Mikaella Hotel

Power kept going out. Room was very tiny. Water was only cold in shower the first night. Second night the water finally got hot. Windows don’t give you much privacy as it’s a courtyard and you can see others across and vice versa. PS. There was a club next door and music was thumping until 4 am.

The only good thing about this place is the location, other than that, it’s very bad, and extremely noisy couldn’t sleep without earplugs. The room smelled humid, we didn’t care until the next morning when I took a shower and the whole room flooded, there was a pool around the bed. I went to ask for help at the reception and the lady called Maripaz ignored us, had to wait more than 30 min for a manager to arrive. We had booked two nights, and we obviously left. I’m still waiting on my refund. Would never recommend this place.

I don't like writing bad reviews but there a lot of things that need to be said. First off, the bathroom had no fan or window to the outside. Consequently, it smelled damp and musty and that smell spread throughout the room. Whenever we were in the room, we kept the door and window open to try to air it out. Also, the lighting in the bathroom was completely inadequate. The light wasn't strong enough for my wife to do her makeup in the mirror and the light never penetrated to the shower area (it's behind a partial wall) so you essentially shower in the dark. There is no where in the room to hang the shower towels after showering. There are 2 hanging lights on each side of the bed that give minimal light. To read in bed, I had to use the flashlight on my phone. The hotel is supposed to be non smoking. I had to sign an agreement to not smoke in the hotel and was clearly told that smoking had to be done off premises. I'm a nonsmoker so I was happy about that rule. However, during the 3 days that we spent there, I saw 2 different sets of people smoking in the common area of the hotel in clear view of the staff who did nothing. Also, there is a nightclub a few doors down that play loud music till 2am. Not the hotel's fault but it made it hard to sleep at night. On a positive note, the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is located within the old town so lots of churches and great restaurants. There is a rooftop terrace overlooking the street that we enjoyed at night.

Nice place, traditional Mexican interior courtyard, a little noisy during day but quiet around bedtime. Wonderful restaurant, not open early if you want breakfast early. Walking distance to everything in SMA. Just be aware it is located on a street that has the traffic blocked being so close to the cathedral plaza, so taxi drop off a 1/2 block away if you have a lot or heavy luggage, but good to keep traffic noise down. Good value, you get what you pay for.

This hotel is a nice place to stay, the staff is very attentive of your needs and it’s right in the center of the city, highly recommend this hotel!

Great location, 1 min from the main plaza, clean rooms, comfortable bed.

Got a backpack stolen from the lobby and had little help checking cameras. Never found it.

The hotel is well-located near the main square; but the rooms are very small; the bathrooms are tiny; and the music from the restaurant is way too loud until late at night. Wi-Fi was glacially slow. The hotel needs to have breakfast included. Staff was very kind & helpful.

Being a remote worker, the first thing I look for when reading reviews is Wi-Fi strength. I must say I was highly impressed! I was able to work without any problems, & later stream TV with no interruptions. The room was as pictured, but I misunderstood the junior suite to have patio access to the balcony pictured, & my room did not. The balcony was beside my room, about a half level up. Overall, the room was nice & clean, but I did find two small things (an earplug & what appeared to be a bottle cap) in the floor of my room that weren’t mine. They were rather small, & I see how they could be overlooked, but it was slightly concerning. The restaurant downstairs begins setting up rather early. Around 6:00 am, I was awaken by some of the noise. Also, the area has loud music at night. I highly recommend bringing earplugs along. There is a pharmacy downstairs & a Starbucks right next door, which was very nice. ATM access is a few meters away. I feel that I’m leaving a bad review, & I hate that because over all, my experience was positive & the staff was very kind & helpful, but those few small things were problematic, unfortunately.
