We were needing to stop for the evening so I called the Hampton Inn to see if they had availability. Damien, the gentleman on the phone was so friendly and accommodating and made us feel so welcome. When we arrived shortly after and he checked us in, his same welcoming personality and positive comments about their hotel made us feel special. The beds were comfortable, the complimentary breakfast was above the normal standards of hotel breakfast buffets. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Loading our car in the drizzling rain, we accidentally overlooked my husbands toiletries bag. When I called, they again, were so friendly and helpful acknowledging they had it. Damien once again assured me he would personally make sure he would get it returned to us. We travel quite a bit and the staff here are the best at making guests feel appreciated and welcome. They seem committed to their jobs and this hotel.

This hotel has Cockroaches pictures attached. Detailed explanation below but the manager in a roundabout way accused me of faking the pictures and wanted an apology from me for contacting the Health Department before she would authorize a refund. Oh, this is all recorded so the hotel cannot deny it! I booked two rooms for my two, Mid 80s Aunts and Uncles to visit my mom at a near by Assisted Living Facility in Princeton. The hotel was very accommodating in getting us two rooms next to each other on the 1st floor. That was the end of the praise for this hotel ends. I received a call from My Aunt very early in the morning that they were up since 4am when she was woke by a bug crawling on her face. She got up, turned on the light to see cockroaches all over her bed and the walls. They of course woke up my other family members to warn them. Needless to say that was the end of sleeping for these 4 elderly people. I called the hotel at 8:30 am hoping to speak to a manager but was told by the front desk housekeeping would check the room and a manager would call. I also emailed them pictures and a video of the cockroaches around the room at that time. I waited for a call until 12 noon but no call from a manager. You would think a situation like this would be a priority. At this point I contacted the South Brunswick Health department and put in a report, of course, provided them with the pictures and video also. I waited another day to hear from the hotel, but nothing. At this point I contacted Expedia who I booked the room through to inform them of the situation, they said they were going to reach out to the hotel and put in a request for a refund. Expedia put me on hold for a few minutes to contact the hotel. The representative came back and said the hotel declined my request! I asked them to conference a call with the hotel and me which they did. With Exepedia on the phone (which was recorded) I spoke to the hotel manager who said they checked the room (During the day, we all know Cockroaches are not out in the day) and found none. I asked her if she was the pictures and videos I emailed. She said, “ I did and they look like pictures that I have seen from other hotels that were fake.” I pointed out the decor is clearly their room and the video shows the cockroaches crawling on their bed. She responded with the same. She then went on to say, “I am not giving you a credit because you called the health department on us, UNTIL you apologize you will not get a refund!!!!” In my mind I couldn’t believe she just said that I need to apologize for reporting their hotel for having cockroaches, basically blackmailing me! This was not about the money, this was about the hotel taking responsibility, apologizing, and doing the right thing. This hotel handled the situation so very wrong! The staff were very, very friendly. The room was spacious and the included products were Dove products (lotion, hand soap, bath wash, shampoo, and conditioner). We did not use housekeeping but were given towels daily as requested. Breakfast was adequate. I would recommend that the hotel switch to butter that is spreadable when cold. It is hard to spread rock-hard butter onto toast, bagels, pancakes, etc. The worst part of our four day stay was other guests. A large group arrived on our second night. The children ran the halls all night and the adults talked loudly in the halls. Not the hotel's fault but ruined my visit/birthday getaway. There was a lot of parking and the location was convenient. I would recommend better signage at the entrance. The hotel is located off of a busy highway. We almost missed the turn in the first time parking. Another issue was that the pool was closed due to the heater not working. We were disappointed about this. I would return to this hotel. If we do, I hope that the pool is operational.

The hotel stay started off good but ended really bad. I decided to do a staycation for the weekend with my boyfriend. We were staying for one night but extended it for another night. The first night I stayed at the hotel on Friday February 3rd, 2023 everything was fine and the full amount was charged and taking from my card. The next morning we decided to extend our stay and paid the full amount plus taxes for that night. The lady at the desk used my boyfriend card for the second night on February 4th, 2023 instead of charging the card that was on file. She told us everything was ok and the payment was successful. As I was checking out of February 5th, 2023 she told me I have to pay extra because she over-swiped the debt card and the system rebooted and deleted the information from the first night February 3rd, 2023. After showing her debt card statements and the payment processing on my boyfriend and I a card she told me it’s nothing that could be done. She will reach out to the manager and the manger told her to call the police. We waited for the police to arrive to explain the situation but that didn’t help. So now I will be going to court after showing proof of the paying being processed and going through. I will be reaching out better business bureau and the civil rights division department of justice for racist and discriminations. We are a hard working black couple who stayed at this hotel many of times. This by far was the most embarrassing and disappointing stay.

