I'm sorry to say my experience was not awful, but certainly a disappointment. The food was sad. We paid $ 400 extra and struggled to find one good thing each day of a 4 day stay. The room had a beautiful view. We upgraded to a suite with kitchenette. Nice, but no dishes or any way of cooking which made the stove useless. The in- room jacuzzi did not work. Mold on ceilings and stained bedding. The booking said in- room snacks, not so. Nada. No ironing board. Tv stopped working on day two and the hotel response was, ” oh well ”. No water activities and a sad excuse for a beach. Sadly, not recommended. Save your money and go to The Bahamas!

My wife and I travelled the week of June 4 to 10 2023. We had the all inclusive package which included our food. Our room was close to the lobby which gave us access to the internet which was nice. We were on the ground floor in a bungalow style of house. The shower was a bit small but it worked well. The room had 2 beds and was big enough for what we needed. We spent most of our week at the pool which was AWESOME! The weather was great. High twenties to low to mid thirties all week. We had rain in the evening of Tuesday ( June 6) Wednesday (June 7) and Thursday (June 8). The rain was brief except for Thursday but all that did was cool the temperatures. and took away the sargassum. I swam at the beach every day after that. The food at the buffet was very good and we had plenty of choice. I ate smoked salmon every day at breakfast. The a la carte were first come first served so if you wanted reservations you just made your way to the restaurants early. The Japanese restaurant was a lot of fun as Daniel, the chef, put on a show for us. We had no issues getting reservations. All the a la carte were good. Overall, the staff was friendly, polite and very pleasant. The best part of the week was the people we met. We met people from many parts of the US, France, Germany, and England. It was a great week and I would recommend this place to anyone.

The hotel and all the experience was terrible. The food in the buffet is pretty much the same everyday and the quality is really low. There are not enough sunshades for all the guests in the hotel. One day, we left our towels on the sunbed, when we came back 30 minutes later they were gone and the staff told us that they ran out of beach towels. We lost our sunbeds and towels and we had to leave the pool because there weren’t any seats left. The staff doesn’t care about the hotel guests. The golf cars that are supposed to give you rides in the resort refused to take us like 90% of the time. The hotel concierge feels like a huge scammer. We asked if we could get a ride to the main gates of the resort and they refused to take us with the golf cars and said that we could call a taxi for 5$ each way (all of this is to move inside of the resort area). Also, they try to scam you by paying 50$ to go to playa del carmen, wich is like 15 minutes away. It’s a complete joke. Even for the price I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

We went to Maroma for my 40th birthday the week before Christmas. This was our first time visiting this property. Overall our experience was good, but there are a few reasons I would not choose to go back to this resort. I'll start with the good. PROS: 1) For the most part, the food was excellent. I enjoyed most meals, and didn't feel like the resort lacked for variety despite having only a couple restaurants. 2) The beach club next door is a nice addition. We went to the buffet a couple times and enjoyed the variety of options. The woodfire pizza was outstanding (as long as you get it fresh)! 3) Including some excursions was awesome! We did the snorkeling/catamaran and had a wonderful time. The crew did a great job making the roughly 2 hour trip fun, and the water was clear. We saw a variety of fish and some people saw stingrays and sea turtles. The drinks flowed freely and it was a party atmosphere after the snorkeling portion was done. 4) Most days our concierge found us and checked in to make sure everything was going well. They also booked us an express tour to Chichen Itza that was good; didn't take the whole day because it skipped the useless shopping trip, so we just got to spend some quality time at the site and still get back to the resort in time for dinner. 5) Carlos in particular was an incredible bartender and made sure we had a good time. He even made sure to find some special tequilas for us to taste. 6) We stayed in a Mi Hotelito room, which have been recently renovated. The AC worked well and the bed was big and comfy. Unlike other resorts who for some reason think you want to enjoy each other's company through a basically see-through bathroom door, there was actually a solid door! 😅 The pool/bar was right outside our balcony so we could come and go easily throughout the day. 7) Never had to fight to get chairs or day beds. The fact that day beds are not an upcharge was also a huge plus, as they normally are. For the most part we got good service while using the day beds, especially from Denise. 8) The resort is small and has a very boutique feel. You get to know people and staff easily, and there's no need for golf cart transport just to get everywhere. 9) Liquor choices were great! Lots of mid and top shelf options included without an extra fee. 10) No hard sell on the vacation club. We said no one time and that was it. Other places are much more aggressive. 11) The Mexican fiesta night was the best! They had dancing and a mariachi band, as well as excellent food. CONS 1) This place is SO disorganized. The staff are trying their best but we were given wrong information several times. I think it's because they recently changed management companies, but it was a bit ridiculous at times. Just one example: When we arrived, we were told we had a 6pm reservation at one of the restaurants already made for us and the couple with traveled with who had arrived before us. We had a most wonderful experience during our week long stay at Dreams. We had the Preferred status accomodations which gave us personalized check-in, where we enjoyed a complimentary glass of champagne. Our 6th floor ocean view room was wonderful with a large balcony. We enjoyed all of the restaurants and the meals were excellent. We especially enjoyed the ability to walk around the entire community, never feeling uncomfortable or out of place. We will definitely return to this wonderful resort.

An eco-friendly resort where the staff becomes your family is what “Hacienda” Tres Rios is! We are a military family with numerous combat deployments around the world. “Hacienda” Tres Rios is the first place we have felt truly safe and truly want to go back to every year. Not only is the resort beautiful and food great- but the staff is amazing! They truly want you to enjoy your time there and always make you feel like part of the family. Time will tell if “Kimpton” Tres Rios maintains the “Hacienda” tradition.

We arrived on 9/30 for (2) weeks for our anniversary. Prior to arriving our butlers Nacho and Fernando reached out inquiring about our stay and if there were anything special that would be needed. I was able to set up golf reservations and we were able to set our dinner reservations. We were even forwarded an activities chart for the upcoming week in order to plan ahead of time our shows and daily activities.Upon arrival the concierge folks immediately made us feel welcome and expedited our check in. Once in our room, we plotted our stay. We’re on the Heaven side and right near our favorite dinner spot, Wei. The food was excellent!! Our mornings mostly started with a walk around the property, very safe, and then breakfast @ Faro. The manager Carolina, the hostess’s Paola & Maricruz met us with a smile. Our waiters Francisco , Manu & Mateo made sure that our experience was a great start to a new day. The pool staff was also amazing , David made sure the music choices were on point and the poolside facial massages were excellent.Maria made sure our glasses were never empty.As I mentioned, we were there for our anniversary, and it did not disappoint, we received several cards from the staff of the restaurants and on our Ann day , our room was decorated. We went to Riviera Maya Hard Rock 9 years ago for our honeymoon and have returned several times and continue to share great memories.On a side note, we had a chance to go to Unico for our 2nd week , however, because of our butlers attention to detail and the wonderful resort staff we decided to stay where we were.
