Shangri-La Xivei Munye • Resort Garden Homestay (Dukezong Ancient City)

A Wonderful Stay at Shangri-La Xivei Munye! We traveled around China for a whole month, staying in 10 different cities and hotels, but this one became my favorite. We stayed here for 4 nights, and I have no complaints whatsoever—only admiration. First of all, the team here is fantastic. The staff are incredibly pleasant and caring. Before our arrival, they messaged me to confirm our arrival time so they could arrange a pickup and transfer from the railway station to the hotel. Throughout our stay, every staff member was kind and attentive. The hotel has a good location. Through the back exit, you step right onto one of the main streets with shops and cafes. It’s only a 5–7 minute walk to the very center of the Ancient City. Yet, there are no tourist crowds near the hotel; it’s very quiet and peaceful inside. The grounds are well-maintained, and the public areas are stylish and beautiful. We loved our room very much — it was spacious, light, and spotlessly clean. The mattresses and pillows were super comfortable. The room had everything needed for a comfortable stay, including oxygen supply. Every day, we were delivered delicious ******* sweets, tea, dried meat, fruits, water, and soft drinks. The soundproofing was excellent; we didn’t hear our neighbors at all, even though the hotel seemed to be fully booked. We also liked the breakfast—a traditional Chinese set menu, which was delicious and authentic. On our checkout day, the staff arranged a free transfer to the railway station and gave us a bag with water and snacks for the journey — a very sweet and thoughtful gesture. A small tip for future guests in Shangri-La: be careful, don’t plan too many activities for your first few days. We needed two days to adapt to the altitude (the evening of the second day was the hardest for me, even though I felt ok during that day). Although we had spent over a week in Dali and Lijiang prior arriving here and thought we would adapt faster. I also highly recommend visiting Tiger Leaping Gorge and doing the trek from Halfway Guesthouse to Tina’s Guesthouse (or Teacher Zhang’s Guesthouse). This hike was probably the most memorable highlight of my entire month-long trip to China — the views are simply breathtaking! In summary, we were completely satisfied with the region and the hotel, where we rested comfortably after busy days and long walks. Huge thanks to the entire staff!

very new and clean premises, our unit has 2 rooms and a spacious living room, equipped with all necessities including ear buds and oxygen supply tube. breakfasts were prepared with love, healthy and delicious! walking distance to restaurants and dukezong ancient city. we were happy with our stay.

Nice homestay within 10 mins walking distance to the ancient city. Staff was also extremely friendly and helpful. The room type I booked had 2 separate bedrooms with their own shower and toilet. Will recommend staying here for a cosy experience. The breakfast add on was acceptable but rather basic.

New and nice design of the hotel exterior and interior. Superb service by the host and the staff there. They provided free pick up and transfer service to train station too. Delicious complimentary afternoon tea snacks provided. We even bought a few packets as souvenirs from the hosts too. Location is great, walking distance to the town, there’s space at the front where you can unload and load your luggages which is convenient. There’s also 妆造shops just 1-2min away from the hotel, which charge cheaper than those shops in town. Highly recommended.

Located extremely close to the old town. Rooms were spacious and modern. Staff were very polite and proactively answered queries. Breakfast was good
