Great hotel. Good location for where we wanted to visit. Left my watch in the room and was able to retrieve it from the cleaning staff a couple of days later. Would recommend to all

Hotel is tired in places and need of some renovation. Room was clean but quite a trek from reception and the felt old mattress wasn't comfortable.
Breakfast was disappointing as some of the cooked items had run out and those left were cold, I guess it was just bad timing.
Staff were friendly and welcoming and overall our stay was ok for one night, but would agree with some of the other comments that this doesn't feel like a 4star hotel.

Room was dire - walls were dirty with paint missing and shower had hair from previous guest in the shower.
No maintenace has taken place at this hotel for many years and to charge £116 for the night is just crazy talk
The hotel states its 4 star, perhaps it started out as a 4 star hotel but it isnt any longer
The breakfast was luke warm at best
Definately wont be back

The classic rooms are pretty basic and a little tired.
The breakfast was the worst part.
One member of staff working so hard but wasn’t able to replenish food in time. Coffee terrible, no eggs or scrambled available.
Just limited.
We used to go to this hotel for the breakfast in the past. So not sure what happened now?
Friendly staff tho.

General upkeep and condition of this hotel is not good and certainly not reflective of a 4 star rating - the rooms in particular have multiple patches of peeling paint, cracked or missing grouting in the bathroom and around the window etc. The appearance of the outside of the buildings, as can be seen from the windows on the very long warren-like walk to get to most of the rooms, is honestly shocking!
The first (ground floor) room I was allocated - which I then had to move from due to a missing window key meaning the window was freely openable from the outside - clearly had broken heating as a freestanding heater was placed in front of the radiator.
The cleanliness of the second room I moved to was adequate, albeit with a few hairs spotted here and there, but the bed was comfortable and the room had good provisions like tea and coffee, toiletries, ironing board and hairdryer.
Unfortunately due to the overall experience and upkeep standard I would not stay here again.

Was once my hotel of choice. However under new management the place is dirty carpets are stained and smelling. The promptly is in a poor state of repair. The staff remain cheerful but i wont stay here again and spending £700 for my 4 nights I could have done much better at Shendish Manor for the same money

Not sure this place is worthy of 4 star. I’m no expert but I’d expect better for a 4 star hotel.
Feels like the hotel needs a make over, cleaning could improve and the breakfast service was poor with limited items available
