When researching hotels in Santa Barbara, The Simpson House Inn appeared to be the perfect place to stay. Incredible reviews; voted second best hotel in Santa Barbara with a central location. We were very excited for our upcoming stay. I read a couple of the 0-1star reviews but thought; you always get a few bad reviews! However, having since finished our 2 night stay, I wish I had taken the bad reviews seriously as I feel that the majority were both fair and accurate. We felt the Simpson House Inn was a huge disappointment. First off, I would like to state that the grounds were lovely and lived up to the images and reviews. A small complaint (but something we feel you would expect from a 5 star hotel) the cushions on the loungers and chairs were left out at night, therefore in the morning they were always damp with dew and covered in cobwebs and unusable until they dried. When we checked in, there is no help with the luggage to take it upstairs. Again small issue but something I feel you would expect from a 5 star rated hotel. Our room was small, dark and very outdated. Everything creaked and it smelt very damp, it reminded me of an antique centre. The shower in our room was either freezing or boiling. It was clean, however could do with a good dusting. The location is ok. It’s a 10minute walk to the top of state street. And a 40min walk to the pier and funk zone. But, I would not say it was totally central. The afternoon wine tasting and afternoon tea were lovely! However, the gourmet breakfast was very basic and the service incredibly lacklustre. There is no staff on site after 9pm other than a next door caretaker. I personally, found the staff to be unapproachable and cold and not 5 star service. It felt very much that they just wanted to take your money and then to be left alone. Overall, in my opinion The Simpson House Inn is a B&B and not a 5 star hotel. I’m am incredibly surprised as to why they have such great reviews and are considered a 5 star hotel. I would not stay again nor recommend The Simpson House Inn.

Staffs are courteous. Facilities are well maintained. Breakfast is excellent healthy and nutritious.. Room is spacious and comfortable. Bed is large and supportive for a good night sleep and rejuvenation. Location is convenient to local restaurants and beach. Santa Barbara is only 17 minutes drive away. Many Michelin starred restaurants in Santa Barbara but suggest you to make early reservation.
Carpinteria has a nice star beach and the sunset in the horizon is romantic and beautiful according to your mood.

We arrived late that night. Room was great, we had 2 bathrooms, a separate living room. Except for bathroom sink drain was clogged and cased water flooded everywhere. But they did not have similar room was available for us. So we end up not switching the room.

PPengguna TetamuWe enjoyed our stay here. Our king room was conveniently located for us, as we had a lot of things to unload. We were in the back of the hotel in the corner, the first door by the entrance. The room was clean and the bathroom was really nice. The couch was comfy. We enjoyed using the hot tub at night and sitting by the fire pit. There were people on the putting green and playing the giant chess board, and there was also a ping pong table. The breakfast was really good, especially the mini quiche. We needed ice for our cooler, and the ice machine was all the way in the lobby and there were no ice buckets in the room. We were only there overnight so the refrigerator wasn't able to make enough ice to fill the cooler. Also I agree with 100% of the other reviews - why on earth charge $10 for parking? Totally unnecessary, just a way to make $$$. This hotel is convenient to the airport, but is not in a scenic area. We usually like to take a morning walk, but I would not recommend it in this area. There are definitely other hotels you could choose if you want more of a view in an area safe to walk.

There's a little grocery store about a 5 minute walk up S Milpas St, so convenient. Lots of great places to eat within walking distance (1 mile) or a short drive. I didn't eat at the hotel. The room was clean but toiletries were not replenished, and my dirty glasses were not washed or replaced. For the high price tag, I would have expected that. The air conditioning in the room was great, quiet, and easy to adjust.The front desk team was very friendly and knowledgeable. My favorite people were the Valet team. They were fun to speak with, very down to earth and did their job well. Valet parking is $26.00 / night. I didn't see that price anywhere when I booked.

This hotel is beautiful. The valet and the front staff were lovely. The rooftop pool was perfect and the location was just right.
However- the walls of the hotel rooms are PAPER THIN. You can hear absolutely everything. When we first checked in at 430pm, there was housekeeping working on the room next door and it sounded like a construction site (we actually to confirm it there was)- vacuums hitting the walls, furniture being moved, stuff being dropped onto the floors- but the worst was very loud conversations about things that should not be discussed in a work environment at a $500/night hotel.
In order to mask the noise, we put on some music in our room (at 5pm mind you) and 10 minutes later we got a knock on the door reporting the music was too loud!
The next morning we woke up to our neighbors laughing hysterically and blasting Taylor swift (and hey, I’m a swiftie myself), but the loud cackling is not something I want to be woken up to on vacation.
I am really sad to say I will not stay here again. It was definitely not worth spending almost $500 for one night.

PPengguna TetamuManeuvering the street maze to enter the hotel property was daunting as was the limited parking. I did see guests from the neighboring hotel using this hotel’s parking spots. Check-in was easy. No bar soap in bathroom; had to go back to front desk to collect. Room was clean and all equipment was operable. Our room was on the third floor facing the main street. Throughout the night, we heard general traffic noises and the sirens of the local public safety department. In the fog of my sleep, one time I woke thinking the fire department indeed was at the hotel. All in all we would stay here again.

PPengguna TetamuI was totally pleased with everything. I so appreciate a safe place to stay at night with CoCo; I honestly worried I'd have to travel and sleep in my car or a tent. Being able to bring her in and have a warm, safe bed and clean bathroom was a blessing. The front desk was very kind both when I checked in and when I left. The house keeper I crossed paths with was super friendly. I don't think anyone can ask much more from a hotel. And I don't know how anyone traveling with a pet can't be THRILLED they have a chance to rest comfortably after a day of driving. Thank you, ever so kindly.
