The best I can say about Stevenson’s at Manase is its location and its accommodation. Our party stayed in 2 adjacent Euro Fales which looked out over beautiful ocean and sunset views. The beds were comfortable and the shower worked beautifully. There was enough room to not feel cramped. Breakfast each morning was plentiful with a selection of choices, fresh pots of coffee or tea and a daily special of either scrambled eggs or fried eggs. On the negative side my biggest issue was with their method of billing for drinks and food. Although we asked at each order for our bills to be separated for each fale, there was no request to sign each bill so as to establish its authenticity. This meant that when we all checked out we received a ‘lump sum’ bill, with no itemised accounting. We found later, by comparing our respective bills that we had paid for items from our friends’ bill and vice versa. There was no way of challenging their accounting system, so we paid and tried to sort it out between ourselves. The lunch and dinner menus varied very little and had very limited choices, on top of this the meals were quite expensive. Most food is deep fried. The resort is certainly tired-looking and rundown but the pool was clean. Our friends’ fale next door had the power go out every day in the afternoon. We all got to know the resort electrician quite well! Daily cleaning was non-existent unless you asked at reception – we stayed 6 days.
