Hotel Hampton by Hilton di Scottsdale

The Hampton Inn & Suites, Scottsdale is our ”go to” Hotel when we are in Phoenix. The staff is friendly and helpful and someone is on the desk 24 hours. We had a room with a king bed, sleeper sofa, arm chair, a desk, two ottomans on wheels and lots of drawer space. Electric plugs everywhere for charging phones, laptops, etc. We also had a fridge and a microwave. The bathroom is a good size, with lots of counter top space for my husband and me. Nice shower & tub, and hooks for hanging. There is a closet in the room, for clothes or storing your suitcases with an iron & board & a steamer. Free, ample parking. Even with the car show and the pre- Super bowl crowd we always had a parking space when we returned in the evening. To add to all of this is their wonderful breakfasts. Everyday, a different choice and the food is delicious! The coffee is very good, too, and it is available 24 hours for all you coffee addicts, like myself. Lovely outside pool with lots of chairs/tables. This hotel will continue to be our hotel of choice when we are in town--and we have tried other hotels. I highly recommend it.

Our stay at this hotel on September 3rd was abysmal, especially considering we had traveled from Ireland shortly prior. Upon arrival at 1 AM, we found the front door locked with no visible staff. There was no response to the buzzer or phone calls for nearly 40 minutes. The Hilton helpline was unhelpful, suggesting we pay for another room elsewhere despite us asking multiple times to have maintenance crew or security called to the property to assist us. When we finally entered, the receptionist was unapologetic and apathetic, showing zero hospitality. They offered no explanation or assistance for our prolonged wait outside. This poor service set the tone for our entire stay. The room itself was shabby and worn out. Due to a miscommunication from out Holiday Broker (that the staff failed to address or even highlight what our room type would be!), we were given a king-sized bed for 3 people. As a result, one person had to sleep on the floor and woke up with bug bites. We also discovered part of the ice room ceiling had fallen, with water dripping from above. These maintenance issues were ignored throughout our stay. To add insult to injury, we were overcharged for water. Instead of the advertised $5, we were charged $10 (plus tax) after checkout. Throughout our entire stay, the staff remained unhelpful and dismissive, with another receptionist sharing the same silence and short word answers, though we actually got a ”hello” from this one! This experience fell far below the standards expected from a Hilton property, and completely ruined our view of Scottsdale. The staff's poor attitude made an already bad situation even worse. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, especially international travellers, it's a blessing we only stayed here for one night. It's a disgrace to the Hilton brand and an embarrassment to the hospitality industry. 1 star for this property, other Hilton properties we stayed in throughout our trip were MUCH better in terms of quality, hospitality, and price
