Hotel berhampiran Whole Foods Market, Santa Rosa

Visiting family and wanted to stay in Sonoma. Everything was so expensive, I found this BW in Santa Rosa. I used points to get a cheaper rate. Joel looks like it was a very nice motel back in the day. Larger than expected. Our room was in the back, and was clean and updated. It was fine for our overnight stay. Room had a smell when we walked in and had to open slider for fresh air. We discovered a little potion that overlooks pool. I was disappointed we hadn’t arrived earlier so we could sit out there. There were two lotion bottles, and one was half empty. Must of been left from previous guest. That kind of upset my husband.

Room and linens/towels were immaculately clean. Love that the room had NO carpet - laminate floors in the whole room. Fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in room. Had no issues with anything - everything worked and was in good order. As others in previous reviews have said, sound travels into the room very easily from the hallway - but it didn't bother us as we weren't in the room much and are heavy sleepers. Our room door had seen better days and could stand to be replaced, but nothing about it affected my opinion of the room/property. Front desk staff for afternoon check-in was polite and accommodating. Morning check-out staff was friendly and personable. As with other Choice hotels, there is a free hot breakfast. Here is where the hotel could improve - the selection/choices were very slim (one pan of eggs, one pan of sausage links, a waffle machine, one carafe each of leaded and decaf coffee, a paltry selection of bread/baked items, 2 sugary cereal options, one type of milk only, and sugar/sweeter/creamer packets). This was the first Choice hotel I've stayed in that didn't at least have fruit, yogurt, hot cereal, or liquid creamer of some kind. There also wasn't anyone attending the dining area to ensure guests had what they needed and items did not run out. The location was just fine for us; easy on/off the 101 freeway. If you are a Choice Gold or above member, there are designated spaces for you. Parking was fine and plenty of space in the lot. Overall, great stay and would consider staying again if we travel to Santa Rosa in the future.

It was my pleasure to stay at the Hampton Inn Santa Rosa for the first time for one night March 27-28, 2024. A positive experience I hope to repeat. Compared to other Hampton Inns (and other hotels for that matter), I found two features of this property above average. First, the Fitness Center featured recently updated equipment including two ellipticals, two treadmills, stationary bicycles, and a rowing machine, and was thoughtfully stocked with towels and water. Second, the self-serve breakfast featured a variety of fresh whole fruits, cereals and breads, and hot fare including delicious scrambled eggs. My tastefully updated bathroom featured a strong hot shower and the rare ceiling exhaust fan. The only negative I noted: an overly skinny lineup of TV channels. The system mostly drove users to subscription-based streaming services. Such a shame to have such a nice large TV in the room but so few choices of channels to watch.

Very nice! Room was very spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Really, really liked this place. The staff are just lovely and managed to organise an early check-in and sorted out the rooms so that we could have one twin and one double. We were given so much information re where to go / what to do etc. Both of the rooms were lovely - clean and comfortable (although one bed did squeak a lot); the breakfast is good; the swimming pool area is lovely and gets lots of sun; parking is very easy and there is plenty of it. Would definitely stay here again!

My stay at this hotel was absolutely fantastic! The service was impeccable, and the rooms were a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. My husband and I experience the WORST stay of our lives here. What’s worse is the owners’ refusal to make anything right. Soon after we arrived and were hoping to relax next to the fire, a noxious odor began to infiltrate the cottage. We contacted the innkeeper, who came in and immediately agreed that there was a bad odor coming from the fireplace. She suggested changing to another cottage, which emitted the same noxious odor as the first cottage we were staying in. She said the fireplaces had recently been serviced. We think some harsh chemical was used to clean or service them. The innkeeper suggested that we spend our vacation time finding a cottage that didn’t have a smell, while she attended to other things. That should have been her responsibility. We ended up having leave the windows open all night along in December! We contacted the inn after our stay and they said they acknowledged that there was a foul smelling odor, but said “It's our sincere hope that our offer of a different cottage and the complementary wine will demonstrate our dedication to ensuring your future experiences with us are delightful and stress-free, in line with the visits you've had in the past.” They offered us a cheap bottle of wine to compensate for a cold, stressful, toxic night. The offer for a “different cottage” was no offer at all: we tried another cottage and it was just as foul smelling due to the fireplaces being serviced. And the innkeeper did not assist us with finding another cottage because she was too busy. This place used to be beloved to us. This experience has caused us to do further research in the Cottage Grove Inn business to see if we were not the only ones who has experienced this. We read reviews on various sites. Several guests have left negative reviews recently. Some of these complaints are very alarming, such as non-compliance with ADA rules, faulty smoke and carbon monoxide detectors that required a 911 call and a visit from the fire department, fraudulent credit card charges, poor management, customers feeling they were treated rudely by the manager, and an extreme decline in quality in the last year, charging more and offering less. It appears this business has undergone a change in ownership in the last few years, being purchased from its longtime owners. As returning and longtime customers, we (myself and my husband) feel that we have been disrespected and treated poorly. We hoped that we would be treated with more respect with an offer for a resolution due to this incident. We are reporting this Inn and its owners to the Department of Consumer Affairs and the California Department of Public Health. For your own health and well-being, we advise to stay away from Cottage Grove Inn.
