We went for a quiet city retreat for a birthday celebration. At first glance its location on top of a upscale shopping mall seemed incongruous. But it went far above both the mall and out expectations. The elevator access to guest rooms from the lobby was controlled by the room key. The spacious lobby, restaurant, bar and outdoor pool above ensured that we felt isolated from the city and its sounds, yet we could appreciate some city views. Bed with the duvet provided a perfect nest. The personal attention to detail by all staff was professional yet delightful. Everything worked perfectly and was spotlessly clean. Supper at the grill was great - for a light meal we found the Cesar salad with langostinos and the seafood bisque was perfect. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and complete. The 20th floor executive lounge delightful. So many earned accolades! Two of many were Mario at reception & Belkis at breakfast. A sugar-free birthday cake!

The Property needs an update despite everyone choosing this hotel for its name and location. Low Points: no vegetarian options in the lounge beyond fruit, restaurant has minimal vegetarian options, no champagne on property by the glass--only bottles-, no local Dominican food on property like rice and beans for lunch or dinner, no slippers in rooms but on request, old AC system made for quite noisy aircon across the property including rooms, the confusing "Happy Hour" in Lounge 5-7PM really includes only 2 small pours of wine, "no upgrade available" upon check-in despite 40% occupancy during my stay according to several bell men, changed my room 3 times to find a quiet location far from busy highways below thanks to the patience of Tiffany, NO welcome card from GM or any manager in room, no amenity in room as Platinum Elite, no recognition card or welcome letter as Platinum Elite in any way for my 4 days, dated dark furniture rooms, chemical-based powdered milk CoffeeMate for coffee/tea service, missing floorboards around the pool and in the main restaurant (see pic) have no excuse; 2 pre-arrival emails to hotel staff including GM Yudit Garcia went IGNORED AND UNANSWERED before our arrival requesting vegetarian options, etc trying to set our stay up for success in advance High Points: the high-end shopping next to hotel, Maria in the Lounge did her best with the rules she is given ('small pours two times of wine per guest, then order more from room service") Unique Points: local specialities on breakfast buffet on occasion including local viandas and tubers and vegetables

Rest assured you will not be disappointed with the quality of this hotel. It’s pretty far away from the main tourist area (zona colonial) but because Uber rides are so cheap here, that’s not a big deal. It is in the same building as the Blue Mall so if you’re interested in some luxury shopping or quality restaurants, it is ultra-convenient for those activities too. Bed, bathroom, lobby, and hotel restaurant were all top-notch. For a city hotel, the room is spacious. Pool is closed for renovation right now but the sun deck is still open. Highly recommended!

If I could rate this review and hotel higher I would! I am writing this review while I’m still here because The service was incredible! Belkis at the Winston’s along with the staff, Enrique, Jose and Edgar Sandoval- the reception staff was just top tier and beyond accommodating ! I’m coming back and already booked my next trip.

Excellent location and very supportive personnel. The hotel is good and so is the restaurant. Be aware of a 10% “service charge” that they impose on you, on top of an already overpriced room (($324. 00) for 1 night. Talk about “junk fees”! While i LOVE BonVoy, Next time I will go to the competition. Either another hotel within Bonvoy , or a different chain.

This was our first time visiting Santo Domingo we went to a wedding. I have never written a review at trip advisor but my experience was so positive that I had to share it with others. Excellent location next to the mall. The room was spacious. Our fare included a delicious breakfast. The best part was the staff, I would like to give a shout out to Belkis, Argelis, Solange and Andy. They made us feel like family getting us everything we needed , they even found the football game we wanted to watch at the bar. It will not be our last time staying there for sure.

This JW Marriott has been awarded for many years as the best business hotel in Santo Domingo. From its excellent location in the most central mall of the city (BlueMall) with the option of international quality restaurants such as Shibuya, to the first-class lingerie, making a stay there convenient for short stays where there is no need to go out in the chaotic traffic of the city for shopping or visiting a good restaurant. Although new hotel options have arrived after the pandemic, it remains a benchmark in the city.

Being a regular visitor of this hotel, I have to say the service continues to be excellent. Every time I return the service gets better from Mario at the front desk to the bellmen at the entry. This trip in particular, Diomaris and Soranyi were incredible at the restaurant. They were attentive and professional and a pleasure. The whole staff is great. The hostess is welcoming. I can’t wait to go back. Thank you JW.

I have stayed at the JW Marriott 6 times this year, including during a tropical storm in August. The hotel didn’t miss a beat during the storm even though many things were closed down for several days. I have found the morning restaurant team particularly helpful, across all the servers—if there is a group award they deserve one! They are attentive and helpful, something I appreciate when on a tight morning schedule. I also appreciate the team who works the front door, again invariably upbeat and helpful.

Excellent service by all the Staff, specially Belkis at breakfast. Very kind and helpful. Nice location, you can go almost everywhere at walking distance. Best hotel in the city of Santo Domingo. 100% Recommended.

The service is amazing. Everyone is very friendly and extremely accommodating. We ate in the restaurant every morning with excellent service and attention to detail from Ricardo and Belkis. I look forward to coming back each year.

I am a regular at JW Marriott and the Vertigo bar because of the excellent services and comfort of the area. The pool area and the bar are ideal, especially for me, who works remotely and frequently goes there to work with some of the great cocktail options on their drink menu. Moscow Mule and the Margarita are still my top choices. I highly recommend them. The staff is incredibly kind, particularly Jose Mejia, who always treats me with respect and a positive attitude. Since the pandemic, I have been a regular at this hotel, and I always request Jose because he is very humble and his service is always impeccable, although the entire staff is fantastic. On Thursdays, they occasionally bring in a DJ to the bar. This is also fantastic, and the desserts and Dominican cuisine are also excellent options. I do have one complaint: I miss the day pass with admission, which was ideal for those days when I simply wanted to spend time with my family and friends at the pool with a magnificent view of Santo Domingo. I hope they bring this option back.

This hotel is the baseline by which all others should be measured by. I travel constantly through many countries and JW Santo Domingo never ceases to surprise me. The JW family (yes, the word is "family", not staff) is amazing and they do what they do from the heart. It's unfair for me to only mention a few names because everyone here is AMAZING but I have known Diomaris and Diego since my first visit here 9-10 years ago and I always look forward to seeing their big smiles. The JW Santo Domingo provides an EXPERIENCE. Not a hotel stay.

Everything is this hotel is great. Clean and very nice staff members. The rooms are very comfortable. Modern . Language is not a barrier. Everyone is absolutely attentive. Feels like being home. The restaurant/bar staff are superb 👌 Belkis is super nice and friendly. The minute you get out your vechicle you are greeted by the attentive staff with a smile all the way to check in . I am very happy I chose this Hotel, I will definitely bring my family here.

Everytime I come to the JW Marriott, I feel at home. The front desk staff, the bellmen, the housekeeping staff and the restaurant staff are all top notch, service driven artisans of their craft. When I pull up to the front of the hotel Jovin greets me with a warm smile and quickly grabs my bags. Then Mario or Lia helps get me the best room while making me laugh. Then during the turndown service, the gentleman comes around and gives me chocolates that I love. When I come to breakfast in the morning, the buffet is almost overwhelming with all the options to choose from. Belkis and Tanyi always remember what I like to eat and drink and make me feel so special. They are so sweet and kind and very funny. I look forward to coming to Santo Domingo because of my wonderful experience at the JW Marriott. It certainly lives up to the JW Marriott standard.
