choice - family booked around 15 years ago to visit some cousins who lived nearby and wow, it was even worse the second time around. Not a lick of paint or upgrade to any furniture or amenities in the 15 years since we first encountered this dated, tired hotel. Extremely tired and dated. In need of some new furniture, beds made my body numb, extremely small room for a family of 4 (we had to climb over the beds to get to the bathroom), linen was itchy, aircon not controllable - we were all so cold we couldn't even sleep. Food and restaurant - the worst part of the hotel- In the basement with no natural light or air. We actually left a day early and lost our money as couldn't handle another night . Such a lovely location - with a little investment this hotel could be at least average, but I am afraid to say it is really poor.

Beautiful hotel located right in the port with an abundance of delightful restaurants and bars. We booked the junior suite with jacuzzi, rather disappointed as no sun loungers on our private terrace despite plenty of room to accommodate them. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated, check in staff were wonderful however I strongly disagree with a €15 room service charge, even if you only want a glass of wine bringing to you. When you pay €250 a night I expect as a minimum to be able to order a drink to my room. We ended up walking to the bar next door, a 2 minute walk and spent €118 for a delicious lunch and drinks do the hotel is missing out on extra revenue because of this ‘ service ‘ charge policy. Surely in todays day and age you should be able to order extras without incurring a charge for a standard hotel service

really lovely hotel, walking distance to everything in the historical part of Almeria. We had the family suite which was great for the 4 of us with lots of space and privacy. Helpful and friendly staff, can't fault any part of it. Would definitely recommend using the hotel parking. Will definitely do our best to return!

Stayed here for 4 nights while having meetings in one of their conference rooms. Staff is friendly, the rooms are not overly big but have all the bells and whistles, breakfast was ok, not the best I ever had but certainly not the worst either and valet parking very convenient . The best part of this hotel is the location. Most everything is close by including some great restaurants that are within walking distance.

I’ve stayed here for about a week on a business trip in Spain. The hotel is on Mediterranean avenue and close proximity to Mediterranean Commercial centre Mall. The Hotel staff is Very friendly Ms Patricia & Ms Loraine is very helpful for your questions and guidance about local visits. Breakfast provided by ah! was just wonderful and healthy. I didn’t feel at different continent during my visit. Didn’t had any challenges with food, local exploration. In terms of accessibility, You have bus stops at walkable distance and easily accessible to prime locations in Almeria. In total, I loved my time being at Almeria and Avenida hotel is just another reason behind it. Strongly recommended for Business visits and a very simple yet right choice if you’re planning along with family. Thanks to Hotel Avenida for a wonderful experience :) Hope to make a come back again 😎

After spending 3 days in the local Government hospital my wife & I stayed here for 2 weeks before we were repatriated back to the UK. Excellent hotel in a lovely area with amazing staff who were very attentive professional & extremely helpful - the manager was very supportive. The hotel is situated just outside the city centre but only a short walk away. Very near the hospital & a large shopping mall. The food was very good especially the breakfasts with a variety of choices on offer. Very near to a host of good restaurants/tapas bars which serve excellent & great value for money food. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a city break at a most reasonable price.

Wondeful stay. Hotel in the ”old” style (built 1988) but lovely ceramics, tiling and marble with a magnificent atrium/ reception area, hanging with vines plus fig trees. Not ”dated” and ”tired” as stated in other reviews. Mainly Spanish guests and staff but all very tolerant of our lack of Spanish. Why is it that the Brits expect Spanish to speak English but we are the visitors and don't bother to learn Spanish? Food was not really to our taste but plenty of it with (bit tepid sometimes). Breakfast excellent but lunch/ dinner very samey. Pool area huge and freeform with good area for children and lots of sunbeds/parasols, some needing a bit of TLC. All in all, a great stay.

