Hotel Admiral

The staff at the hotel were incredible. Nothing was too much trouble in terms of service. The food was excellent and the hotel was clean and comfortable. I stayed here with my mother and daughter and we had a really lovely holiday. There is an easy bus into Sorrento (5 mins) and a downhill walk back (25 mins). There is also a small beach about 100m from the hotel. The pool at the hotel was not heated and doesn't get the sun for most of the day, so if this is important to you, you need to bear that in mind. Evening entertainment is a singer which we really enjoyed.

Room was okay, could have been higher standard of cleaning in the room. Charged for 2 glasses of ice when we ordered a beer. View was stunning. Had an issues trying to get a taxi from the taxi to the hotel as the drivers were choosing which passengers to take Gian Marco at reception was extremely nice and helpful.

There isn't a massive amount I can write as we were hardly ever at the hotel. I was a little disappointed that on arrival there was no welcome refreshments which would of been lovely especially after having a long travel day and it being 33 degrees on arrival. The reception/entrance is lovely as its very recently been refurbished however as soon as you enter the lift it all goes downhill. The room was OK, it was very clean and they provided fresh towels everyday however there was no fridge in the room which was a shame as we bought drinks from the local shop as the hotel were charging €5.50 for a diet coke! There was also no kettle with coffee/tea in the room. We had a large balcony which had stunning views over the marina. The food wasn't great in our opinion and there wasn't much choice however it is a small hotel so I guess they wouldn't cook too much due to waste. We were going to have one of our evening meals there but the prices were ridiculously expensive with not much choice either so we ate out every day. The views were gorgeous but that's what you expect when staying in sorrento, staff were OK, I wouldn't say they were overly helpful/friendly. Overall I wouldn't stay here again personally but if you are staying in sorrento and just need somewhere to sleep then it does the job however if you can afford to spend the extra money then I would recommend staying elsewhere. Please not as well that they do have "city tax" which they charge you at the end of your stay which i was unaware of!

Lovely clean hotel, terrace overhanging the sea. Really good hot and cold breakfast selection. Could do with a fridge in the room. Friendly staff, bar a bit expensive. Have to drag/carry your luggage a few hundred metres along the cobbled road from the drop off point to the hotel.

This was the third time we had visited SORRENTO staying at a different hotel each time . The Admiral is situated in Marina Grande which although it’s approximately a 15-20 minute walk from the main town it’s still a great location . The hotel is situated right on the waterfront with great views of the marina ,sea , distant bay of Naples and mount Vesuvius. It has a selection of rooms with and without balconies ( I would recommend a room with a balcony) some have room for chairs and larger one with sun loungers. The rooms are clean and well maintained The restaurant is laid out well with both inside and outside seating currently only serving breakfast ( a great selection) and lunchtime and afternoon snacks . The bar has a great selection of drinks Note :Marina Grande has a great selection of bars and restaurants, so easy for dinner . There’s a relaxation area with fabulous sofas. The pool is small , cold but great for cooling off . There is a decked area with adequate loungers for all ( although during our second week people were reserving them with towels and not always using them , sometimes not at all ). While we were there the sun stayed on this area until approximately 13.00 And finally an important part , the staff : They were all friendly and helpful I would highly recommend The Hotel Admiral Also something that maybe of interest is Marina Grande offers a great selection of boat trips and water sports

Could not believe the negative reviews. This hotel is amazing for the price. Lovely bright clean rooms. We had a side sea view and was able to see the sea and the harbour. So nice to be able to stay here out of the hustle and bustle of Sorrento town. The steps up to town was nothing like we imagined. In fact it is a gradual incline with a step every few metres. We are in our 70s and walked up and down every day 15-20 mins. We stayed at the Amiral beginning of October. There are sun beds on the sea terrace. ( note the hotel was in the shade in the afternoon but was October). The breakfast was delicious. Fresh sliced fruit, ham cheese, hot section bacon eggs mushrooms beans etc. Fresh croissant selection, pancakes, even guy making fresh omelettes, even cheesecake. Free sunbed towels. Internet good. Staff very pleasant and attentive. Perfect. Booking again for next year Only negative. Jam please for toast 😊

The positives: The hotel is in a beautiful position with spectacular views of Vesuvius and the Marina Grande Breakfast buffet has plenty of choices and fabulous made to order omelettes Waiting staff and bar staff friendly and courteous, special shout out to omelette maker! The negatives: Very clean room but extremely basic, no mirror to sit and do hair, lighting needs improving no light in doorway near entrance where there was a large mirror, a bedside lamp did not work and the other lamps had bulbs not working! Not enough sockets to plug your adapters in so had to unplug light to charge phone etc. As mentioned bar staff friendly this could not be said for reception staff! When entering hotel you go past the reception and there was never any acknowledgment. On our last night we asked for our final bill which was paid with no interest. No people skills! No hot water for 2 days with no explanation or apology! Breakfast great, however there was flies on the pastries so this should be addressed. Excellent location however bedrooms could do with updating! Could be fantastic with a few tweaks

Great position with lovely views across the bay to Vesuvius from our sea view room. A pleasant walk up to the centre of Sorrento via steps at the other end of Marina Grande. Actual room is VERY basic,clean but that's about it.Only two electric sockets that UK adapters could fit into,both of which had lamps attached to them.Half the light bulbs didn't work. No mirror in room above desk so had to use mobile phone to do hair etc.And to top it off,2 days without any hot water!...with little in the way of any apology from hotel staff,just the TUI rep when informed. In fairness the bed was comfy and the breakfasts were good if you had the omlettes which were freshly cooked. The hot buffet items didn't look that appetising and were tepid at best. Plenty of fruit and pastries though. This hotel could be so much better if a little more thought and expenditure was implemented. We were lucky that we had great weather during our stay which made our break that much more enjoyable. Sorrento is a lovely place and a good base to explore the area. If we were to return though we would probably look to stay in a different hotel.

Where do a start with Hotel Admiral We were very disappointed with the hotel, not a 3 star hotel at all is this worst hotel we have ever stayed in 40 years of travelling you start to sunbathe at 9am the sun disappears by 10.45 the way this hotel is situated. We had no Internet for a couple of days no explanation about that. No hot water either . Cold showers The doors were all corroded needing painting chipped. Towels had holes in them.. nobody told me that I would need a insect spray as we have been biten. off the beds This hotel is not good for walking as quite a lot of deep steps to the centre of sorrento. The breakfasts were very basic food not covered as flies about the food. The restaurants outside the hotel if you don't like fish there is not much choice for anything else. No entertainment at all at this hotel. I cannot say anything nice or positive about it I look forward to our next trip away very soon.
