Hotel berhampiran Shaw Student Center, Salt Lake City

It would have been nice to know of the $100 deposit in cash BEFORE we arrived. I complained and they allowed me to use my CC. For the price, it was a reasonable stay, but next time I stay in SLC, I'll pay more for a nicer place.

The carpet and the cloth chair in the room were DISGUSTING! There were stains everywhere and I wouldn't have dared been barefoot on those floors. The bedsheets were ripped as well... It really needed to be updated! Additionally, our room was near the pool and we heard people laughing and screaming until 11 pm and the front desk had their music on all night, which also made it hard to sleep. Better insulation in the walls to drown out noise would have helped. Finally, the room was SO HOT. We were all sweating all night and couldn't get the room to cool down. On a positive note, the hotel staff was friendly and the fresh cookies at check in were nice. (That is the only reason I'm giving this hotel a 2 star rating instead of a 1.)

The rooms are almost identical as the real Hilton down town I’m not sure what that says about Hilton but this place was only 80 something dollars. The walls are just as thin at the Hilton that is 200 dollars a night. The only difference is that there isn’t a bar where you can take a 25 dollar bottle of wine to your room for 100 dollars. This place is completely adequate. I think the people with the negative reviews don’t have much experience in hotels. I’m in a hotel at least 90 nights a year. The Hilton brand is so good in Utah. I have stayed in the one on foothill like another person was mentioning how much better it was and the only difference is a a little shop where you can buy a Kirkland bottle of water for 4 dollars. When I want to stay somewhere like the people complaining we’re expecting for literally 60 dollars more you can stay at a Hyatt brand and in my experience it’s worth it if you don’t want to collect the extra money from your tdy allowance. You spend 90 dollars for a room and expect a luxurious experience I just find it humorous. Eat your waffle, yes the walls are thin, sleep in what you paid for because it’s not bad and stop trying to give a crappy review. My room as always been clean, the staff as always been friendly, I have never had my meds stolen like at the Marriott whose housekeepers have access to the safe in the room. You are in a bargain hotel if you want a completely silent room go to to the Hyatt regency and you will get what apparently you expect of all hotels. Other wise stop trying to ruin a business. Also if you have a daughter in a wheelchair in a sensitive medical condition spring for the extra 40 bucks. Again this place is fine comfortably and meets all my needs plus there is hbo. The one and only issue I have had is they ran out of towels so I can’t take my nightly sorry and they need to switch to a k cup coffee maker.

I'll edit this review if/when they BRING BACK DECAF COFFEE TO THE LOBBY. They completely removed it last week. Unfortunately, that will shade the rest of this review. This is an extended stay hotel that's easy to live in for long periods (and clearly many people do). We were here from just before Thanksgiving to just before Christmas (about 5 weeks), then returned for another week. We're scheduled to return in Feb/Mar... we'll see. Location: If you are skiing at Brighton or Solitude, there is a UTA ski bus stop directly out the front door; could not be easier. If you are headed to Alta/Snowbird, I suggest driving to the Historic Sandy TRAX station park and ride to catch that UTA ski bus, because it has a big parking lot and you know you'll get a seat. Otherwise, you are driving yourself (check for prices and required reservations to park at all the ski places; it is VERY dynamic and has already changed for a couple of them this year). The hotel is off Fort Union Ave by just far enough to not have too much road noise. It's walking distance to any/all retail you could dream of. Seriously, ANY. That includes a grocery store. Lots of restaurants, Target, Walmart, a Sierra Outfitters, and lots more. Amenities: Nice big pool, decent hot tub which is usually hot enough. Both can be overrun with kids and families, but if you keep your eye on things you can find quiet time in there, usually. As at any hotel, the highly-treated water can start to make your skin itch after too many days of apres-ski hot tubbing. The fitness room is large with lots of equipment; they don't have a Universal, but do have treadmills, elliptical, Peleton bike, recumbent, weight rack and two benches, assorted mats, rollers, Bosus, etc. Balance scale to check your weight. Breakfast is pretty good for this kind of hotel. Three kinds of eggs that cycle through (cheese and veggie omelettes, plain scrambled), three kinds of meat that do the same (bacon, ham, sausage). Potatoes or sometimes biscuits&gravy. Waffles. Oatmeal. Most days they put out a cereal selection. Canned fruit. Wednesday is the managers social dinner, which consists of a lettuce salad and a main like meatballs, BBW meat, or chili. Beer and wine, a dessert like blondies or lemon bars. We REALLY appreciate the Wednesday ”dinner.” Service: The staff is absolutely friendly and helpful, every one of them. Most speak some English (some do not, at all). Any problems we had with our room were addressed quickly. Rooms/Building: The building is shaped like a circle. In the summer, be careful of rooms that face the courtyard as there is a basketball court out there which is noisy. The rooms are big enough with what could be called a ”full” kitchen: 2 burner stovetop, full size fridge, dishwasher, drip coffee maker. I won't stay here again. The person working the desk didn't seem to understand or listen to the answer to his questions, kept asking the same questions repeatedly; two servings of coffee in the room, one regular , one decaf. Room cleanliness: someone else's hair on bathroom floor. Difficult and expensive to leave truck in parking lot for the week we were gone, even though we were staying there on our return trip. Just frustrating overall experience.

Das Zimmer war soweit okay. Die Möbelstücke etwas veraltet. Aber insgesamt war alles befriedigend sauber. Leider hatte ich etwas im Bad liegen lassen. Ich hatte sofort angerufen, dass Sie mir das bitte zurück legen, weil ich gegen Ende meiner Reise erneut ins Hotel komme. Das Reinigungspersonal hat es aber leider an sich genommen, anstatt es an die Rezeption zu geben. Es war verschwunden. Sehr traurig! Der Mann an der Rezeption wirkte auf mich genervt und dadurch unfreundlich.

Their free airport shuttle service is worth for us to stay there. They have most of the essential functions, including gym and swimming pool. But the mat is a bit unclean.

I don't get excited staying at a HIX but they do the job. If that's all you're looking for, this will fit the bill. I liked the location, in the middle of a big shopping center with some interesting restaurant options, a supermarket, and a surprisingly nice nature preserve with trails for walking or running. As for the hotel itself, a decent woodsy design for the brand, but the room itself was on the small side. It was modern with the standard HIX design elements and a good bed and bedding- but I didn't really like the sink being in the main bedroom. I also hated the adjoining room, which was a bit of a problem in terms of hearing my neighbor. Also the HVAC system is old and there is no wall thermostat, only a plastic dial on the unit itself with no temperature setting so you have to keep adjusting it in the hopes of finding a comfortable temp. Must have been the original units from a long time ago but at least it was relatively quiet. Breakfast was the HIX standard: free and you get waht you pay for. Anyway, in terms of a reasonable place for a short stay it was okay and I give it a 4/5 mostly because I liked the location