My son had his small wedding at The Peacock Inn this past Sunday. It was an intimate luncheon for approximately 40 guests. From the moment we arrived, The Peacock Inn was attentive to our needs. The grounds outside were beautifully planted with flowers and assorted greenery. The dining area was so lovely with soft music playing in the background. The tented area, in the outside back of the inn, looked so beautiful and perfect for the walk down the aisle. After the service, the cocktail area, on the side of the premises was set with bistro style tables. The food was delicious and plentiful and the quartet on the porch, was such a lovely touch. Julie, our ”go to” was absolutely fabulous, as was her staff. 10 stars. I would highly recommend The Peacock Inn as a venue for a small gathering or lunch/dinner.

This is a good hotel. I saw a lot of reviews that it was noisy due to proximity to I-95. I got an even number room that is away from the road. However there was noise from the people above probably due to how thin the floors are. You can’t fully close curtains to blackout. The fridge in room was pretty good size. TV is small. The fitness center is okay and has a few machines and weights. Pool is fairly small and has some lessons while we were there. Breakfast was fine. Website advertises EV plugs but it was this third party vendor with some unusual connections that I couldn’t use on my Tesla.

Positives: Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially Kim and Carl in the evening who went out of their way to accommodate all of our requests. Location was good and I like that it was walkable to activities like shopping, AMC theatre, and restaurants. Mattress in bedroom was comfortable. Needs some work: The morning breakfast was limited and there are not enough tables. Give guests a waffle maker! Negatives: The hotel is under construction. Not just a few rooms and the pool closed for renovation. Plastic sheets blocking hallways… wallpaper half on, we were on a floor section that felt isolated because if we walked down the stairs to go down out the hallway below us to the lobby, we could not as the doorway was taped off. It was eerie. Yet, there was no indication of this construction work on the hotel website when I booked and the price was HIGHER than some others I could have chosen nearby. I definitely feel that I did not get the value for my money. (Yes, it needs the update. See my comments about the sofa bed. The room door locks are the old ones where you need to insert a key card - no digital key - and they were finicky. The outside door lock closest to my room did not function. I reported it twice and was told engineering would be sent to look at it, but it never worked while I was there. There is not a pool - it seems there was one on site, but it is not operational.) Rooms: Standard of this chain: all suite rooms, full stocked kitchens and bedroom options. I used Marriott points to book 1 bedrooms with sofa bed in living room. Families beware: they do NOT have rooms with two beds in bedrooms. My small 14 year old slept on sofa bed. Several problems: 1) Rooms are not pre-stocked with bedding for sofa bed, only sheets. If you plan to use it, make sure you ask for blanket and pillows delivered when you check-in (they brought these to us quickly). 2) The sofa bed mattress was old, thin, and very uncomfortable. Even my 5’2” 105lb daughter woke with a sore back after sleeping on it and said she could feel all the bars. 3) On night 2 we asked if there were any options to change. But all the sofa beds in hotel are of equal age and there would be no guarantee we would get something in better condition. They do not have mattress pads to add on top or 2-bedded rooms (as stated above). 4) The evening clerks - Kim and Carl - were trying hard to do whatever they could in their power to make it right for us. They give us 2 extra comforters to use as mattress toppers and that did seem to help. Nearby activities: Location was perfect for an event in Princeton. I was visiting with my teen daughter for a volleyball tournament at Princeton Day School. It was a pleasant 10-15 minute drive to event venue. But hotel located on Rte 1, so easy to get to and walkable to several quick chain restaurants, an AMC theatre, and a small shopping mall. Short drive (within another 10-15 minutes) to more shopping and food options.

Everyone was nice and polite, clean rooms excellent breakfast, perfect ambiance. I will definitely stay again. 🙂
