The Stanwick Hotel

Just had an amazing lunch at the Stanwick hotel. Been craving a nice prawn sandwich for ages. The bread was fresh, plenty of prawns with a lovely marie rose sauce. It also came with a portion of chips and salad. All for just £8.95 amazing value. The staff are all very pleasant too. We will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu.

My wife took an impromptu wander down to the Stanwick Hotel for Wacky Wednesday and had a lovely evening. There was a great atmosphere in the bar area, enhanced by a good number of people dining in the restaurant. The legendary Phil provided his cordial service behind the bar, and the restaurant staff were excellent, notably Anna who looked after us very well once we were seated at a table. Whilst we were not intending to dine, Anna was happy to let us have a look at the current dinner menu which is more extensive than we remembered from our last visit, and at very reasonable prices. We mentioned to Anna that we had seen reference online to Tapas Thursday and asked her what that entailed. Anna let us know that there is currently a Tapas special comprising a sharing platter of cold meats, stuffed tomatoes, olives, salad and bread with balsamic and oil at £12. Having not planned to eat, we decided to order this and were not disappointed – it was delicious, particularly the tomatoes and olives which were outstanding. This led us to having a couple more glasses of wine than we originally expected, but at £4 a glass it was well worth it! The Wacky Wednesday offer applied to the house wine only, but this was a very nice Merlot which went down very well with the Tapas platter. All in all, a very enjoyable evening with great value drinks and excellent food was topped off with friendly and attentive service from the lovely Anna and her colleagues.

Met a friend here for lunch today - first time visiting and won’t be the last . What a lovely hotel. Restaurant comfortable and very tastefully decorated, menu great and good value . Nice to be able to get sandwiches at lunchtime rather than a main meal. Staff super efficient and friendly . Grounds look beautiful and will look forward to enjoying the better weather there. The Stanwick Hotel is in a rural location, but within a 15 minute drive of nearby towns and villages with food options if these are needed. The hotel had ample parking. Despite it being winter, I enjoyed having the grounds of the hotel to walk around after my journey. The hotel has a number of chalet type rooms outside the main building, side by side. The entrance was at ground level direct into the room, which I liked. I was able to walk straight out to my car on leaving the room. Only a few rooms appeared to be occupied during my stay, so it was quiet. My only issue with the room was that the key handle/lock appeared rather stiff, and some force needed to be used to raise the handle in order to lock it. The bed was comfortable, the heating worked well and the shower was nice and hot. Breakfast was ordered from a menu, with some self-serve items. Regards staff, an older gentlemen behind the bar wore an elf outfit (it was a week before Christmas), a gardener was maintaining flower beds (in winter), and reception staff were chatty and friendly. I thought all of these were nice touches and showed that care was taken to maintain the hotel and give customers a good experience. Good value for the price. I would stay again.

Very functional with really great amenities. Very clean and the rooms are well appointed. Room service is excellent with quite an extensive menu and the staff are very friendly. Great location with easy access to several major towns in the immediate vicinity.

Just returned from a lovely two night stay at The Stanwick Hotel , the bedroom was beautiful and shower amazing . Sunday lunch was first class amazing Sirloin beef with all the trimmings and the breakfasts were freshly cooked to order were the best out of all the hotels i've stayed in . To sum up a great value hotel with very good food and one we shall return to .
