Ouril Pontao Hotel

I recently stayed at this hotel [26/2/25-5/3/25] and, despite unfavourable reviews found the hotel much to my satisfaction. The food, an abundant buffet breakfast, was terrific and so too was the evening meal although the selection of dishes on offer was minimal. My room was great but the TV did not work-no great hardship but something management should be aware of. The most girl staff looked and slinky in their dark denim uniform giving the hotel an understated but professional consistency. However it was touch and go as to whether there were any snacks available in the afternoon. There was "music" courtesy of a large bass speaker which seemed to go on and off on an ad hoc basis. If I had my way I'd get rid of it as I have not travelled all that way to listen to it. I would have liked to have seen an on site shop if only for suntan oil/toothpaste and water. Finally the hotel's website photos are way out of date and could do with being updated

Arrived late in the evening to be told the hotel was overbooked and was sent to another hotel of lesser quality 600m away with the promise a room would be available the day after. Returned the following day to be told the same story that no room was available and to return the day after. Two days later they found a room after complaining to the manager but it was only available after 3pm. I was not the only person that this was happening to. It spoit the first two days on my holiday and the management said that some form of compensation was being considered but this has since been rejected. The hotel room was acceptable, breakfast and facilities average. But my experience is don't guarantee on getting what you paid for.

Second stay at pontao , lovely hotel central to everything .The rooms are basic, worn and tired , but spotless. The cleaning team do a great job. Breakfast is ok, average but adequate. The pool is also ok, but some ***** in the hotel insists on playing bass heavy music, from 9.30am till 8.pm making it impossible to relax. Please sort it out. The noise travels into the rooms. Boom boom boom . Awful

The hotel is in a superb location very close to the beach and the main street. The hotel it's self is pretty basic, but very clean, the cleaning staff are working all day, working very hard, they are all very friendly and always smiling and saying hello. Breakfast was good, a great selection of bread rolls, cheese, cold meats, salad, fruit, yoghurts, cake. On the hot counter you could get omlettes, fried eggs, bacon (no it is not English bacon, so don't expect this !) plenty of good food to fill up for the day. Swimming pool - ladders into pool only have 2 steps, so you have to have very long legs or be quite flexible to get out, older people would have extreme difficulty with this.
