Hotel berhampiran Cirque du Soleil Joya, Solidaridad

We are Ruby members who recently stayed at El Dorado Royale in a sapphire beachfront room. We were in building 55 which is the southernmost building on the property. Our room was fairly basic, but always clean and we loved our balcony overlooking the ocean. We also loved the proximity to the Kick restaurant/bar and also the members only beach area. It was a short walk to the main pool and the more quiet and laid back pool behind the main pool. We also didn't feel like it was an excessive walk to the main buidling but if you wanted to go to the casitas area or Generations for restaurants, there were always plenty of golf carts going around to pick you up. This was a last minute trip so we only stayed four nights and we ate dinners at Santa Fe, Jade, Wine Kitchen and D'italia Casitas. We ate lunch at La Isla, Kampai, and Kick twice. Our feeling is that the food was good, with a few dishes we'd call great. Our favorite meal was Jade with the Mongolia dish and tuna sashimi. Very very good. The burgers at Kick were really good. We didn't eat a single bad thing at all, we do recommend ordering several things off the menu. Most portions are pretty small which is how we like it so we can try several things. Highly recommend ordering coffee or cappucino after your meal with dessert. Such good coffee! We love the martini bar in the lobby before dinner at night and the bellini bar after dinner is always nice. If the main pool bar is busy there are plenty of places to go to get a drink without having to get into the water or push past the people who sit there all day long. As members we had a butler(s). Jhonny and Isabel shared this responsibility for us and they were just delightful! So courteous and nice to talk to and also so responsive for the requests we had. First day there, via whatsapp, I asked Jhonny if we could swap out our in room wine for a different kind. I had also asked if the beer in the fridge could be stocked with just one of the four kinds offered. He had it done within the hour while we were out eating and then showed up later with real wine glasses because he noticed we didn't have any stemmed wine glasses set up in the room. Such a nice touch! Every morning he would stop in and bring us fresh ice. He also filled in on the two occasions that our coffee bar did not get reset and we were out of coffee. Isabel was also helpful when we decided, rather last minute, to get massages for the next day and had has set up, again via whatsapp, within like 20. minutes. They both also arranged for transport on a couple of occassions for us and scheduled our luggage pickup. They were wonderful!! Also, I have to say this is the first time we had a mini fridge that was actually really cold! It was wonderful! Finally on the pro side, I've ready many reviews where people complain about the app but we used it with zero troubles. Was able to make reservations all four nights on it with no issue. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. We came for a friend's wedding in October 2021, and will keep out wedding-specific items for this review. There are many activities in the complex, but we came to see friends, hang by the pool, eat and drink. Overall this fit the criteria. During this time, it was still very humid, but perfect for being in the pool (not necessarily a wedding outfit!) Room service is convenient, but not always fast, especially late at night. I think 2 hours+ one evening for us. The room service food was better than some of the restaurants in my opinion. We didn't go on the beach other than for a pre-wedding party. They go through COVID testing when you check in.

As other reviews have mentioned, this resort blocks Tripadvisor on their wifi, so I had to disconnect in order to leave a review here. The pros: most of the staff (especially the groundskeepers, drivers, and servers) are excellent. They are super friendly and great at what they do. Several stand out, but we didn't catch everyone's name. Alex (The Palms), Jonathan (Jade), Samuel (spa), and Julian shuttling us around are all wonderful people. Our concierge downstairs (female, didn't catch her name) is also great and booked our dinner at Fuentes. Food was mostly good, with the exception of La Isla at El Dorado Royale which was terrible food with terrible, mean-spirited service. The cons: the accommodations are pretty bad considering the price here. We booked a standard room with a balcony (higher floor) but were instead put in one of the rooms with a swim-up pool. It might sound like an upgrade, but it's a lower floor, and the pool is pretty much unusable due to how cold it is. We've been here for 5 days now, and I haven't seen a single person using it. Ants have been a regular pest in here. Our neighbors left out their room service for housekeeping to pick up, and it took them over 24 hours to get the dishes, causing a stink and more ants. The room itself has a comfortable bed, but the bathroom needs some updating. The jacuzzi had the drain completely detached when we arrived, and I had to screw it back in to get it working. The shower has a rainwater head above, but the switch to enable it requires an almost impossible amount of strength (so much so that you'll think you're doing something wrong). The drain is also pretty slow in the shower, but it's not a big deal. Other reviews are spot-on about the room needing a refresh. I can't speak to the quality of Bonanza Ranch, but some of the horses didn't seem very happy. Several exhibited signs of stress in their tiny stables (biting the bar and breathing in sharply, over and over again.) Even our tour guide mentioned it was anxiety-induced behavior. Bad: The Lomas travel people. You'll have to go to this office in order to book your ”More Inclusive” activities. These people have one of the easiest jobs on the resort, and they act like every waking moment speaking with a guest is painful. The woman who booked our activities on the day we arrived was literally rolling her eyes at basic questions. When our trip to Maroma beach was cancelled, we had to rebook with her, and she clearly couldn't wait to be finished talking with us. My girlfriend got sick one morning, and we couldn't make it for our Aktun Chen excursion, so I waited around for the office to open and tell them we wouldn't be going. When it opened, the man there refused to help, saying I didn't give them enough notice (even though I came as early as we possibly could given the circumstances). He didn't really listen to anything I was saying, and also wouldn't even call the front desk to let the transportation know we weren't coming. I hop

The hotel, the best but to pricy, so gritty expecting 6000 pesos for a less than 50 dollars game. Also not making up to the agreement, between Trip and Nickelodeon together. Last time I use both

My wife and I just came back from 4 days at the Edition at Kanai. What a perfect vacation. It is a relatively new hotel and they go out of their way to make you feel special. We got upgraded to a suite and our room was beyond amazing. We especially loved sitting on the huge balcony and having breakfast each morning. The service was top notch. The pool was stunning. And the chaise lounges at the beach were relaxing and super comfortable. We can't wait to go back again soon!

The hotel and all the experience was terrible. The food in the buffet is pretty much the same everyday and the quality is really low. There are not enough sunshades for all the guests in the hotel. One day, we left our towels on the sunbed, when we came back 30 minutes later they were gone and the staff told us that they ran out of beach towels. We lost our sunbeds and towels and we had to leave the pool because there weren’t any seats left. The staff doesn’t care about the hotel guests. The golf cars that are supposed to give you rides in the resort refused to take us like 90% of the time. The hotel concierge feels like a huge scammer. We asked if we could get a ride to the main gates of the resort and they refused to take us with the golf cars and said that we could call a taxi for 5$ each way (all of this is to move inside of the resort area). Also, they try to scam you by paying 50$ to go to playa del carmen, wich is like 15 minutes away. It’s a complete joke. Even for the price I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone.
