Hotel berhampiran Enos Park Sculpture Garden, Springfield

The hotel is being renovated but that is not the problem. The contractors have apparently painted around objects instead of moving them. The room smells like pot or something skunky. There is NO security, anyone off the street can enter the hotel. 2 of the 3 light bulbs were burned out in the room. We have one pack of coffee for two of us to share, there is no tissue...okay, there are 4 tissues but not nearly enough. Front desk was pleasant but does not have a great command of the English language. I am being generous with 2 stars. My advice, if you can afford it, look for something a little better quality that Wyndham DOESN'T own. They are tanking in the hotel biz :(

I needed to book a hotel room for an overnight work trip and this hotel came up as the #1 traveler ranked hotel, so I decided to try it despite my uneasy feelings based on a bad experience at another Comfort Suites down further south in IL. I have stayed at other hotels in Springfield that turned out to be less than desirable but this one definitely exceeded my expectations. When I booked the room, I asked for a quiet room since I would be using some of my time in the morning to review notes and prepare for an important work task later that morning. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by a smiling friendly employee who asked if I would prefer a second or third floor room (I chose the top/third floor so I wouldn't hear any noises above me). I grabbed a warm cookie wrapped in plastic and a cup of lemon infused water, which are amazing touches and delicious treats for guests upon arriving and after traveling for hours in some cases. I entered my room (number 317) and found that I had indeed been assigned a quiet room away from any highway noise, so I was pleasantly surprised because a request for a quiet room is not always granted. The room itself was quite spacious with a separate area for the fridge, microwave, and food countertop; a separate sitting area; and a long countertop extending the entire length of the bathroom. The bed and pillows were comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. The only downside here that bumped my review from 5 stars to 4 stars is that there were only three tissues left in the box, all of which I used, and there was not enough toilet paper, so I ran out as I used the restroom for the last time before leaving and had to use my own Kleenex. Most hotels have a spare toilet paper roll and/or spare tissue box, but I did not see any. Overall, a very comfortable stay in a very comfortable room.

Clean room, used Choice points for 3 night stay, Breakfast was fine and met expectations, Coffee maker was missing from room. The Coffee was there but no maker. I requested one and they said they were ordered. I asked if they could get one from an empty room, and they declined. Not a special guest but i do like my coffee and spend about 200 nights on the road a year. I am the business guest they want to groom and attend to. Of course, I did not raise the point on the desk staff. Had south facing room on 2nd floor which was private as NOTHING is on the south side of the hotel except vacant land. Will request South side for next stay. On the plus side, room was clean, service otherwise was good. BEST thing was that coffee in the breakfast room had BIG cups. Maybe 12 oz or 16 oz and not those little ones. I even complimented them on it. And the coffee was available all day so it worked out. Great area, 10 million places to eat or shop. Close to Target, WalMart, Sams and even Office DePot and a million restaurants. Mostly the typical and upper scale chains. Would stay there again for sure.

At first when we entered the our room it looked small and out-of-date, but we warmed up to it. Our stay was 3 nights. The Pros: Shower was amazing! Staff was quick to get us more towels upon request. We could control the thermostat . Sleeping and breakfast were decent. Breakfast had a good variety: waffle station and coffee bar. Breakfast staff and front desk staff were kind. Cons: Our door made a loud noise when opening and closing. The 1st night had to get used to noises of air conditioner going on and off. The bathroom was not as clean as it could be; I had to wipe up some obvious urine under the toilet seat with lysol wipes. I would say overall a great stay. They have a pool on 1st floor, but no hot tub, plus restrooms in the hallways. There are ice and vending machines on each floor. The hotel is in good proximity to the capital, Lincoln's home and the Lincoln museum, about 10 mins and all located in downtown. His Tomb is about the same distance, but North direction. Route 66 Motorhead Restaurant was South about 10 mins, bit did not think the meal was that great. If you want a simple meal and assortment, Bob Evans is 2 mins from the hotel. If you could only see one thing, see Lincoln's Presidental Museum. You will not be disappointed! It will take 2.5-3 hours to tour. Closes at 5 so plan accordingly. Capital was a short tour , about 20 mins. We stayed about an hour to look around after. The Illinois Museum was okay. Took about 40 mins. The Carriage Restaurant had awesome sweet potatoes and wraps. The Obed and Isaac's Pub and Restaurant had delicious pulled beef tacos. Recommended eateries for downtown. Scoop Dejour is cute ice cream parlor about 5 mins from hotel. The Mall is not too far either if you need to walk those calories off and stay coo! lGreat hotel for family! Camping World is across the street and another hotel right behind the Hampton Inn. Overall, quiet and safe.

The front seat was super attentive and kind. The room was clean and tidy with all expected amenities. No issues with our stay whatsoever.
