Ulasan Xiaozhu Homestay (Shaanxi South Road)

The entrance to the room goes through a shared corridor where a man and a woman live — they often talk loudly and smoke, so it can be noisy and a bit uncomfortable to pass through. The entrance itself looks more like a small shack, which feels quite unpleasant. However, once inside, the staircase is really cool and gives the place a special atmosphere. The location is great — lots of nice cafés and restaurants nearby, and it’s easy to get around. The host was very kind and responsive, always replied quickly, helped with everything, and even refunded the nights I decided not to stay. After checking other options, I realized this place isn’t as bad as I first thought — it has its good sides. The room itself is beautiful, stylish, and pleasant to stay in.

It was a quite small and cozy room with old Chinese vibe. I would recommend to stay to feel how usual people live in China. What I like most of all: it was not serviced appartment with front desk, but online team - group in Wechat created works very well and solve the question in real time quite effectively. they helped us to register in Police as foreigner (sometimes even serviced appartment with 24 hour front desk reject with it). The only thing the communication feels no so polite- "commandarm style", from the other hand this feeling could be probably explained by language barier and cultural difference. So I would evaluate this like 4.5 from 5 stars. what caould be improved: Or more precise it could be greate to inform the visitors in advance about everything. Usually properties shows not only property inside photo but also outside. It was a little surprise for us where the property placed. It was a private sector and I attached the photos to my review. They are the photos that were absent at description, I would say it would be good to inform visitors about this in advance. From the other hand in addition where the property is placed (in old private sector) the future visitors will have advantage of living at very center of Shanghai paying reasonable price. The rest of the photo at description are correct and I can I approve the condition of apartment corresponds to description and that is important. What I can add in addition. Despite on property informs in advance that property will not provide the soap, shampoo, etc, I would say to have a soap is more important than having toothbrush of single use, because it is very annoying to buy all stuff at every new hotel because of luggage weight.

We found it is not clean, the toilet amenties and cleaniness is quite bad. We totally not enjoy. Water is not provided, thus we immediately check out the next day. The mingsu location is not suitable for laarge luaggages and old folks friendly. They not even send the password to ontime and blame me changing the group chat title. My sis take a while to locate the mingsu location

Pros: Location is good as it is in the middle of SHG's retail shopping area. Many nice local boutique and eating choices around. However it is not as easy to find for out of town visitors. The online customer service is very responsive and provide necessary details via Wechat very prompt. It's nice to have one set of towels for each day even though daily room cleaning service. Aircon is adequate. Cons: The cooking pots and pans are vey old with stains. While there are pots and pans there are no crockery! The dishes in the cabinet below the stove has black particles that looked like insect droppings!! There is no extra facial tissue provided and what's left on the table ran out fast.

Location: 0/10 Liar Liar Liar!!! Location in trip.com was few minutes to metro, but actual location is another area which is 20mins+ walk to metro!!!!!!!!! Paid so much for fake benefit!!! Cleanliness: 3/10 Comfort: 4/10 Staff / Service: 8/10 Facilities: 3/10 Water temperature is very difficult to adjust Value for Money: 1/10 Safety / Security: 0/10 live somewhere very poor, very dangerous to tourists 位置：0/10 骗子骗子骗子！！！Trip.com 上说离地铁站只有几分钟路程，但实际位置在另一个区域，要走 20 多分钟才能到地铁站！！！！！！花了这么多钱，结果却享受不到任何好处！！！ 清洁度：3/10 舒适度：4/10 员工/服务：8/10 设施：3/10 水温很难调节 性价比：1/10 安全：0/10 住在非常贫困的地方，对游客来说非常危险。

The host needs to update the address, I received a different address information from the app. Although it is on the same road but far from the train station, when you bring a suitcase size 24, it is a torture. The accommodation is a residential area, also clean and civilized, at night the upper floors can hear clearly the sound of walking, because the walls and floors are thin. The room is clean and complete. We are not used to the windy and cold weather, the air conditioner is not warm, the washing machine does not dry, the toilet is not quite stuffy and not ventilated, so the water takes a long time to dry. Not many insects but need more insecticide spray

Checkin was a problem as they were slow to respond. No one would confirm in advance if I had the right address & right location on the map. Since I don’t understand Chinese very well. Communication by phone made it more confusing.  The place itself I like & bright light which was fantastic. It’s spotless! The sunken kitchen is a problem though. Their water seepage issue & if you open lower cabinets it smells bad. You need slippers due to wet kitchens floors, which are typically used for the bathroom. They dehumidified but placed them far away from the kitchen where it’s needed. We moved it ourselves and that made a difference. The lower walls in kitchen shows water damage.  The price is good and we like the neighborhood very much. When we didn’t understand that there is a panel to turn on hot water, we called to say there’s no hot water, they did video call to resolve issue. Still no English.

Location was superb and all amenities included. The hosts answered to our questions and requirements almost instantly. We will book with them again! For a family of three is a good space. The neighbours were also charming!

PLEASE NOTE that the address is not necessarily the same as the one on the website, even the one that shows up after you have finished your booking! The room I stayed in was a 14 minute walk from the Shaanxi South Road metro station, rather than 3 mins as stated on the website. The room was more than adequately clean. The room was equipped with everything to make my stay comfortable: towels, soap, laundry detergent, washing up liquid, eating utensils, slippers, fridge, washing machine, AC, and a projector to watch TV. The WiFi worked well for the first few days, but then it became increasingly slower until it stopped working the last two days. The door is not soundproof and the neighbors can be a bit loud sometimes, but it didn't ruin the stay. The neighborhood is interesting with cafés, restaurants and convenience stores. Using a code to enter and not having to deal with a key was convenient. The contact people are very friendly and helpful. For the most part, it was a great room to stay in, but next time I will find a place closer to the metro station.

The room is suitable for 6 person, not too small not to big, can open the 24-inch luggages together in 1 time👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The amenities are coverage every corner in the room and everything is 🌟FREE!🌟 Location is a bit far from South Shaanxi Station but it’s still be a good choice for group traveler.

We had a good family stay here, everything was arranged in advanced!

Great place that’s spacious, comfy and in a great location. Recommended for anyone wanting the g local Shanghai experience.

great compact space, we had barely space for 3 big luggage, but with just 3 people it was alright for a couple days. we enjoyed the projector, although connection was quite unstable. Right outside the complex there are a bunch of cafes, good for walking around. I like the tea from shang shan nearby. order on the app and collect easily while waiting for the cab! also nearby is 24hr convenience store which we went everyday 😆 recommended!

This was a lovely place to stay, very convenient and very close to everything me and my friends wanted to do during our stay. What I can only imagine is due to the summer there were a few bugs that had gotten in but nothing that some bravery couldn’t handle! Will definitely keep this in mind for when we’re in Shanghai again!
