OYO Ivy Hotel

Booked and paid for this hotel a week before travelling. Booking was confirmed on the day (9 March) Arrived 6:30 pm to find the hotel lights on, door open but no one there. We tried calling several numbers to no avail. Several other guests arrived all having paid in advance. We messaged their Facebook page but no contact back. In the end everyone had to make other arrangements/ find other accommodation. The hotel hasn’t got back to us. They take your money but don’t follow through with the rooms. Total waste of time. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL

My husband and I booked a room 21/06/23 for 02/9/23 Fully paid for . We turned up at the hotel for check in to find out our room had been cancelled apparently by *********** The lady on reception explained the room was cancelled and B.com should have let us know the day before by email. ( The hotel and B. com should have tried to email or phone so both should take responsibility) We tried to contact B.com while we where still in the reception area, but to no avail. I had an event to go to that evening and a wedding reception to go to the next day. Due to peak holiday time we could not find another place to stay. We had no choice ,but to drive back home to Newark over 60 miles. I left my husband at home while I drove back to Skegness to the event another 60 miles plus . After the event drive home again over another 60 miles. In this period of time I could not rest or get a meal due to time restriction This morning we had to drive back to Skegness yet again to the wedding reception. Do the Ivy Hotel find this expectable? Not only have we wasted time , energy and a lot of petrol on what have should have been a relaxed time away. I would have appreciated the honesty. The hotel had actually cancelled the booking. Extremely disappointed.

Staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful but the rooms were dated and in need of refurbishment. There were damp marks in places. The walls were paper thin and you could hear every noise from the adjoining rooms.

It was very dated,the room I shared with my Husband was dusty, it was in need of the really good vacuum, the bathroom was okay, downstairs in the dining room where we had breakfast, table was very sticky, the staff were disorganised, there was a manager who marched up and down like a dictator.

The room was dirty. Carpet not vacuumed. Two huge wet patches on the carpet. The damp bed. The damp ceiling. Every wall painted battle ship grey. The smell in the room. The damaged sink unit in the bathroom. No mirror in the bathroom. Only a net curtain at the window in the bedroom.. Several windows screwed shut. Wall light above the headboard hanging off the wall. Loose telephone socket on the wall. The sofa, legs that bent when you put anything on it. The mattress that bowed in the middle. The bar was poorly stocked with not much choice available. We paid £135 or thereabouts for a "Premier Plus" suite (room 500, top floor). In fact, it was so bad, having had a little too much wine to drive, we jumped in taxi and paid £120 to come home to Cleethorpes to avoid having to stay in such a dirty bed / room. We then drove back to Skegness in the morning to retrieve our luggage and other car. We arrived with three minutes to spare and made good our escape. Avoid at all costs.

Cancelled booking 2 hours before and yet took my money then blamed booking . Com Booking made over a week. Travelling up 5 hours with a small child and nothing just told at 8pm hotel is closed! Cannot be trusted!

They took our money even though they were closed! We stood outside in minus temperatures for 30/40 minutes until the owners daughters turned up to say it’s closed over winter. DONT LIST IT AS AVAILABLE AND TAKE OUT MONEY THEN!! Avoid they are clearly scammers

Excellent stay. Great breakfast...lovely and clean hotel. Staff we excellent, so friendly and helpful. Someone had a birthday and the manager decorated a breakfast table for them. Marion the manager is great...

Didn't get to stay at this hotel, we turned up for out pre booked stay, only to be met my a work.an to say the hotel had been closed for refurbishments for the past 2 weeks and the owner had gone abroad! There was no communication and they even took the booking fee 3 days before arrival knowing full well it was closed. Shocking!