POSITIVES The reception staff were friendly and welcoming and as we arrived a little early they directed us to the poolside bar to wait whilst the room was prepared. Once ready, we discovered that the room was clean and well-maintained with powerful aircon and comfy beds. The bathroom contained lots of towels and a range of free toiletries. The kitchen had a working fridge and microwave and the balcony had a terrific view of the pool and beach. The poolside bar serves a small portion of free tapas when you order a round of drinks. The price of 1 large beer or a tinto de verano with 3 soft drinks was less than £8 which is incredible. The tapas was tasty as well. There are a range of shops, cafes and bars around the hotel and beach access is literally across the path at the rear of the hotel. The pool area was clean and well-maintained and the water slide was good fun for the children. You never had to fight to get sun loungers as there was plenty of space. The restaurant (we had breakfast and evening meal included) served a wide range of foods, and the breakfast includes pancakes, cereals, continental style and pastries along with unlimited hot drinks. It was clean and the service was friendly and prompt. LESS POSITIVE This hotel is a destination for Spanish people to go on holiday, so most of what is in place does not cater to those looking for a Spanish holiday ‘for Brits’. This isn’t as much a problem for me as I love Spanish culture, but many of the staff did not speak English and the Animacion team provided all their entertainment in Spanish which might leave British children a little left out, although ours were able to join in with party dances and the late night pool party. The evening meals in the restaurant were predominantly local dishes geared heavily to seafood and the like. I’ll eat anything but my wife is a fussy eater and if you or your family like to eat nuggets and roast dinners you will not find that available here. My children found there was always one thing they would eat but weren’t spoilt for choice. The room decor is a little dated but who really cares when it’s just a base and you should be out at the beach or by the pool anyway! NEGATIVE The poolside bar does not provide any kind of snack provision such as chips and sandwiches as the tapas and drinks are served from a high end restaurant. This was disappointing as we like to enjoy a beer and some chips by the pool for our lunch. The language barrier with our waitress meant we’d asked for a menu which there was no point receiving as we couldn’t order food to be delivered poolside anyway, but she wasn’t really able to communicate this with us and we sat their waiting for an order we never could have had. But again, we should be learning to speak Spanish better! I’m not entirely sure LoveHolidays researched whether this hotel is suitable for Brits wanting the ‘Brits abroad’ experience so if you want that you’re best sticking to Salou or Benidorm. PPengguna TetamuBajo nuestra experiencia, que a sido en temporada baja, a sido excelente, nos a gustado pasar por allí, la zona esta súper bien, y parece ser que es una familia que lleva el negocio, y son muy agradables y parecen ser muy humildes. Pasamos tres noches con nuestra mascota, nos dieron el ático, y estuvimos súper a gusto, la única pega que pondríamos que las almohadas no son muy cómodas, pero para tres noches que hicimos, son muy atentos y curiosos te dejan una bolsita con un estropajo, bayeta jabón y 2 bolsas de basura. La verdad que nos vamos con muy buen sabor de boca, gracias.

Our overall experience at this hotel is good. As others have suggested, its mostly Spanish guests, which is to be expected as the resort is in Spain, for me this isn't a problem however the entertainment is heavily geared towards the Spanish guests, even the kids club isn't very welcoming to English children as all the dialogue is in Spanish. The food at this hotel is fine, there is a good selection of meat and fish at lunch and evening meal and there's always a great salad bar, pasta, selection of potatoes and vegetables. It may not be piping hot all the time but it's generally well cooked and tasty. At breakfast there is a good hot choice including bacon, sausage, various eggs, beans etc as well as croissant, cold meats, cheese, bread, fruit etc. The breakfast cereals are quite poor. Only a few days there are cornflakes on offer, they are not the best quality but ok. The other cereals were not good, the rice crispies were like rock hard pebbles, the cereals need to be improved, quite a basic thing that was poor. The evening meal doesn't start until around 8pm which is quite late for guests with young children. However at this time there are plenty of tables but if you leave it until later you can be faced with a long queue to get a table. This wasn't much of an issue for us as we ate early but the restaurant gets extremely busy and overcrowded so later on its not a great atmosphere. There is a strange token system for drinks during the day, you are given tokens at check in to exchange for plastic glasses, each time you want a drink you have to go to the bar with your tokens or return your glasses for a drink. It seems that this is to cut down on waste or maybe staff as there is no need for staff to collect glasses. The only problem is that at times the queue to get drinks is long. You can also get basic snacks at the main pool bar such as crisps, popcorn and sweets. The snack meals are at the other pool area where there are burgers, chips, hot dogs, cold meat and cheese and some fruit. The pool areas are great for all ages, the kids pool with slides is good for the little ones and both of the big pools are nice. In August the pools were lovely and warm, all good here. I can't say anything about the standard rooms as we had a junior suite which was an excellent size. The main bedroom had two single beds together that created a huge bed, there's is a TV in the main bedroom and small wardrobe, but not many coat hangers. There is a second bedroom in a the junior suite with a double bed and small wardrobe but no TV, we also had a cot in there and it was still spacious. There is more wardrobe space near the entrance to the room with a safe, the safe costs €4 per day which I think is a bit excessise in terms of cost, other 4 star hotels provide this free of charge. Hotel definitely not a 4 star ! Who grades these hotels. !! Amenities basic - outside pool area nice and quiet and clean. No tea and coffee making facilities in room - very disappointing. Our stay did not include food although you could pay as you go. 12 euros each for buffet breakfast - quite expensive. We found a traditional cafe a few minutes walk away which we would walk to every morning for our coffee and tostadas “Cafetería Luna” . Definitely worth a visit. Lovely family run cafe. Strange decor in hotel - very tired looking and requires refurbishment. The staff friendly. Lack of atmosphere. We stayed on the third floor overlooking the beautiful villas and we could see the sea in the distance. Definitely opt for a room with the villa / sea in the distance view as there are building works the other side (building apartments). It was not noisy though. 10/15 minute walk to the beach and restaurants. We did enjoy our holiday and the hotel was rather quaint but we did enjoy our stay overall. If you want quiet and one small pool and a bar that opens at 11.00 am until 11.00 pm and no tea and coffee facilities in your room then this is the hotel for youx. Roquetas de Mar is not too touristy and we definitely would return to the area but stay in a different hotel.
