A small, tidy hotel that blends nicely with the surrounding area. The rooms are extremely small and quite dark due to insufficient lighting, although the overall setup feels luxurious.
Unfortunately, my first impression & experience with the staff was disappointing. At check-in, I was told my room would be ready very soon and that there would be only a short wait. I sat directly in front of the front desk with my 23kg luggage for 40 minutes, as I was on a one-day layover with a packed schedule.
When I finally asked another staff member, I was told the room key had already been given out, which was not true. It turned out my key had been given to another guest who checked in after me. I was then told I would need to wait another 30 minutes, before eventually being given a room after explaining that I had already been waiting for 40 minutes.
The breakfast experience was also disappointing. The staff were quite unfriendly and showed little warmth or smile. As the breakfast was not a buffet, I would have expected some explanation of how the system worked, but no explanation was given. Instead, shortly after I sat down, I was immediately asked what I wanted to order, which felt rather abrupt and uncomfortable as I had no idea what the available options were. The lack of service and education was also apparent at another high ranking Marriott location in Singapore, the Fraser’s house I stayed in the same month .
Overall, while the hotel itself has a pleasant and luxurious atmosphere, the service felt lacking in warmth, communication, and basic attentiveness. For a hotel at this level, I expected a more welcoming and considerate experience, and unfortunately, the staff interactions left me quite disappointed. If you’re here anything else apart from business trips, I advise you save your money & time and stay at a non-Marriott location.
