NEVER EVER stay at Skybeach Hotel & Marina located at 6800 Sunshine Skyway Ln St. Petersburg, FL 33711. You will regret it! We booked a one night stay last Friday and totally regretted doing so. The customer service led by their manager/supervisor is very misleading and she lies through her teeth in spite of evidence contradicting what she is saying. After we checked in, we took a stroll around the beachfront property. In spite of paying a resort fee, we couldn’t swim because the water looked like a swamp with an unpleasant smell (see picture). We pointed out our disappointment to the manager/supervisor by showing her the horrible state of the water. She told us that it will be great and beautiful in the morning but the accompanying picture show otherwise. Around 11:00 pm, the A/C in our room stopped working and although we changed room, she never considered our inconvenience. At around 1:40 am, the fire alarm came on and woke us up. There was also no electricity in any of the rooms. Thinking it may have been a fire, we rushed outside with some valuables and saw other guests standing around. A few minutes later, the security guard drove by to assure us that there was no fire and the alarm came on because of a power outage. Power eventually returned about 2:00 am and it was a struggle to get back to sleep. Paying so much money and not being able to sleep at night is very unfair. On checking out, we shared our total disappointment to the staff and was told that she couldn’t provide any form of compensation without the manager’s approval. Both management and staff showed no care or concern for our inconvenience and no willingness to do anything that would encourage guests to return to their property. Don’t be fooled by the word ‘resort’ — Skybeach hotel is not a resort. You can use that money to get something far better in the area.
