Hotel berhampiran Art Alley, Santa Rosa

Visiting family and wanted to stay in Sonoma. Everything was so expensive, I found this BW in Santa Rosa. I used points to get a cheaper rate. Joel looks like it was a very nice motel back in the day. Larger than expected. Our room was in the back, and was clean and updated. It was fine for our overnight stay. Room had a smell when we walked in and had to open slider for fresh air. We discovered a little potion that overlooks pool. I was disappointed we hadn’t arrived earlier so we could sit out there. There were two lotion bottles, and one was half empty. Must of been left from previous guest. That kind of upset my husband.

It was my pleasure to stay at the Hampton Inn Santa Rosa for the first time for one night March 27-28, 2024. A positive experience I hope to repeat. Compared to other Hampton Inns (and other hotels for that matter), I found two features of this property above average. First, the Fitness Center featured recently updated equipment including two ellipticals, two treadmills, stationary bicycles, and a rowing machine, and was thoughtfully stocked with towels and water. Second, the self-serve breakfast featured a variety of fresh whole fruits, cereals and breads, and hot fare including delicious scrambled eggs. My tastefully updated bathroom featured a strong hot shower and the rare ceiling exhaust fan. The only negative I noted: an overly skinny lineup of TV channels. The system mostly drove users to subscription-based streaming services. Such a shame to have such a nice large TV in the room but so few choices of channels to watch.

What very comfortable, friendly, staff, and accommodating. They have a pool, hot tub, gym, sauna and steam room. One of the things I found unusual and surprising was that they sold the items for gas, such as snacks and allergy medication at a reasonable price. No price gouging! When I asked about this, apparently it’s some thing that the staff at fault for. Definitely coming back… For more comfortable and appealing to the Doubletree. Highly recommended that you visit Hana the Japanese restaurant and Mary’s pizza. Delicious!

My stay at this hotel was absolutely fantastic! The service was impeccable, and the rooms were a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. Our travel group landed in Oakland, and on the way to Petaluma, our rental car was broken into in Oakland, including our clothes, toiletries, luggage, computers. We arrived to quality Inn late on Friday night. We checked in with Aaron at the front desk. We had asked if there were any 24 hour convenience stores where we can buy toiletries and after hearing our story, he gathered all the toiletries that he could provide us with, and that got us through our long weekend in Petaluma/Napa/Sonoma. The location of quality inn is close to the industrial area of Petaluma and near a lot of breweries (Henhouse and Lagunitas) . A lot of the breweries in that location tend to close early but you are just a 10 minute drive from downtown Petaluma. Petaluma is close-ish to Sonoma and Napa as long as you factor in traffic, it’s definitely worth the value if you don’t want to stay in Napa proper, especially during peak seasons (other hotels in napa proper were over $1000 for 3 nights!). The parking lot has a lot of EV chargers. I never felt unsafe at this hotel, but I did notice a number of homeless looking people wandering the street next to the hotel, but police were always on patrol. We got the king suite, which actually has a separate living space area with a bar top and microwave and mini refrigerator. Having the space was really nice, even though we were just 1 couple. The room itself isn’t very modern but it was clean. And as long as you are not going to spend your entire time in the hotel, it’s totally worth it. They also provide a continental breakfast in the mornings and a pool. We didnt use it but families with kiddos were always there. Definitely worth the money during peak travel seasons in Sonoma and Napa.

My husband and I experience the WORST stay of our lives here. What’s worse is the owners’ refusal to make anything right. Soon after we arrived and were hoping to relax next to the fire, a noxious odor began to infiltrate the cottage. We contacted the innkeeper, who came in and immediately agreed that there was a bad odor coming from the fireplace. She suggested changing to another cottage, which emitted the same noxious odor as the first cottage we were staying in. She said the fireplaces had recently been serviced. We think some harsh chemical was used to clean or service them. The innkeeper suggested that we spend our vacation time finding a cottage that didn’t have a smell, while she attended to other things. That should have been her responsibility. We ended up having leave the windows open all night along in December! We contacted the inn after our stay and they said they acknowledged that there was a foul smelling odor, but said “It's our sincere hope that our offer of a different cottage and the complementary wine will demonstrate our dedication to ensuring your future experiences with us are delightful and stress-free, in line with the visits you've had in the past.” They offered us a cheap bottle of wine to compensate for a cold, stressful, toxic night. The offer for a “different cottage” was no offer at all: we tried another cottage and it was just as foul smelling due to the fireplaces being serviced. And the innkeeper did not assist us with finding another cottage because she was too busy. This place used to be beloved to us. This experience has caused us to do further research in the Cottage Grove Inn business to see if we were not the only ones who has experienced this. We read reviews on various sites. Several guests have left negative reviews recently. Some of these complaints are very alarming, such as non-compliance with ADA rules, faulty smoke and carbon monoxide detectors that required a 911 call and a visit from the fire department, fraudulent credit card charges, poor management, customers feeling they were treated rudely by the manager, and an extreme decline in quality in the last year, charging more and offering less. It appears this business has undergone a change in ownership in the last few years, being purchased from its longtime owners. As returning and longtime customers, we (myself and my husband) feel that we have been disrespected and treated poorly. We hoped that we would be treated with more respect with an offer for a resolution due to this incident. We are reporting this Inn and its owners to the Department of Consumer Affairs and the California Department of Public Health. For your own health and well-being, we advise to stay away from Cottage Grove Inn.
