In recent reviews, there seems to be some crossover between this hotel, The Catalonia Ses Estaques, and the sister hotel next door The Catalonia Royal Ses Estatques. Make sure you dont get them confused because they are not the same, and i saw one couple arriving, go straight into the Royal ses estaques reception to be told ”youre next door”, which it seemed gave them some small disappointment. The royal ses estaques, is modern, has swim up rooms, has more of the ibiza vibe about it than the non Royal version. This review is for the Catalonia Ses Estaques. Firstly, we had a great time, and that should be all you need to know. the rooms are clean, the staff are great, the food in the dining room is plentiful, and of good quality so really there are no complaints. However, the rooms are definitely in the autumn of their lives, I understand there are some refurbished rooms, but Thomson has not contracted these, so i was told, therefore the room itself whilst clean and perfectly adequate with a massive comfortable bed, it was not of a modern standard. Im mid 50s and my wife is late 40s, we felt like the youngest people by a long way in this hotel, that is not being disrespectful toward anybody, but be in no illusion that the demographic of this hotel is an older one. The pool and bar area play mostly 80s/90s music all day, no ibiza sunset tunes. the evening entertainment, is not something i would choose to go to, therefore we skipped this (apart from magic albert who was very entertaining). Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. The location is great, beautiful views to Formentera, it is situated at one end of the promenade, and the marina area with plenty of bars and restaurants is about 5-10 min walk, with the main town/restaurant street 15-20 mins walk, and the full promenade 35-40 mins walk depending how quick you walk. Dari and the other entertainment guy do a great job of engaging with the guests. If you want to hire a car, they will arrange a local company to come to the hotel for you, you can purchase ferry tickets at reception, having said that all the ferry terminals have English speaking staff. I really cant fault the hotel, but i probably wouldn't return as it didn't offer me the Ibiza experience I've had in the past when staying in other parts of the island.
