Un ecolodge magnifique au milieu des rizières!!! Peut être la plus belle chambre de nos 4 mois de voyage! Super personnel attentif et souriant!!!

I've been to Sumatra four times now, and this is by far and away my favourite place to stay. The location is picturesque and the hotel really pretty and well-maintained. WiFi available throughout. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food excellent - especially the delicious homemade bread. It really feels like home from home. Jaka was very helpful too, and arranged transport to and from Padang for us. If you're visiting Bukittinggi, I highly recommend staying here.

Great stay at the paddy rice field in a traditional Rumah Adat. Balcony let out to the rain forest. Slep really well Jamal and Rui gave us nice advice on what to see. For dinner we had nice Mee Goreng. In the morning had beautiful fruits and eggs with toast. Thank you for this beautiful experience.

Pros: We spent a little more than two weeks in West Sumatra, and Padi Ecolodge was our favourite accommodation in our trip. We love the raw and relaxing vibe of the ecolodge. We miss waking up in the morning seeing shrews and birds on the tree right from our bed. We miss falling asleep and waking up to the sound of nature. We also miss Rio (nickname Yok) who listens to our juicy day report in the evening. We loved it so much that we decided to extend another night (and cancel our trip to Harau Valley). Thanks Jaka for helping us with booking Ayu travel to Kerinci. Cons: I didn’t enjoy the local burning their organic matters but it happens across Sumatra so it isn’t the property’s fault.

An excellent and unique place. You stay in the city of Bukittinggi but actually you are in the countryside, in a beautifully planned traditional Minangkabau house with all the modern amenities. The views are amazing, the gardens, plants, small pools with goldfish, the breakfast with fresh fruits and amazing juices - all are unbelievable. We came for 2 nights and stayed 5. We found it hard to leave and preferred to explore the amazing area in day trips. Highly recommended.

We (family with 2 little kids) had the pleasure to stay for 4 nights at Padi Ecolodge in Feb’23. It was an amazing and beautiful place right in Ngarai Sianok itself. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the room was clean and cosy, and the food very delicious (the best Gado Gado!). We felt totally relaxed and comfortable. It was within walking distance to Bukittinggi town and we also had a nice hike to Koto Gadang via the Great Wall. The only downside (not the fault of the accommodation) was the karaoke bar further down the road, from which we can hear singing till 4 am :( Otherwise, we highly recommend staying at Padi :D

+We slept 3 nights in the Padi ecolodge. The building was very nice and is in the middle of the beautiful ricefields. The rooms are good and the breakfast as well. -I don't give a very high score because of the atmosphere. The staff was a bit indifferent (except one guy that picked up our bus tickets) and were mainly together. When we arrived we asked for a lunch, but it felt like they didn't want to make it. There is a place where you can sit in the evening, but we were the only ones sitting there and it wasn't possible to get a beer. We would have liked more information about the area and hiking possibilities.

We, big family, stayed at 3 bedroom for a nite. The place was -quite far from the parking lot, but we were fine, even we helped the staff to bring our luggage. Then, the nite came, and suddenly there was no water in the bathroom. We called the staff by phone and got no answer. I searched for them all the place, and there was nobody. We were late for Shubuh pray, because they only appeared when the sun just rise. Before check out, i asked them to help us to take a photo but no one did. Surely unsatisfied.

Everything about this place is excellent: the carefully crafted buildings that are completely in tune with the gorgeous green surroundings,, the simple but tasty meals, the enthusiastic and loving personnel, the positive energy floating through the air and the history of this place. The owner, who divides his time between Holland and Indonesia, grew up in the village of cute Bukittinggi. As a child he dreamt of building his own house and creating chances for his community. His dream came true. With his own hands and help from the community he created a superb house in the style of this region. He also created jobs for the villagers. You are surrounded by them. Everybody is willing to please you and make your stay unforgettable. One of them is Jaka, a perfect guide who speaks excellent English and knows the area and culture by heart. If you go on a trip with him you will know exactly what I mean. As a bonus he takes you to the best restaurant where you can taste excellent local food (rendang!). Don’t forget to check the local market. Walk, eat, drink and enjoy. I wish to return to Padi Ecolodge one fine day. Staying in such a peaceful, beautiful and happy place is like medicine for your soul!
