Hotel berhampiran La Maison des Johnnies et de l'Oignon de Roscoff, Roscoff

Il peggior trattamento ricevuto in 15 anni di vacanze in Francia. Per un errore (non dell’hotel, questo va detto chiaramente) ci siamo presentati come da prenotazione tramite trip.con ma in realtà non c’era disponibilità. L’addetta alla reception rideva al telefono con il collega (direttore o altri, non posso saperlo) perché avrebbe dovuto spiegarcelo presupponendo che io non parlassi il francese discretamente ma non è così, purtroppo per lei . Ci ha indicato un altro hotel che non aveva disponibilità facendoci fare (alle 20) altri km, non si è interessata in alcun modo alla nostra situazione e alla fine abbiamo dormito in auto. Non era colpa sua ma è stata inqualificabile, senza gentilezza, professionalità o semplicemente umana empatia. Non è il suo mestiere e mi auguro non le capiti mai in un paese (per lei) straniero di dover chiamare altri hotel avendone già pagato uno , sentirsi dire “no” e cercare una soluzione per passare la notte mentre il suo compagno/a è comprensibilmente preoccupata . Lei, a differenza mia, conosce solo il francese e 3 , forse 4 parole di inglese suppongo e credo potrebbe essere davvero in difficoltà. È stato spiacevole , un momento di stress notevole dopo 400 km di viaggio. Dell’albergo non posso dire nulla, di chi hanno deciso di impiegare alla reception posso solo dire, con la calma che non so neanche io dove stia trovando (la stessa calma che mi ha consentito di rimanere cordiale mentre evidentemente mi stava mancando di rispetto), dire tutto il male possibile. Un bruttissimo episodio che lascia l’amaro in bocca, più delle ore passate con la mia compagna in auto in un’area di sosta. La madre degli imbecilli è spesso incinta, anche quella dei maleducati incompetenti sembra non soffrire di infertilità. I miei sinceri complimenti e un plauso a tutti gli operatori del settore che non hanno nulla da spartire con la signora/signorina alla reception dell’hotel Baie de Morlaix.

Hôtel bien situé, tout à côté du centre historique et en bordure du port. Il n’a pas d’ascenseur (ce qu’il mentionne à profusion) mais l’escalier n’est pas trop raide. Ma chambre était assez vaste avec vue sur le port. Elle comprenait un lit, une petite table basse, une table étroite permettant néanmoins de travailler avec un ordinateur, un support pour la valise, une chaise, une petite armoire penderie et une bouilloire avec le nécessaire pour un café ou un thé. Eclairage parfait. Volets intérieurs pour la nuit laissant néanmoins passer la lumière du jour. Petit bémol, Wifi très faible ne permettant pas de me connecter à mes caméras de surveillance. Salle de bains avec cabine de douche, WC, tabouret et sèche-cheveux. Personnel accueillant et prix très raisonnable (77 euros avec le petit déjeuner pour une personne fin mai 2024). Je recommande vivement pour un court séjour dans cette très belle région.

We last stayed here some 10 years ago in a third floor room at the back. It was cramped (the bathroom even more so) and despite the hotel's boast that it overlooked the church it really overlooked the hotel's industrial industrial infrastructure. It was, frankly, a bit grim. This time we went for a second floor room, at the front, with a balcony. It was an improvement but the room itself was still relatively small, but the bathroom was better. The room (good views over the bay and the hotel's grounds) had a nice comfy bed with nice comfy pillows, a small table and chair, flat-screen TV and a wardrobe with drawer space. The balcony had a very small table and two chairs and was just big enough to sit on and read (but perhaps not for long). The bathroom was fine with lovely towels and the usual facilities (and a shower over the bath). Plenty of hot water. Housekeeping is fine. The hotel is stylish and comfortable with a nice lounge/bar and plenty of soft sofas. The grounds are extensive and extend to the sea and there are loungers and chairs and tables to use when the weather permits. There's also a (very) small private beach. The restaurant (where you take breakfast) is spacious, airy and has good views over the sea. Breakfast is plentiful and varied and will accommodate most if not all tastes. Eggs (scrambled, fried and poached) are cooked to order. The restaurant is good and not overly pricey given the hotel's image. There are two EV charging points which are (gasp!) not charged for. But you need to bring your car's charging cable. The swimming pool is large with comfortable surrounds. A hamman and sauna are there to use with the usual array of beauty treatments. So far then so good. Any negatives? Well although the hamman can seat six you have to be fairly friendly with folk if you do. Five is a better fit. The sauna seats only two. The grounds could do with a bit more maintenance. Although there is ample storage space in the bedroom for a week's stay if you put your suitcase in the wardrobe (there's no other place for it) the available space is reduced. The staff are welcoming and friendly (as you'd expect) but service at meal-times can be a little disorganised. We found one male member of staff rude, ignorant and arrogant but he was an exception. The main problem was that the staff (with the odd exception) were distant and you (us) were treated as a commodity rather than a welcome and wanted visitor. (Our yardstick is the staff at the Hotel Brittany in Roscoff who are exceptionally good.) Overall then it's not a bad hotel: stylish, comfortable with a high standard of cuisine. But it suffers from being a Belle Epoch building converted to meet the demands of the 21st century (the head of our bath was in an alcove due to design constraints). The staff were fine but could be better. Would we return? Yes. But we might try a first floor front room next.

This was the first hotel location for our trip to Bretagne (Aug-2022, Plouider & Carnac). Even though we 'only' had a standard room, it had everything we expected. We liked the cleanliness of the hotel, the very friendly staff, the Wifi, the view on the bay area (from room & breakfast area). The breakfast was according expectation for a four star hotel. Checking in and out went smoothly. We happily used the compact swimming pool and the superb lounge chairs in the spa area. The hotel offers a bistro (in the breakfast area) and a gastronomic restaurant (separate review on this). Both restaurants are used by visitors outside the hotel too, so be sure to reserve timely. Otherwise you have to find something else in an area that doesn't offer a lot of restaurants (here: middle of nowhere in the title). The bistro offers meals at reasonable prices and the quality is OK. The hotel also offers car charging facilities (2 ports) , which is not mentioned on the website. Unfortunately my charging token was not accepted.
