Busta House Hotel

We enjoyed dinner with friends who had stayed the week before. After a day walking the coastline, we appreciated drinks in the comfortable lounge, and such hardworking and friendly service throughout dinner. A nice discovery in Shetland.

Our visit was just to dine in the restaurant, the other half of our group had an excellent stay and meal the week before. Excellent service with friendly helpful staff and an excellent meal. In addition to our starters, our group really enjoyed the steak, lamb and fish followed by a lovely homemade cheesecake.

Busta House really is the most special place, totally unique to find a hotel of such age and character in Shetland. A fantastic place to stay, the staff are all so friendly and helpful, and the rooms are gorgeous with huge comfy beds. The menu in the restaurant has a good choice of local produce and the food was delicious. Grant, Joel and his fab team have created the perfect getaway. 😊

This is a great place to stay on Shetland: A heritage hotel set in beautiful scenery. As usual I was warmly welcomed by Grant and his team. Busta House makes a great base to explore both northern and western Mainland as well as the northern isles of Yell, Fetlar and Unst. And when you return after a day's exploring, or wildlife watching, you can be sure of a great evening meal, using as much local produce as possible, not to mention an amazing selection of Malt Whisky!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Busta house hotel, the food was fantastic (the locally caught Steinbiter fish is fantastic) . Our recently refurbished room was excellent, ensuring we had two great nights sleep. The staff are friendly, professional and very helpful. Location is outstanding.

A lovely hotel in a great location for exploring the north of Shetland. The room was spotless and all queries dealt with speedily. A very interesting , quirky building added to the charm. Evening meals recommended too and an enormous selection of whisky for those that like it.

let's start with the good bits, breakfast and the breakfast staff were amazing now, the rest, we had the room Foula..just refurbished apparently, but not very well, standard of decoration and painting was appalling, paint just slapped on. Radiators made a deafening noise all the time we were there and failed to get warm , according to the staff they were filling up... two days and they failed to fill up. No shelf in shower for soaps shampoos etc, sliding shower door is raised off the ground, hurts when you run if over your foot as I found out On arrival in the room, no soap, no towels, no loo roll, sanitary disposal container not replenished during out two night stay Bath was huge, but no hot water to fill it, and clearly not been used or cleaned for ages as there was a layer of dust within Corridor outside our room was clearly unfinished with bare concrete walls, open hatches in the the ceiling void, all though our stay there was a bucket of stagnant dirty water in the corner, it moved location, but wasn't taken away. Filthy fire door Steps to the hotel are old and steep, but we knew that, but loose and missing slabs on these steps is plain dangerous Restaurant furniture and decoration is the same as it was 30 years ago .. just like stepping back in time to my last visit Busta used to have a stunning reputation as the hotel to stay at when in Shetland, I'd promised my partner a magical stay, it sadly didn't happen, we left disappointed and £320 for two nights lighter Busta, you need to get some of the basics sorted and then look at the detail at the prices you charge we won't be back

Had a fabulous two days. Great food and super helpful staff. The place is packed with an interesting history. The current owner is great fun and he and his business partner are in the process of renovating the bedrooms rooms. My sister and I had a lovely stay and I would highly recommend a stay here. Not to be missed

This is quite a difficult review as lots of things were good about Busta House, including the staff and the food, but when your allocated rooms make it difficult to get a good night's sleep it is hard to be full of praise. The hotel itself has had a lot of investment and several areas looked recently painted and carpeted. In a nutshell, if you stay there then seriously consider avoiding rooms Noss, Lunna, and Lamba due to the minimal soundproofing, proximity to the kitchens, and, in the case of the former two rooms the loud creaking ceilings. The radiators also make loud noises if on. That aside, the staff dealt well with our issues when we spoke to them and I can't fault them for that. The restaurant staff and food, and the lounge were also very nice. If we'd had better rooms then all would have been fine.
